Two Pots beer on tap offers a great range of quality craft beer. Excellent coffee from the attached alleyway coffee bar. Meals at night very good. Standard stuff, burgers, pizzas and parmis but also some smoked steaks and ribs etc. Very good. I was impressed that the chef dictated the required doneness of the steak and he was right. Prices reasonable. Staff of both coffee bar and pub bar very friendly and welcoming. This place has very busy periods. They seem to cope ok though.

The outdoor tables under the covered main street walkway was an inviting spot to stop on a hot day. We weren’t quite up for the Southern US rib style menu so we opted for Beer Battered Fish (2 pieces) $26 served with chips, and added salad for an extra $4. Service wasn’t very attentive or careful. Had I received a thoughtful response to my query regarding the size of the fish pieces, I would have ordered (1 piece) $19. There was a sign saying “Bowls of Chips” were not available (due to a general short supply of potatoes) however, it hadn’t occurred to us that this would mean that the chips included in the Beer Battered Fish and chips order for $26 would be lacking. There were a few (very few) chips buried under the fish. We’ll go back because it’s an historic hotel in a great location.

We first stopped here for a cold bevies before we walked the Main Street for done dinner Dow shopping before dinner. The bar offers a local brew called Two Pots. We tried the APA- it was deliciously hoppy and very refreshing. We then returned for dinner after our stroll throw the town. The food here is delicious, especially if you are a carnivore. My husband had the pork, it was tender and cooked in a rich sauce- highly recommend this fish. I opted for the sweet potato Rosti stack, wonderfully delicious but be warned, I hope you’re hungry, this was a very filling dish, I could not finish it. All in all our meals were very good value.

I’m local and really want to support a local business but I really don’t think I can any more. The wait times can be extraordinary sometimes and I’m not over exaggerating when I say at least six times I’ve waited more than an hour for pizza whilst being told every 15 minutes that mine was next. The food can be awesome one day and then completely different the next. For example, the other week I had a meat lovers pizza and it was meaty and saucy and just YUM! Tonight, same pizza and it was like it was from somewhere else - looked and tasted completely different. Another example, one night we had parmas which came with chips and salad. On another visit, same order and all we got was the parmas on a plate - no chips, no salad. It’s not cheap and I’m happy to pay to support a local business but not when it’s so hit and miss, so inconsistent.

We had a mixed tray of meats : beef ribs , pork ribs and chicken wings. Absolutely amazing smoked American BBQ slow cooked to perfection. Went down brilliantly with the locally brewed craft beer " two pot" . The hopsey IPA , rich red ale and smooth tawny port aroma stout all worth a try. Star Hotel is highly recommended for a great drink and feed.

This review is for the laneway cafe. The cafe is probably one of the few positives to emanate from the COVID lockdown last year. The open air nature of the cafe lent itself to social distancing and before they knew it, the pub had diversified its business through necessity. (The traditional pub business was closed thanks to Covid) Anyway I’ve been sporadically frequenting the laneway cafe as a midpoint coffee stop on my rides since last August. During that time they’ve had a bean change (Blessed Bean their current bean of choice) multiple baristas but the same relaxed service style and improved outdoor seating. I’ll admit that the coffee quality has fluctuated a bit during that time but it is back on song now. The barista even took the time to leave his machine and check with me at my table to ensure that he delivered the optimal coffee today (ristretto v espresso in my piccolo ). Great coffee. Great service. Great country town atmosphere. It must be working as I reckon there were 25+ customers there when I turned up today (Thursday).

We attended a birthday celebration in the back garden, the food was generous and tasty, the outside bar had plenty of options for all tastes. The staff were excellent. We went back the next night for dinner, again the menu had plenty of options and was generous and tasty, great service.

New York Steak, BBQ Brisket Pizza or anything else on the menu and you won't be disappointed. Dropped in here on a whim for dinner while staying the weekend in Beechworth and was not disappointed. Very friendly staff, amazing menu (particularly if you enjoy slow cooked meats BBQ style) or something a bit different from regular pub grub. Louise

Main meals of ribs and brisket were over cooked and dry. Vegetarian burger bun dry and Thai lentil burger overcooked and inedible. Most of us were not impressed by main meals at all. Desserts were a surprise as were good. That’s why I gave 3 stars. Also the pub owns the cafe 2 doors down and got us coffees from there for us which was excellent service. Coffees and chai lattes were good.

Holly meat! Smoked pork ribs for lunch with proper bark. let’s just say I didn’t need dinner. Slaw was so so, chips were apparently good. Nice local wines and beer and staff. Awesome outdoor areas to sit front and back.

The staff were very friendly and the food delicious. I had the beef rib, and the flavour was amazing. My husband had the New York steak that was slow cooked for 24 hours, and while the flavour was good the steak was tough, so he was disappointed.

We were so impressed with the Star Hotel that we’d go to Yackandandah just to ear there. As it turned out, we stayed in the town one night and ate there twice. The service was great, the atmosphere friendly and, of you are a fan of American style barbecue, the food was heaven. We had some of the best smoked meats we’ve ever eaten and the sides were lovely. The mac’n’cheese is to die for! Craft beers were great too. You’d be silly not to visit if you were in the region.

Shared 4 different pizzas between 6 people for a light dinner - veggie, BBQ chicken, margarita and supreme. Great based and delicious toppings. Didn’t eat a main meal, but all of the meals being delivered to the other tables looked great

Absolutely terrible!!!!!!!! My wife ordered the Moroccan lamb salad expeting for $26 she would get a small portion of back strap. No, it was served as two mutton flavoured thin forequarter chop, oven cooked to an inch of their life. They were smothered in the fat and juice that came out of them in the oven. I believe they were cooked on the weekend and reheated on the Tuesday we were there. The salad was giant couscous and rocket lots of onion and two prices of tomato. The lamb was reminiscent of my grandma chops cooked using the lard from previous roasts she had cooked over the last couple of months. Disgusting!!!!! I had the beef burger salad and chips $32. WTF!!!!! It was a sausage mince patty, like a bbq rissole. Dry AF. Sliced cheese that was not mealted, sauerkraut and mustard, that’s it!!!! It was just bigger than a slider milk bun. The bun was toasted and extremely stale. Hard to do as the buns are bought in frozen. Everything was terrible Don’t waste your time.
