We enjoyed the food it was very tasty. The only thing disappointing was the size of my grilled barramundi. I got the thinnest, tail end which when I questioned waiter I was told all portions weighed the same. When we were leaving a couple on the next table had ordered the same theirs was very thick, easily twice as thick as mine and a much larger portion pretty much what I had expected mine should have been. When we paid our account I mentioned it again ... no joy there! no offer of any solution not even a free coffee! Considering we spent $240 all up I think being charged full price for what was essentially a plate of chips (lots of them!) Some salad and minimal fish was pathetic. Any chef (and we have a few in our family) would not have served that or at the very least would have added another portion. We won't be hurrying back .... shame really as everything else was spot on.

What an incredible place; the service absolutely superb, porterhouse steaks the best we’ve had in Australia and with a stunning view overlooking the beach and jetty coupled with a great atmosphere it was the perfect place to spend an hour as part of our Melbourne Seaplane trip.
Thoroughly recommend the restaurant and the seaplane. Fantastic memories to take back to Cornwall in the UK.

Lovely location, good food and helpful staff – but a “fixed price” of $59 for 2 courses (with quite few optional “extras” – including bread - on top of this) means this isn’t your casual lunch place. I don’t intend this as criticism; The Baths is certainly not the only place on the Peninsula to adopt the “fixed price” approach. And good luck to this establishment if this works for them. There seemed to be a good number of patrons on the summer weekday that we were there, so perhaps it is working.
The menu is varied and interesting and there’s a bit of flair apparent in the entrees and deserts, but it seemed to me that the “mains” fell a little short. After all, fish and chips or a chicken burger or even a risotto for a main does seem, when you’re paying a $59 for 2 courses, a little, shall we say, understated. There are other choices, including gnocchi and mussels, but it was extra for a steak or seafood linguine. I wondered if, for the price, there’s scope for more flair with the mains. My chicken burger was very nice, as was the chocolate mousse which I coupled it with, but I was left with the feeling that the pricing was a little “over the top”.

thank you for your review. we really do appreciate the feedback.
of course due to COVID19 restrictions and revenue loss in the last 9 months, we have adaped to the fixed price option.
we are glad you enjoyed your meals, and are sorry you felt the pricing is
"over the top".

After reading all the great reviews on here we have to question whether there was some kind of guest chef or locum on duty when we dined here on Boxing Day evening. Firstly let me state the good points, the view is beautiful and we were given a great seat next to the window. Even without a window seat, anywhere in here is a great view over the water. The staff were all friendly and pleasant. Our meals were served quickly. However, the food was really very ordinary. The barramundi was the smallest piece of Barra I've even seen in my life and for $38 (plus public holiday surcharge) I expect my fish to be at least bigger than half the size of my palm and taste like it isn't frozen. We are from Queensland and get fresh barramundi regularly and this was not fresh. I'm not saying it was off. It's just that it was tasteless. It was bland, which fresh barramundi is not. I've had far better fish and chips at local takeaway fish and chips places for $18, not $38 plus surcharge. It is definitely a place for families. This is not somewhere we would return to if we came back to the Peninsula.

View and ambience was good, but the food was ordinary. What left a bad taste was that as a group of three, we’ve ordered 2 entrees, 3 mains and 2 desserts from the set menu (i.e. 2 guests had the 2 courses set menu and one guest had the 3 courses set menu). When the bill came it was for two x 3 courses menu and one x two courses menu. We’ve pointed it out and the restaurant insisted they were correct and was quite rude about it. As the cost difference is only $10 and we were in a hurry we let it go, but won’t be returning again.

Attempted to have lunch here on a Friday post-COVID. Anticipated an outdoor table as we hadn’t booked, however we only wanted a table for 2 and arrived at 11:30 for their lunch ‘service’.
‘Service’ is an interesting version of what we encountered. Front of house was rude and obnoxious, rolling his eyes before pointing us in the direction of their high chair area on the terrace when we suggested we wanted a few drinks and light lunch.
Needless to say we walked back out the door never to return
For a region who prides itself on service and high end quality The Baths certainly skimps on basic service and manners.

