CC has adapted well to the new social dining norms. Disposable paper menu, nice indoor spacing plus spaced outside dining tables. Caylee did a great job of pacing the meal. The Potato soup is always a winner, the Flounder sandwich special was excellent and we love their Peach Tea. We drive 65 miles to CC and it is always worth the drive.

Exceptional local cafe. Plenty of seating inside, on the porch, or in the tree shaded open patio. Service is fast, attentive, and very friendly. Portions are plentiful. The turkey melt had a large amount of moist turkey, melty Swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato, and avocado. All VERY fresh ingredients. Highly recommend the chicken tortilla soup.

Excellent quality food and service par none. Owners and staff offer the best quality food and service in Castroville. Great ambiance and place to treat and entertain guests. Castroville Cafe is a real gem and makes Castroville proud.

Have been coming every Sunday but the menu has now changed. I’m not sure if we will be coming back anymore. The ladies are fantastic and we will miss the great customer service!
Concern 1: who serves mashed potatoes with sandwiches? It should be potato salad.
Concern 2: the cobblers were removed. I always got one after my meal.
Concern 3: the staples that made this place great were removed; fried egg, strawberry delight and pot roast. Our meatloaf plate was a lot less than usual and price increased.

We arrived at 1:00 which should have been after the lunch rush and sat outside. It took 10-15 minutes before we were brought menus and were asked what we wanted to drink. Then the food took about 45 minutes to arrive which was chicken salad and a patty melt. When we asked why others were getting served that arrived after us, we were told that the patty melt took a long time to make which made no sense to us. The chicken salad was mediocre. The patty melt had good meat and grilled onion but had no melted cheese on it. I did not send it back because I was afraid that I would have to wait another hour. When the food arrived, the flies started swarming making the dining experience even worse. We counted 12 flies on a piece of lettuce on a plate we set aside after we finished eating. This place had great reviews but we were very disappointed.

Absolutely terrible. Since the new ownership changed it’s really taken a turn for the worst. Quality of the menu is hospital cafeteria grade at best. While at the same time squeezing out every possible penny they can out of you. So bad I’m surprised they don’t charge by the individual ice cube in your drink.Cutlery rental fees I’m sure are right around the corner. The European restaurant/hospitality model isn’t going to work in South Texas.

Service was good though I think they were a little understaffed. Soup had a great flavor but was luke warm. Burgers we ordered were not super hot either and slightly dry. Flavors are good and food is fresh- I think it just needs to be executed a little better. All and all pretty good. Maybe we just went on a day they were not expecting as many diners as there were.

It is a little off 90. Looked good and waitstaff were nice and helpful.
My meal was 100% disappointing. I had a Reuben and coleslaw. I should say miniature Reuben sandwich. It was a $15 disappointment. I will not soon be back. I don't know why people are coming here it must be something because it wasn't the food I had.

This is a charming restaurant in Castroville. We sat on the shady front patio with our dogs. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. Food was very well prepared. My husband had the Rueben Sandwich with a Side Salad. I had the Castroville Salad which had a delicious combination of flavors. Highly recommend this place!

We ordered the landmark, and Cuban hot sandwiches and they were delicious! They come with your voice of two sides, we chose fruit and side salads.

We have eaten here before and it was great. Must be new ownership. Food was cold and my wife was not cooked completely. Had to send it back. We left without finishing the meal. Terrible!

I had the bowl of chicken tortilla soup. It was served hot and had a good flavor. Not the best chicken tortilla soup I have ever had, but it was good. Next time, I think I will order what my sister ordered: cup of soup, with 2 sides. We had a very relaxing lunch, the waitress was a bit slow, but not a game changer. (*Note: this cafe is right in the middle of the Castroville Walking Tour, which is a great way to walk off your meal.)
