Can’t complain about the food at all. Tasty burgers and beer that hit the spot. We had very full, happy bellies. Service however was average at best, with barely an acknowledgement the whole time we we there. Too busy spending time chatting to other people...and amongst themselves. The only disappointing part of the overall experience.More

Four of us had burgers, fries and onion rings - all sensational ! Burgers juicy and full of favour, real meat and yummy cheese pickles . We loved the fries - way too moorish, as was the warm choc fudge brownie - yum !!!!! Service...was fine.More

The location is central and the beer is great. Not really much to write up about the food - burgers are average to good and fries ok.

Some weeks ago we had a booking mix up and a gentleman from Blackmans personally rang me to apologise and also dropped a gift voucher to our home, which was such a unexpected thing to do. Last night we used that voucher, plus abit more...and we had a wonderful night. I had the beer tasting paddle with the share meat and cheese board, went very well together! Loved the honey with the board, I have never had honey with cheese, meat and biscuits before and I definitely will again!! After that I had the burger bowl (burger without bread), so filling but so tasty :) My son couldn’t eat all of his burger and croquettes but he gave them a good nudge, loved it. Service was very prompt, maybe a little to prompt as the main came out to quick, or perhaps next time we will just order our entree, have it, then order more. Great friendly, catch up restaurant, even just for a few beers. We will be back and thank you again for the voucher :)More

Great catch up with friends, nice beer and food with a couple of different waitress on top of refills when req. Unfortunately a very rude young guy informing the group we have 25 minutes to leave the table to then come back 20 minutes later...and basically kick us out. Everybody is aware that COVID restrictions have been tough on hospitality, but this kid needs to be aware he is in hospitality and needs to act accordingly or get a new job Nice beer and food, very average experience.More

The thing of particular note in this establishment is the very good beer, and the staff were efficient and pleasant. But that's about as far as the accolades go; the place, with its minimalist decor, lacks a welcoming ambiance and the food, other than the...chips, left much to be desired. I certainly wouldn't eat there again. Would I go there for a pint of beer? I'm unsure, the drink beckons but the rather austere place is off-putting.More

AWFUL! A big black dirty hair in my burger! We were the only 3 people in the restaurant and it took over 20 minutes to get our burgers! I received the burger to find a dirty black hair in the middle of it, luckily I’d...cut in in half. Waited another 15 minutes for a replacement but then couldn’t stomach it! Also, would have thought when you order a burger for $16 plus it would come with chips! No...just a burger in a basket, chips are extra $$. And for that price for a chicken burger I’d expect a fillet in it not a thigh! Very disappointing and definitely won’t be going back.More

To put in simply... I’m so disappointed. We went into Blackman’s with a group of friends and were told to take a seat by the young blonde waitress. We took a seat and started chatting away. 15 mins went by and we noticed that no...waiters were looking like might come over and take our orders, so we waited a little longer. 25mins went by and still no service. The reason we waited was because we have been there before and knew that it was table service. Eventually we went up and ordered individually. The food took 20 mins to come out which is alright, but it wasn’t very busy and it usually doesn’t take long. I ordered the vegan burger with a side of chips (as the chips don’t come with the burgers, they’re a separate order) the burger was tiny, very tiny, much smaller than the meat burgers and the extra chips.... a small handful, I would of thought you would get a lot more if you have to pay extra for it? $22.... for a tiny burger and chips.... I seriously can’t believe it. Where is the love? Not to mention that another group of people walked in after we had finished eating and got table service straight away, and their food came out in 10mins. For a local burger place with so much potential, all I can say is do better, and keep it consistent. You need to keep us locals happy, especially with the winter months coming up.More

Popped in here for a quick dinner. Very noisy due to the places design. Music very loud so then people talked louder to be heard. The waiter who served us, a tall bald guy, was helpful and attentive and very friendly. Other waiting staff seemed...more happy with talking to each other rather than making customers feel welcome. Fortunately the burgers and beer were amazing. Beautiful flavours and you can purchase beer to take away if you want too.More

Having just visited the Torquay Brewery the week before, when I found myself in Ocean Grove for dinner the next week I was keen to try a different burger. I was slightly disappointed that these guys didn’t have the pizzas on offer like they had...in torquay as I was had thought to try one next- but that is in the name “Blackmans Burger Bar” (and I just hadn’t realised that haha) The burgers were all knockouts! I had the southern fried chicken which had a slaw and epic sauce. Dad has the fish burger which I was jealous of and my partner had the angus burger which I had already tried but was also jealous of haha. Chips were great, and we also shared a page of onion rings which were banging- especially washed down with pints of the OG XPA, which was different to the torquay XPA, but equally as awesome! The burgers were served in little red baskets (rather than plates) which definitely gives this place an even more casual vibe than the torquay one, windows in the building were all open which added to the ambiance on a nice summers day! We will definitely return!More

Went to Blackman's burger bar in Ocean Grove with a colleague of mine. The Bar staff went above and beyond when helping me choose which beverage I was going to have by giving me a selection of tasters. Was a great place to go for...a knock off bev!!!More

The burgers were great, the fries were great. Efficient, friendly staff. The acoustics really let this place down. Although there were only about 30 people seated it was too noisy to be relaxing and difficult to hold a decent conversation across the table! Sorry won’t...be back.More