Thanks for your review Sally-Ann,
Unfortunately we have limited numbers by the covid19 current restriction on restaurant seating being available, so we prioritise our bookings first, and we are not always able to provide an outdoor table as we have 2 sitting times at the moment. which you stated you didnt have..
we also do not offer a "light lunch" at the moment, its a set menu,
again due to covid loss of income for 7 and half months of the year.
The staff have been working back to back shifts, again, due to covid 19!
We apologize if you took it as rudeness however, we have strict government guidelines to follow.
thanks

Great views, tick. Wait staff friendly and smiling, tick. Food, average. Care for patrons, do we really need you? The food was ok but for the price paid, it was certainly not worth it. The children's dishes arrived promptly, within about 15 minutes after ordering BUT then to wait 75 minutes for the adult mains to arrive by which time the children had well and truly finished. Assured us they would be able to cater for a child with allergies- it meant one dish, have it or no other alternatives (if they don't want to cater for allergies, just say so at booking; the conceit was disappointing). The empty platitudes that followed a sub par mention to the restaurant spoke volumes. VERY DISAPPOINTING.
By the way, the 20% discount offered for a favourable review at the next visit should speak volumes. This offer is on laminated notices at every table.

thank you for your review. we appreciate the feedback.
were glad you enjoyed our lovely staff and beautiful views.
we pride our selves on catering for allergies, intolerences etc and even go out of our way to make dishes up depending on what the person can have. so that is simply not true about the child with allergies. you did want pasta and as we told you, he couldnt have egg so he couldnt have that dish because egg is in pasta, so we cannot physically remove that, as you would know or should know, any where you go to dine out with your child that pasta contains egg.
were sorry your VERY DISAPPOINTED but we do cater for every different allergy and pride ourselves on it. your mains were not 75 minutes after, if were going to be exaggerating maybe 45 i would believe but i have the docket and it was 30 minutes after your childrens when it got called away in a 120 seating service.
if you would like to discuss this further please call 5984 1500.

Booked out on a hot holiday evening. We were lucky to be squeezed in on a late booking. Upon arrival we were seated immediately. Orders for drinks and food were taken promptly. A senior waiter with a strong European accent attended us. He gave particular attention to serving 2 young children in our group. All drinks and meals were quickly served. Food was well presented and excellent. Plates were cleared efficiently, dessert orders taken and desserts served in a blink. Desserts looked great and tasted better. As a group of 6 adults, 2 pre-school kids and a baby we were extremely thankful that the service and attention we received enabled us to enjoy a very pleasant dinner without it dragging out so long that the younsters became unruly.
The bright pleasant venue, location and views made it all that much better.

Three courses for $69... fabulous food, fabulous service, amazing view, brilliant vibe. I always read reviews prior to trying somewhere new and was disappointed in the number of customers who complained about a fixed price model. Anyone who visits this venue’s website, looks at their menu (anywhere it’s broadcast), reads reviews etc, can see plain as day that it’s fixed price (two courses for $59, three for $69). If that doesn’t float your boat... don’t go!
Hats off to what has been achieved at this beautiful establishment, run by pleasant and competent staff and lead by a fabulous manager who has a clear understanding of smart business. The Baths offers amazing food, great service and an overall wonderful dining experience in a unique beach setting, for a very reasonable price and has survived one of the most incredible economic challenge of all times. To keep a team of people employed, provide a fabulous experience to the public, with a smile on face, keeping the economic wheels turning for suppliers, employees and tourism and more is a great achievement. To do it at such a genuine pleasure to the paying consumer = great job.
To those smart and sophisticated enough to understand the economic impact of Covid on the hospitality industry, who are savvy enough to understand common sense business, and refined and tasteful enough to enjoy great food and fabulous service, The Baths is for you!
PS The steak is delectable and Mel provides a second to none dining service.

The location of this restaurant is amazing .Our family has come here forever, through all its phases,my nephew even had his wedding here .
This Summer we have been twice : set price $59 two course ,$69 three course ..if you have steak or Seafood linguini add $10 .
Had mussels ,lots of tomatoes in the serve ,not many mussels ,lovely flavour .
All the food was fine ,not spectacular and the same menu on both occasions.
In short good average food in the best location ,nice staff if you are happy to have a set price and two courses for lunch .

