What a suprise. We arrived at 7pm to an empty restaurant shown to a table and given two menus; one Italian one Indian. We looked through the extensive and impressive Indian list but we both where looking for Italian. The chef took our order for...straight forward Garlic Pizza, Chicken & Pesto Gnocchi and pasta Carbonara. Limited wine list but hey, Saturday night at the local Italian, you don't expect more. The Garlic Pizza arrived in about 10 minutes with a crispy base lots of lovely light mozzarella and plenty of garlic and outshone the Jacob's Creek Pinot Noir. Our expectations were set for a local Italian, and embarrasingly I admit I expected the chef might specialize in Indian cuisine, but was I so wrong. The tri-colore fetuccini arrived with the rich creamy bacon sauce with just the right amount of shaved Pamesan. The gnocchi, light and with the clear taste basil was also a hit. Both were served hot. Not just a night at the local but reminiscent of Carlton's University Cafe in the 70s. A great delight and a great chef. Next time I will challenge him choosing from the Indian menu and maybe rekidle memories of the Carlton Curry House.More

I can give my feedback that the indian food was top par! Beautiful food. There are things that need improvements if they want to bring more customers in. Those are: CLEAN the tables properly please. They were sticky. Clean the knives, forks and spoons and...plates properly. Hygiene and cleanliness is MOST important. Many people will be scared by smudgy looking cutlery and glasses were very dirty. Get a HOT water dishwasher machine please. I can vouch for that the indian is cooked perfectly, REAL authentic food. This is why they take awhile to cook, because they cook it FRESH and perfectly clean too with the food, so those who complain about the long waits need to understand. Fresh cooked is important and much nicer tasting. Thank you for a lovely indian meal. I hope you will take on board cleaning everything else (tables, glasses, cutlery and plates) regularly.More

The food here is pretty good, however it takes the a really long time to prepare / cook, i believe its due to a lack of staff

Going mid week for an evening meal it's better to book so they have some warning, 5 coming in off the street for dinner seemed a shock..limited staff, long waits, and forgot we asked for coffee..

What an overall horrible night! We rang to book a table half an hour in advance! We got there and had to wait 5mins for our table to be cleaned and set! We were then shown to our table and waited another 5 mins for...menus! After a 10min wait the waiter finally came to take our order. After waiting 10 mins I then had to go and ask the waiter if he could please get our drinks. It was an hour wait for our average meals which by that stage we were ready to leave without eating. We went up to pay and I had to request a discount for the meals, he ended up giving us free drinks! Definitely won't be returning! I don't recommend.More

Good on the cheery Indian bloke for having a go. I presume he bought an existing pizza joint and added Indian food to the menu. It was perhaps a little ominous that on a Sunday night on a long weekend that there were only two...people at a table and no one waiting for takeaway but we had a hankering for sit-down pizza and, as far as we know, Wonthaggi offers no other options. The drinks list is, um, modest. With VB at $5.50 and Carlton at $6.50 a Kingfisher at $5.50 seemed like a good idea. Nice beer. There were a few base-model bottles of wine on a rack but there were no prices on them. The pizzas were just pizzas and were notable only for a certain uniformity. The salad, however, was excellent with a terrific dressing. The owner wouldn't share the recipe with us which is fair enough, but it was beaut. We had an Indian dessert that the owner recommended. I don't recall its name but I'm sure it was an excellent Indian dessert. We ate and drank for $25 a head so it's hard to be too harsh. Next time I'll try the Indian food.More
