Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Had the eggs and goat curd on gluten free toast. Bread was high quality with seeds, egg serving enormous. Staff kindly allowed a half-serve of the berries & pancakes, which was generous and filling enough for dessert. Everything fresh and inside dining relaxed vibes.

We went there for lunch. Got a cosy table for two immediately, even though well into the lunch hour. We were seved immediately and asked if we'd like drinks. Given food menus and served with both drinks ks and food in no time. I had...a delightful combination of three gorgeous, seemingly home-grown-sourced poached eggs, on English muffins with ham and beautiful sauce. My dining partner enjoyed two big pancakes, caramel sauce with several large rashes of bacon. My meal was excellent and the quarter of hers I finished was also excellent. The place was friendly, efficient and quirky with lots of recycled material having gone into decorating the main room and the adjoining atrium room. It was a stroll through lovely garden path to the toilets out the back. Beautiful dining experienceMore

First time in Ocean Grove, as we’re staying in Bellarine Big 4 for the weekend - which is fantastic by the way. Upon arriving we were seated quite quickly and offered two tables to which we chose our preferred one. Service was nice and attentive....Food was expensive.. all we wanted was some nice bacon and eggs for breakfast. Clearly we chose the wrong type of cafe. Eggs ok, bacon absolutely disgusting!!! I’ve never in my life tried to eat such rock hard leather bacon! Ewwww! I couldn’t even pick it up with my fork let alone cut it. Kids would’nt even touch it. Waste of money we wished we chose another cafe. We won’t be back.More

Very unfortunate customer service. We have tried the cafe twice with the same experience each time, shockingly slow and disinterested staff and average food. With other options in OG, there’s not any reason to hit this spot anymore (at least not for us).More

I came here with my daughter for a girls breakfast. I understand that if you are busy you might not be able to tend to people right away but we waited 10 minutes to be seated. After sitting down it seemed that everyone was ignoring...us. We didn’t get our order taken until 20 minutes after being sat. After waiting an HOUR for our food I was starving and expected an amazing meal according to all of the kind reviews. I had ordered the lemon sugar pancakes. TERRIBLE. Too bitter to even eat! I had one bite out of the terrible meal and couldn’t finish it so I figured the kind waitress that was ignoring us the whole time would take it off our bill. So we head up to the front and kindly ask them to take it off and they are terrible! The rudest people I have ever met! I kindly asked the girl working the cash register to take it off my bill because I didn’t eat it and this rando butts in and states that they use “real lemon juice.” Okay does it not process in your brain that not all lemons are sweet? Once again not talking to the man I kindly asked her to take it off the bill and he mutters under his breath,” well thousands of people order it…so.” That ride encounter had me in tears. I was not being mean at all but this man was just the rudest Man I have ever met. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE.More

We have visited the Driftwood multiple times over the years as it’s local and we’ve never had a bad meal, in fact often in my job dealing with the public and visitors to the area I recommend the Driftwood to them for a great place...to eat. But my view and view of my wife as well after our visit this weekend have changed. We went for lunch on Saturday with a voucher for a meal we received off family for Xmas as they know how much we like it there. But we were very disappointed meal the service was a little chaotic as I think they have some new staff, but they were very obliging and friendly. Where it fell apart was with the food, we both ordered the B.L.A.T which is bacon, lettuce, Avocado , Tomato on toasted sourdough bread with chips, pretty simple you’d think?. But not the chips were really shoe string fries which came with a portion smaller than a McDonald’s small fries. The toasted sourdough was dry and tasteless like cardboard as if it had been made ages ago and was left out to just be plonked on a plate later. The bacon was tough and dry and was probably done the same as the sourdough just cooked in a big batch and served up later. The Avocado and tomato which were the only part of the meal not cooked was perfect, it was the rest of the meal that let it all down. I don’t know where the owner was as we couldn’t see him but all I can say is if this is the standard set for the future then us being locals will be eating else where. I hope this was just a one off but we won’t be rushing back soon, what a shame.More

AMAZING COFFEE! Best coffee I've ever had. Most of the family had the pancakes and they were enjoyed by all. We can not go past The Driftwood Cafe! It is our go-to whenever we are in Ocean Grove. The coffee is exceptional, and the food is awesome! Free-range eggs and bacon (you get 3 eggs!!!) is a winner for my husband, though my favourite is...the Seasonal greens with crispy kale! Our 2 boys love it too and there is always something for everyone. The staff are friendly, even when under pressure. Can’t recommend this place more highly!More
