Reading the reviews here mprior to writing about our experience, I wonder if we all visited the same establishment. We went for breakfast originally intending to go to Olinda Cafe but walked past ranges first and decided to go in. Staff were casual but friendly and we sat on the rear deck overlooking the trees. Our order was processed promptly, the juices much larger that expected and the sausage ordered as a side for our eggs turned out to be two, not one. The servings were generous and well presented. I can be a critical customer when things are not right but our experience was totally positive.

Sunday breakfast is a joy and today my friends and I tried Ranges at Olinda.
We were there right on opening while they were still setting up, but were quickly directed to a table. It was a pleasant morning, so we decided to change our table to one on the outside deck and enjoyed the fresh air of Olinda. Our very nice coffees came quickly and our nicely presented meals came shortly afterwards. Strangely, my partner couldn't have her eggs scrambled and had to settle for having them poached.
I selected smashed avo and I really enjoyed it. Another round of coffees finished off a good breakfast.

Maybe one of the only places for a meal in Olinda after Covid. Food was good well presented . Table service was fantastic. Staff attentive and were focussed Better than some of the star class hotels or restaurants.

Really very poor. No value for money here. Ordered a “lemon grass and ginger Tea” and got a twinings lemon and ginger tea bag in a cup! No fresh vegetables, all wilted and over due to be used up - service slow and flavour missing from the food. Chai latte tastes of just milk. This used to be a great spot but seems to be cashing in on a past reputation. Go Anywhere else Roof started leaking when the rain began too. Table service was friendly and polite.

Hi Matt . Thank you for adding your review, I have passed on the feedback and assure you we do use fresh produce! We only had positive reviews on Sunday, which was the busiest day of the week. We choose to use tea bags to minimise the waste down the sink and grease trap. Regarding the leak in the ceiling I have passed this on to our landlord. After research we are in line with pricing with competitors on the mountain. Thank you for taking your time to add a review after noting your feedback on the day and applying a goodwill discount. Our Chai Late is made with CalmerSutra Fresh Chai and is brewed to order, at no point was the issue brought up. At Ranges at Olinda we have a can do attitude and would certainly have corrected it if advised. Once again we appreciate your time adding the review and have passed on feedback to the team. We stopped there for lunch and were disappointed. We sat outside on the footpath for ages and had to end up walking in to find out that we had to order and pay in advance inside. We had to walk min again to find out after waiting over 1/2 hour when we would be served and told by a grumpy waiter that they were very busy and understaffed. My mountain bread ham and cheese sandwich turned out to be just a very disappointing plain toasted sandwich , overpriced for what it was. I certainly will not go back there.

We arrived and waited at the front door at the sign “Wait to be seated” behind a couple of other people. After 5 minutes no one had approached or acknowledged anyone at the door or in the queue. The couple in front then just walked in and we followed. We were told to grab a menu and find a table.... no Welcome.
We found a table that was vacant and clean. There would of been about 10 table free but 7 still had dishes from previous customers on them. We sat and read the menu and figured out what we wanted. A young lad took our order, but had very little knowledge of the menu or how to serve people. We asked for water and were told to help ourselves to a little stand set up. So I went and got two glasses of ambient temperature water, not even chilled...... 20 minutes we have been here now and still 7 tables with dishes left on them as the staff continue to walk around them.
A group sat behind us and the lad told them that there is approx a 30 minute wait for food, he said they were busy, (still half the tables empty with dirty dishes on them). Another couple sat down and just ordered coffee, she asked the young lady if they were busy, and she replied, “Nar, it’s quiet today, unlike the other day”. We were confused, One staff thinks it’s busy, another says it’s really quiet, one says it’s a 30 minute wait for food and yet no one clears the tables. We have been here 40 minutes now (wish we were told about the 30 minute wait) but at least we started having a laugh with other customers, all saying the we came for breakfast/brunch but will end up having Lunch.
50 minute mark our food arrived. We had been sitting for what felt ages.... and it arrived burnt. Eggs cooked correct, bacon like rocks and the bread was black.
What really tipped it off was when we left to pay, we weren’t even asked how were things or did we enjoy our meal, I guess they knew that there service and food were extremely poor.

