Online menu sounded promising. They got the garlic/cheese bread right. The mains just average pub food. Chairs in desperate need of cleaning or replacing!

Comfortable and relaxed setting, super friendly staff and wonderful food. Will certainly make the trip back up the mountain again to try the other dishes on offer. Highly recommended!
We had a lovely dinner here by the crackling open fire. They had a menu with lots of variety and the food was absolutely delicious!! The chips were so crispy - yum!!! My husband had the steak and mushroom pie and I had the Parmy....It was quiet but the atmosphere was old English pub and we loved it.More
We found the food was great, well priced and good sized servings. We would recommend this place to anyone in the area for lunch.
Went out for a drive with a friend and stopped here for lunch. Food was terrible. Reheated Parma terrible pie with so much pepper it was inedible. The parkas was a reheated god knows how many times, cheese was so plastic and pie pastry was...stale. Had a few mouthfuls and left.More
We have been there several times for lunch and always enjoyed the cosy atmosphere with the fire place, so inviting on a cold winter day. It is quiet and peaceful, a -place where you can actually talk without having tio raise your voice. I particularly...like the calamari or the fish and chip and the staff is always friendly and obligingt.More
I visited with my sister on a quiet, cold Monday night and was pleasantly surprised by the perfectly cooked rack of lamb.Great value from a very skilled chef. And the open fire was very welcoming .Thanks.
The staff were very friendly but the food highly processed tasteless and felt ill afterwards. Drinks over priced.
It is lovely to walk into a country pub and have that comfortable feeling that you're at home. The meals were good, especially all the parma options on their Parma night. Unfortunately the barramundi was a bit dry; this was our only real complaint
Rather charming, and in a nice location as well. Friendly staff, and some good beers on tap too. Not a favourite, but still pretty good.
We visited this hotel for lunch as part of a group. Meals were very expensive and were cooked with no seasoning, which resulted in all food tasting very bland.
Run down hotel and pub, really needs refreshing. That said, food was 'solid' pub fare and well priced. Service was spotty. Better options around
Stopped in here for dinner as staying nearby. Don't be put off by the exterior, this place serves awesome hearty meals. We both had rack of lamb served with mash, beans and a beautiful rich gravy. The lamb was cooked to perfection and not one...bone had meat left on it! Give them a go and you won't be dissapointed.More
The friendly greeting and able to pick our table, #17 middle of the lounge, a very nice atmosphere, the decor tired but had a real warmth to it. Specials, well last time we visited we had the 12 hour beef cheek, delicious, kids had the...Salt & peepr calamari, this time the Pork Ribs were highly recommended, i had them and my wife the beef cheek again to check qualityw as comparable, boom, spot on. So all up we recommend this hotel for family dinner and pricing was very reasonable, 4 mains under $100.00.More
The Mount Dandenong Hotel is our "go-to" pub for a quick cheap dinner between pay-cheques. Unlike some of its competitors, the pub is pretty basic, with no gimmicks, just good food and drink at pub prices. We go to other places in the hills for...something special, but there is nothing wrong with the Mount Dandenong Hotel. Okay, if you turn-up at 7.30pm on a Saturday night, you are odds-on to be sitting next to a table of 20 with at least half a dozen kids, mostly exuberant, occasionally not happy. So we go early at 6.30pm and generally miss the crowds. During the week it's even easier. The kitchen is its own world and the worst thing I can say about it is that occasionally one of the many specials reaches out and grabs you and the chef has to say: "Sorry, mate, just sold the last Pork Belly (or Salmon, or Lamb Shanks)." Standard pub grub but guaranteed to be excellent. The salt and pepper squid are a terrific starter and everything is very good to excellent. On our last visit we just had main courses and one shared dessert and the lot cost $51.40. Two glasses of wine and a lemonade was another $20.More
