The bistro smells from being locked up during covid. We ordered our meals at the public bar and waited about 15 mins for garlic bread the dinner came shortly after. The meals were adequate size and average. But…. Do go and support the locals who...suffered during bushfires and covid, after all the meals we got may reflect another chef the next night. The garlic bread was lovely.More

My husband was looking forward to Lambs fry & Bacon only to find out when we got there it was sold out, so he had the flathead tails which had way to much batter and the fish was dry, chips were just warm needless to...say he didn't enjoy his meal..... I had the pork belly which was well cooked but lacked flavour, the mashed potatoes were very sloppy, broccoli was in some sort of runny sauce.....I didn't enjoy the meal I left 3/4 of it to me it didn't have a balance.....very disappointed as we were in Orbost for the weekend and decided to support local....there were 7 of us and the others in the group had the same opinion of their meals...More

Having travelled throughout Tasmania over the last couple of weeks and then to Healesville for a couple of days I can honestly say we haven't had a bad meal. Until we got to this place. Where to start! The parmi tasted like no other parmi...my wife had ever had - hard to say exactly what the problem was other than to say it just didn't taste right. The mashed potato was watery, lumpy and inedible. All four of us tried it and it was all we could do not to spit it back out. My steak was ordered medium well - what I got was so well done it was a struggle to chew it and I had to help it down with my softdrink. Another of us had the flathead fillets which were mainly batter with very little fish. The fourth person had the roast and enjoyed it. Strangely it was served with cabbage and a baked potato rather than roast potatoes. Our entree of cheesy bacon bread was okay. The staff were friendly. Although the food is on the cheap side this is no excuse for the very poor quality.More

My husband and I ate at the Orbost Club Hotel last night. Expecting a standard of traditional country pub food we were blown away by the meals we received. My husband ordered the pork belly, which was tender and juicy while simultaneously having crispy crackling....I opted for the special of Gippsland Bisque. It was tremendous, plenty of perfectly cooked white fish, pipis and a taster of crab in a tremendous sauce, served with samphire and crumbed fennel. Both meals were very generous in proportion and very affordable. The staff were friendly and prompt in their service, as were the locals who pointed in the direction of the bistro. Don't be put of by the dated decorating, it kind of adds to the charm. If you are in Orbost definitely stop here for a meal.More

A pub this small in a small town has no business serving food this good. The food is amazing and better than any pub food I’ve had in Sydney! Recently had a Parma and it was topped with local fresh produce, in this case samphire...and my friends dish came with sea bananas! Don’t let looks deceive this venue is top notch and has local beer on tap, ice cold.More

One of the few places to have dinner at in Orbost this is probably the best. Fairly small bistro area, but great value meals, flathead tails with salad and chips for A$15 is great. Service is very good and staff attentive. We'll pop back again...another night.More

So we four friends on a motorcycle ride stayed one night at the Orbost Club Hotel. Beer was good as was the bar service. Food was appalling. The chilli prawn pasta was way too hot even for a seasoned chilli eater and the prawns were...like rubber. The upstairs accommodation was typical pub level. One out of three male showers was not usable and there were signs in the bathroom instructing patrons to vommit into bagged cardboard boxes. Real classy !!!More

We thought we’d support local businesses after the fires, on our return to Sydney from Melbourne by driving around the coast. For some reason Orbost fitted in with our plan so we found the Club Hotel appeared to have 4 star ratings so booked in...there. We checked in at the bar, where the guy behind the counter didn’t know how to check us in. So we had to wait for the ‘boss’ to turn up. He escorted us to our room past the ‘lounge’ which was a basic room with a few chairs and a tiny TV on the refrigerator in the corner. Our morning alarm was a VERY loud rooster crowing from 6am until at least 10am. Oh dear, whilst the room was cheap, it was so basic. A wardrobe with doors held together with a plastic chain, very creaky floors, no bedside lights ( a single overhead only), a 60s style dresser doubling as bedside tables. Shared bathroom with one loo, one shower and two basins for the entire accommodation block. And the ladies was miles from our room with narrow worn carpeted stairs down to another level. Not good at 3am. The window could be opened but no aircon or heating. The meal in the bistro was nice and country sized. We would NOT recommend this place unless you are desperate for shelter!More

The atmosphere was fantastic and for a small town there were an amazing range of things to do and the menu was fantastic Our meals came fast, no long waits, and were very well priced, We will definitely be going back regularly, they had draws...and raffles for the members on Friday nights and the prizes looked great, there were fresh meat trays, we instantly became members, can't wait to go backMore

The food was excellent, as were the restaurant staff. That’s about all. Anywhere that has signs requesting the guests vomit in one of the provided cardboard boxes is never going to be a pleasant place to stay. Bed was very uncomfortable, but I was only...paying $60 a night. However, the very bright light outside my window, coupled with the pathetic blind provided, meant that even if there wasn’t loud music, shouting and burn-outs in the street till 2:00am, I was never going to get to sleep. Honestly, I would have been better off sleeping in my car down by the sea.More

First up I must say the meal at the restaurant was great with very friendly service from the lady taking orders and serving. On the other hand it was a freezing cold night and our room had no heating, no TV, no shower or toilet...- had to walk down to the end of the corridor, and my husband even had to go down a floor for toilet and shower facilities. The room was at a very cheap rate - but I do think we should have been able to see the room and facilities before payment was made. Maybe even told that there was no heating in the room.More
