Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Terrible service. After waiting 90 minutes and asking where our meal was we were informed they lost the order and to try another pub!

Lots of food choices. Meals were quick to come out but most of us weren’t impressed by the meals. Would not recommend. Meals not as described. I had fettuccine carbonara without bacon. Came out with veggies instead which I didn’t request. Someone else got Overcooked...chicken Kiev. Sticky date pudding inedible as dryMore

Friendly country pub popular with locals, had a 'Cheers" feeling to it. Large list on food menu and includes typical pub meals. Ok wine selection. Indoor and outdoor, plus pavement seating.

As a member of the Essendon Bushwalking Club we had 3 nights of fantastic eating at this pub. There were 20 of us and we all enjoyed our meals very much. Hospitality was very welcoming. Thank you to the publican and staff.

I had the special Pesto Gnocci and wow I’m glad I did!!! Beautiful oil based pasta dish !! My only complaint is give me some crusty bread to soak up those delicious juices!!! Perfect as usual !! And friendly wonderful staff !!

We arrived at 12pm for a booked lunch on a very rainy day but found that it was freezing inside. All doors and some windows were open, there was no background music, heating or coziness. The dining room chairs were cold to sit on. It...was dark in there so some lamps would have added a nice glow. It’s a shame that you have to order at the bar, also collect your cutlery at the bar and fill a glass with water at the bar. There seemed to be plenty of staff. Three in total so table service would have been nice. We would have appreciated if someone could have brought over bottled water, cutlery and taken our order just to acknowledge that we were there. There was no salt or pepper on the table. We ordered a Schnitzel and chips for $23 but it came with no salad which was disappointing. An adults Chicken Parma came with no salad also. The chips had a beautiful crunch though. The kids burger was a good size and came with a good amount of chips. The staff were lovely, the food was nice but I think we were expecting a little more in the beautiful town of Yackandandah. On such a miserable day, it’s the little things that would have made a difference.More

We visited this restaurant on a busy Easter Sunday so were grateful to get a table and prompt courteous service. The servings were large and tasty - a salad and a burger - accompanied by long, ice cold lemon lime and bitters. So we were...very happy with our choice.More

Miserable weather on a recent Sunday morning, meant a later than usual start to our day. We decided to go out for breakfast and visit one of our local hotels. We arrived about 10.30am to find a few people enjoying the cozy wood fire in...the front bar and were warmly greeted by both the owner and staff, who gave us the option of either a bar or dining room table. As the dining room was a tad quieter, we chose the latter but still enjoyed the wood fire in there. We looked over the extensive menu and chose the Bacon Benedict with a Hash Brown upgrade and the Chorizo, Poached Eggs and Beans with a bacon side. Our usual large and double shot Lattes were also ordered and I warmed myself on return from the main bar. Our coffees arrived piping hot and were delicious. Even though they were still quite busy, our meals arrived in good time and were both of a generous size and delicious. My Bacon Benedict was served on a fresh bagel, accompanied by mushrooms, wilted greens and a small, freshly made salad. The eggs were poached to perfection. My wife’s Chorizo and Beans was reportedly very nice (I’m not a fan of beans so I had to take her word for this!) We have been to this pub plenty of times for dinner but this is the first and definitely not the last time we will have brekkie here and we’ll certainly be recommending it to our friends as well.More

I ate here last November with a group. The publican was very friendly and helpful. I decided to eat the Thai beef salad, and was very disappointed. There was plenty of meat, but much of it was grisly and tough. The salad part was completely...lacking. There was so little of anything, for instance cherry tomatoes were cut in half and there were 3, hence a total of one and a half cherry tomatoes. The rest of the salad was as stingy, and I noted my friends meals had side salads that were more generous. Pretty lousy when it cost me almost $25. As I am a local , I will be back to give them a second chance, but may be a while.More
