We've driven by Sammy's for years but had never stopped in until now. Good selection to choose from. What we ordered was jut ok but nothing to brag about. Would eat here again if passing through Castroville but I wouldn't drive out of my way to eat here.

Great food, great service too. We had breakfast here. It was tasty and quick. The place was clean and tidy. Reasonable cost too. We would recommend this place especially for breakfast. Give it a try and hopefully you’ll be pleased.

We were a group of 30ish, they had a room just for us to fit in. Lots of variety to choose from including daily specials. Service was nice and keep our glasses full, food was prompt and good. Everyone enjoyed what they ordered.

This place has been open forever. Used to be ok, but is now just bad. Enchilada plate was too salty to eat and they use processed cheese (velveeta type). Waitresses are very nice. Portions were large. Food not good.

This is one of those good old restaurants where you can get a wide variety of dishes. We had breakfast for dinner. It was great. The chicken fried chicken breast was great. They even had rye toast. Clean restaurant with friendly and fast service. Highly recommend Sammy's.

My first time at Sammy's was taking our winning UIL One-
Act Play to eat and celebrate. We all loved our food! Very good! I had the pork steak with garlic mashed potatoes, buttered corn and a special red apple sauce. It was delicious! Students had burgers, enchiladas, etc. and all were excellent. I will definitely be going back!

I first ate at Sammy's in 2020 when I was in Castroville for a Texas Living History Association convention. The food and service were wonderful then.
We had been to Fredericksburg on a birthday roadtrip -- and I wanted to scoot aver to see the restored Rainbow theater.
After the movie -- I remembered how much I enjoyed Sammy's before so we had dinner there.
I have some stomach issues (pancreatitis) so I have to be careful about oils and spices etc. The waitress (whose name I WISH I could remember) went WELL ABOVE and BEYOND to address my concerns. Not only did she actually LISTEN to my concerns - but she asked questions and made suggestions to be sure I had as tasty a meal as possible within my restrictions --- AND I DID --The food was DELICIOUS.
So KUDOS to the cooking staff -- and double KUDOS to the waitress who dealt with all of this with a SMILE.
I'm 70 years old. I spend a good part of those years in food service - or retail - or other public contact jobs. I know a thing or two about good service. What I experienced that evening at Sammys -- was a PRIME EXAMPLE.

Waited over an hour for our meal that never came… Went to leave and they said the meal was already on the plates so we asked for our daughters to go only to be told it really wasn’t. What a waste of time.

We ate here 3 times. Twice for breakfast. Lots of great home made food very reasonable prices. Bisquets were great.

Not bad, just not anything memorable. They are open late, which is probably one of the draws. Lots of fried foods in an old, tired dining room.

I asked for a super thick, triple chocolate shake and our waiter did not disappoint! I wish I remembered his name because it was my birthday, the waiter said my shake was "paid for". He was really a sweet guy! My hamburger and onion rings were excellent, too!

This place is really the only place in town to eat and that has a limited Bar. The place is very dated like to the 1950's. needs a good scrub and a complete makeover.... locals go there... but out oft owners go in and NEVER god back... the food is terrible and the bar is barely passable. this could actually be a good place with a better cash infusion and a rehab. but for now it is the only place in town, but is someone opened a restaurant in town better that this place..then Sammys would be out of business in less than a year.

We wandered in for lunch after visiting a couple of historic points in Castroville. My friend had the soup & salad bar, and I had a fish plate with zucchini. Nothing fancy, nor was the place itself very new. Just good, home-style cooking in a comfy environment. Great service.

We enjoyed our breakfast at Sammy's. Service was very good and the food was hot when it arrived. The breakfast tacos are large and very good as was the Belgian waffle.