Head waiter could be nicer in chatting re booking instead of handing us a business card and tell us just call number this happened on Thursday we where taken back but brushed it off.
Then Head waitress on Friday 5:30pm definitely wasn't welcoming unfriendly from the minute we got to restaurant. When we arrived at restaurant we had to wait to just be acknowledged by head waitress and she just pointed to were we are to be seated like we were students to be seated at table. Later coming to our table asking us "ready for food" she looked experienced to know how to be customer focused.
The younger staff seemed more respectful and polite.
Food was fabulous, restaurant is beautiful and view is excellent. Unfortunately the beginning was disappointing I get we have bad days however if I chose to spend my money for a service I am expecting to be welcomed. Even the fact I had to wait for a long time to pay went to toilet and still hubby was waiting to have payment taken. I then had to ask one of the waitress if she could please take payment from us. Head waitress saw all this as she was close and made eye contact but looked away. Hopefully this give you some ideas of what can be improved.

First of all, you have already reviewed this on google reviews, in which i have responded to that, and you havent had a counter response. so why do you feel the need to go on all platforms of social media, instead of calling 5984 1500 like i advised you to on your google review.
second of all, how are you to know who is the head waiter or waitress? did you ask?
or are you assuming. because when we "assume" things, is not always right.
for the second time, if you have such an issue, call 5984 1500 to discuss instead of hiding behind a keyboard in the comfort of your home!

Partner and I visited for dinner, staff were friendly and despite not getting a window seat, it was still a great relaxed vibe. Service was efficient and food whilst not amazing was still delicious, especially dessert. The set menu price was on the expensive side and little touches were missing, such as parmesan offered with the gnocchi or a crisp white table cloth. However overall we had an enjoyable time, it just wasn't super special.

The Baths has adopted a new (to me) menu with great advantages. Advantages for them that is. They're doing what a lot of restaurants are doing now - the 2 or 3 course menu.
We were given two menus without mention of any other being available.
There was 2 course $59 and 3 course $69.
We chose the 2 course. I had fish and chips plus a dessert. During the meal I started to think about the pricing. Hang on, I thought, this ordinary dessert can't be costing more than $12, so that means for this ordinary serve of fish and chips I have been charged $47!
If it was the usual type of menu with a price alongside each item and fish 'n chips showed as $47, I would have walked out!! We paid $150 for 2 just average 2 course meals and 2 cups of coffee.
You see, it's a sneaky way of hiding the real cost and I think it stinks

Hi Kev,
thanks for your feedback, would have appreciated it a lot more on the actual day of your dining experience then on a social media platform, but that's your prerogative.
in regards to the "two menu's" without any other being available, that is because there is no other menu available, which is advertised everywhere our website, facebook, etc etc.
we have been hit hard by Covid19 the past year, as have many others, but hospitality was by far the titanic of the trades. to keep our staff employed, customers returning, power on etc, we have had to adopt the approach of a fixed price, not only for our advantage but for the advantage of our diners having somewhere to actually come back to, or we wouldnt be open.
its in no way shape or form, a "sneaky way" of hiding anything. if you had of asked myself, or any other wait staff on the day, we would have explained exactly what was explained to you in the above paragraph.
were sorry you feel that we "stink" but there is a difference between a bad smell, and a sense of one.. and we are neither.
enjoy your day. please dont hesitate to contact us on 5984 1500 if you would like to discuss this further.

Advertised on line as open until 3 pm but we arrived around 2.20pm to a closed sign on door saying ‘sorry we are closed see you tomorrow 11.30am’. We opened door and politely requested if coffee was available and we were told we could only have coffee outside ( in the very cold weather) we asked about chips etc and told no food available as the kitchen is CLOSED. No consideration at all for the customers it was all about what suits them. We used to frequent this spot but due to their attitude we won’t be returning.

thank you for your feedback we really do appreciate it.
we are open until 3.00pm that is correct, but our kitchen does not necessarily close at that time.
we call our kitchen times depending on how many guests, if we are at capacity, if all our bookings are in, and by 2.20pm when you arrived on a Sunday service, we informed you of this on arrival.
we only serve coffee in our outdoor area, as we are restricted by numbers inside from the government due to Covid19 policies.
it isn't about what suits us, its about logistics of running a business efficiently & effectively.
i would like to point out that you indeed stayed for coffee for 30 minutes with your 2 other guests.
if you think we are that un considerate, you were more than welcome to go else where, yet you chose to stay.

Great location on a clear warm night, staff were mostly friendly but a bit slow. Place was very noisy and crowded. Set menu is $59 for 2 courses but you can add sides for extra if needed. Food was yummy. If you can walk it is a good idea as parking can be tricky on a busy night. Bit disappointed that only some staff were wearing masks
