Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What a beautiful place to spend and have a summer holiday lunch. The food was bliss, the wine delicious and the wait staff excellent.

Sorrento is a destination, not a drive through and this foodie destination deserves an awesome reputation. We looked at a menu with a small but simply beautiful range of seasonal dishes with a distinctive balanced French fresh bias. Simon and his team augmented this with...a number of “special s”. The entire experience was filled with sublime dishes, an exceptional wine offering(including by the glass), and efficient, friendly knowledgeable servers! Worthy of the two hours trip from Melbourne. Not cheap, but exceptional experiences rarely are. Bon apetit indeed!More

Amazing expérience for the second time. The money you spend is really worth it. Talking about the food but also the service and the vibe that Simon and everybody brought. Will come back again for sure.

Quality French fine-dining with Happy Hour Oysters and elite wines by the glass. Horshradish duck-fat potatoes are a personal favourite.

This place was amazing. I have not made to trip to Paris as yet, but I hope the food is as good as this restaurant provided me with. Soupe à l’Oignon Gratinée; Caramelised onion soup, gratinated with baguette, pickled onions and Comte cheese - wow...so tasty and nothing like I though French Onion Souo would taste like. Mooloolaba king prawns cooked in anchovy butter with white bean brandade - absolutely delicious. Corn fed chicken and tarragon pie with verjus, Dijon mustard and hand made puff pastry - just divine and hot till the last mouthful – just the way I like it. Vanilla Crème Brûlée with Sablé Breton – I am not meant to eat dessert but after the entrée an main I could not resist., This did not disappoint. Highly recommend a visit when you are next in Sorrento. Definitely a great place for date night or a special occasion – or just for no reason at all really! Efficient and attentive staff topped off a wonderful night. Sorry I did not get any photos :) Would not recommend you take the kids – just enjoy!!More

On a two day visit to Sorrento we did some research for a special night out - we were pleased we chose Bistro Elba. Casual environment yet lovely service and the food was delicious. Considering the prices of other restaurants in Sorrento it was well...priced. Will visit again when next in Sorrento.More

One of the best meals we have had in a long time. The 1/2-price oyster hour from 5-6 sucked us in, and they were delicious. However, the food was magnificent. Plenty of choices for each course and the specials change regularly. The wine list had...a brilliant range of choices, there were some excellent wines available by the glass, and the sommelier knew his stuff if you were stuck for ideas. I couldn't recommend this more highly and would drive a long way to come back again. Turn up at 5:30 pm for the oysters, down a couple of dozen, and then stay for the top quality food and wine.More

We discovered Bistro Elba by accident nearly two years ago. It has now become very much our favourite, and we enjoy our regular visits. French inspired menu, a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, and first quality food and service. We have been may times and have...never had a bad or mediocre meal. Always first rate, presented well, and friendly, helpful service.More

After reading the menu, I was looking forward to our visit here. The venue is great and the menu read well but it under delivered in a big way. The white bait was tasty, but the serving was tiny. Four mouthfuls and it was finished....The soufflé was terrible. It had no flavour and was overcooked and tasteless. There was no crab at all and the bisque was not a bisque. It was over reduced stock with an unpleasant taste. My steak was rare, rather than the medium rare that was ordered. The jus was bland, thin and tasteless and the butter was unpleasant. I also hate my steak being pre sliced in the kitchen. I asked for a green salad on the side and received a tiny amount of under dressed leaves. I should have sent the soufflé and steak back and gone somewhere else. We had drinks at the Continental and the bar food there looked much better and was less expensive. My wife enjoyed her chicken pie. The waiter asked how our meals were and I told him. No apology but he said he would inform management. As if that is going to happen. I told I wouldn’t return and I recommend that readers of this choose somewhere else to dineMore

If you want to pay top dollar for awful hospital food, this is the place. Rib eye at $84 and potatoes at $14, $98!! Meat smelt, I think precooked heated in microwave - shocking presentation , probably worst meal we have had- so disappointing when...you think you are going for a nice night out. Something is not right at this place. We were given a discount of $24 but really not good enough. Picture shows what we were served. Literally left a bad taste in our mouths. Not sure where you’d get such bad food, incompressibleMore

I give this place a 4/5 rating as it just falls short of expectations. The menu is great and promising however the food just falls short. The chicken pie was borderline soup with a crusty lid. Barramundi was well cooked but ordinary. You will get...a reasonable meal here. The value is not there. I suppose it’s the tax you pay for a holiday destination convenience of eating out in a busy area.More

This is not a steakhouse - it is a lovely French cuisine restaurant with high ambition - which is confirmed when eating: I had excellent and very fresh oysters and a very smoothly charcoaled fish - together with very good wine! Btw: they have an...interesting selection of wine from all over the world - worth trying! Overmore, I especially loved the charming atmosphere (very relaxed and ‚french‘!). It is not cheap though…More
