Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Lovely country pub with a nice warm fire and fantastic food. Both had the scotch fillet and it was melt in your mouth perfection.

The best steak we have had in ages. Local wine list amazing as were the staff. Place was full on a Thursday night with locals. Great night out. If you are passing through a must drop in.

Loved this hotel as soon as we went in, lovely welcoming staff and gorgeous decor. The merlot was just delicious and reasonably priced and I believe the beer was cold and tasty! I had the fisherman’s basket which was great value and despite my best...efforts I couldn’t finish it. The other half had the Royal Parmi and polished it off so it must have been good. Would have no doubts about recommending this pub if you’re in the area and I’m hoping to return tomorrow night.More

Came here with a few friends and couldn’t recommend enough. Such friendly staff, great food and beautiful venue. Outside seating as well! We ended up staying for both lunch and dinner due to the atmosphere and welcoming environment. Will be back!

Great little gastro pub in St Arnaud. We stopped on Wednesday night (Parma Night) for dinner and tried the Italian Parma. Absolutely excellent and the staff were very attentive and hospitable. Will return again to try some of their other offerings (staeks looked great.

Over night stop in St Arnaud on a Saturday night. Luckily rang and left a message to book. Hotel doesn't open to 4pm and was very busy. Not surprising as the young bar staff were welcoming and profenssional. Meal was excellent. Really good vibe as...the locals obviously support their Hotel too.More

A random road trip took us to the historic town of St Arnaud where we were fortunate to discover the Royal Hotel. The vibe is polished inner urban Melbourne meets authentic country charm. All the staff were professional yet relaxed. The decor was entrancing with...antique fittings jostling for attention with potted plants, stained glass and vintage and modern art. There are a range of very inviting spaces including the bar, courtyard and exquisite dining room for events. I opted for the special, the Royal Parma. The wine list is selected with care and there are plenty of other refreshments on offer. The Parma was perfection. The only way to elevate good pub grub to something memorable is quality ingredients, skill and care. On our second visit I couldn’t bypass the Royal Parma again and it was as good as I remembered. My only quibble is that the Royal isn’t my local watering hole however it’s well worth a return visit.More

One of the best country pubs I have been to. Lovely bar area on entry, with a small eating area off to the side. Larger 'dining room' out the back (used for functions or when front area full). Great decor, incredibly friendly staff, fabulous meals,...cheap food and drinks - what more could you ask for?!More

A meal at the Royal Hotel is a must for any visitor to St Arnaud. Attentive bar staff welcoming locals and visitors and dishing up delicious meals. Chicken Parmigiana topped with bacon, fat chips and salad with delicious dressing. Fisherman's Basket - fish, prawns, calamari,...scallops, chips, salad and tartare sauce. Yum. Great value too, under $40 for both. If only City Hotels could serve meals this good!More

The Royel Hotel in St Arnaud is the benchmark and pre eminent example of what a country pub should be. Anyone thinking of taking on a country pub, or indeed a city pub may wish to visit this wonderful establishment and see just how good...a pub can be with a bit of attention to detail. The owners of this pub have put a lot of effort and thought into bringing back the heritage feel of this historic pub and it is a popular venue with both local and out of town visitors. The ambience is delightful, the food is great and the staff are friendly. It is also a popular venue for functions and larger groups and the private function room is a gem, furnished with an ecelctic collection of antiques and artworks. Well worth a visit.More

We arrived in town just before 2pm on a Sunday and the staff were happy to stay open to cook us some lunch. I had the Sunday roast special and my wife had the chicken burger. We both had a soft drink to wash it...down as we still had a fair bit of driving to do. All of the food was very good - nice pub food. The pub is very attractive. The staff were friendly and we didn't feel rushed. All in all, a very pleasant experience and I would recommend this place to others.More

Although a long weekend, the staff found us a table- it was near the bar area but this added to our evening experience. Great food with a good craft beer and local wine list. We took the advice from the friendly & helpful female staff...re wines and not disappointed. Even met the young owners who have painstakingly renovated the hotel to transform it into a great dining venue! Some great artwork inside and in the courtyard area.Thank you for a great evening!😊More