We had breakfast here due to a voucher from our accommodation and wish we hadn’t bothered. We waited over an hour for our food and when it arrived every poached egg was overcooked and food was bland! Total waste of time. Following day we went to olinda cafe, perfectly cooked eggs came out on time. They have a nice outdoor area so it’s a shame the food was so bad and late.

So we have been here before, but our lunch time visit today needs to be reviewed so that others are not frustrated by the service and food. Entered and it was busy, but lots of free tables, but still touch 4 minutes to be seated. Then 10 minutes (only because I asked) to have our orders taken. Coffee came out another 10 minutes later and was cold. But then our order took 48 minutes and the meal was poor - something I would put together at home for an easy lunch. To the amazing waitresses, who were run off their feet and taking complaints left/right and centre - well done. But not going again - run down, poor service and the food was very simple.

We have eaten at the Ranges several times but this visit will be our last.
The restaurant is in need of a desperate face list with tacky tables.
The food when it came was disappointing the fish and chips were as hard as rock and nearly black, clearly yesterday’s offering reheated. The burger likewise seemed like yesterday’s, very dry and like leather. The cheese was burnt to a cinder and tasteless. The coleslaw that came with the calamari looked like it came direct from the supermarket pack with no dressing.
This restaurant looks like it’s dying, someone shoot it now and put it out of its misery.

Save yourself disappointment and go elsewhere. The food is poor, dry, old with absolutely no attention to detail (dry coleslaw, thin cardboard toast with no butter). When we asked for butter, it came in a dish swimming with water. When we provided feedback to the manager, he got defensive and refuted our comments ... which is the ultimate in poor customer service. Never again.

Arrived 12.45pm today for a nice little lunch. It was far from a full house & I now know why. We ordered lunch and 2 drinks. The drinks arrived with no hassle. After 40 minutes we asked how long it would be. The waiter said she would check & that was the last we saw of her!! People at other tables were told at 1.15pm that food was no longer on offer. After an hour we gave up & decided to leave - this was at just after 1.45 pm. The EFTPOS machine was not working so we had to pay for our drinks with cash - great in COVID days! I made it clear at the register (politely) that we had been waiting for over an hour & still had not received our meals - but the staff couldn't have cared less!! As I said, I do not wonder it was far from a full house on a (usually) busy Sunday lunchtime.

We live locally so I wanted to take a friend out for lunch today. No one clearly explained about the process for lunch and where we needed to wait since the cafe was full when we arrived. We were told that we needed to wait 30 minutes and while waiting other customers were queuing in front of me. When I asked this young woman about the wait (at that point it had already been about 10 minutes) she spoke rudely to me then about us needing to wait for 30 minutes). I was hoping to speak to the manager after two families had left the cafe to see if we could sit at one of the vacant tables and then this same staff member started telling him in front of other customers in an angry voice that she had already told me to wait. We will never return to this cafe because it was appalling to be spoken to like that when I was only asking a question. I was not rude or impolite at all! This cafe needs to think about the way they treat their customers!

Visited on a Sunday morning, the cafe was freezing, everyone was wearing their winter jackets trying to say warm. Coffee order came out wrong, food came out cold. I ordered the veggie breakfast and it tasted like it had been sitting there for a while, my partner ordered the smashed avocado and he said it was so cold it could have come straight out of the fridge, our daughters pancake was also ice cold. We could only eat a few bites before settling the expensive bill and walking up to the Olinda cafe for some delicious sausage rolls. Very disappointing.

We wouldn’t know what the food is like because we never got served. This is our 3rd attempt to dine here over time, it’s location is always favourable to us when in the area but it continually lets us down. There were very few customers at lunch time & the staff were just pottering around doing not much & not looking up at their customers. After a long period of being ignored we left. No one even noticed we had left. Sadly we will let this cafe be a memory from our childhood when the food & service used to be amazing. Very sad.

Despite only a few tables being occupied service was very slow.
Wait staff although very friendly seemed very young and inexperienced, running round like headless chooks.
Real shame as the food and coffee were great.
Restaurant had many many bugs and flies..both dead and alve aLong ceiLing amd Windows....DISGUSTING
