We were staying one night in Nagambie and glad we chose Thai by the Lake for dinner. The restaurant was inviting and cosy, with friendly and helpful staff. The food was authentic and delicious. It was also nice to chat to the engaging owner/chef, Tan.

My wife and I had dinner here during our recent holiday. We were staying at the Nagambie Waterfront Motel, which is within a short walking distance across the road. We had dined in this restaurant last year and enjoyed it. We ordered Tom Yum Prawns,...Panang Curry Chicken and steamed jasmine rice. The food was delicious and service was good. We were on our weekend away for my partner's Birthday celebration at the Mitchelton Hotel staycation. On our first night, we dine at the Muse. Then our 2nd night, my partner's celebration would not be complete without his typical authentic Thai cuisine. So I turned...to my travel partner, the Trop Advisor, for a nearby recommendation, and Thai by the River was listed as the 4th best restaurant, not to mention they won the 2022 most recommended restaurant as well. So I rang, and the owner pleasantly scheduled us for 6:30 pm. We turned up 15 minutes early as we were so hungry after a spa treatment. The young waitress pleasantly ushered us to our choice of table, and we got a two-seaters table in the middle to stay out of the cold. We ordered four dishes as we assumed the service would be just like our standard Melbourne portion without realising theirs were so generous the portion was double what we expected. Not only that, the food was very delicious, and it was served out quickly, just perfect to feed our hunger appetiser. We almost finished all 4 dishes to ourselves, we enjoyed our food and the atmosphere. The owner/chef was out & about to make sure we were happy with all dishes. We thank Thai by the River for serving us beautiful food with the best vibe. We will be sure to return and highly recommend anyone in the area not to miss out on the best of the best authentic Thai.More

Back again and again the meal was absolutely too shel and well priced. The service was exceptional with nothing being too much trouble. No wonder it is always busy superb.

We have a delicious meal here on Saturday night. Very busy but staff still very attentive. We had crispy fish salad , honey duck with vegetables and vegetable fried rice. All so freshly prepared and yummy! We wish we lived closer. When we get back...to Nagambie we will definitely eat here again.More

My partner and I are staying in Negambie a few days and had to try this Thai Restaurant . We were only getting takeaway, but after walking in the restaurant we wish we ate in because the atmosphere was so calming and the owner so...welcoming . Not to mention the food was incredible . We will definitely be visiting again and eating at this restaurant .More

We were staying at The Mitchelton and were looking for a venue in town to have dinner as we had already eaten at the hotel restaurant Muse. This seemed to be the best reviewed option in the area and we love Thai Food so made...a booking. The place is not large but most tables were already filled when we arrived. We ordered prawn spring rolls and when we were almost finnished realised they were vegetarian spring rolls. We clearly ordered prawn spring rolls and the youg girl serving us didnt listen. Quite disappointing that she did not listen but we didnt return the dish. For mains we had chicken fried rice and pran basil stir fry. Both these dishes were tasty. Other than a wrong order delivered it was a good dining experience.More

Great authentic Thai food. We think this restaurant has the best Thai fish cakes that we have ever had. Restaurant is spotless and the owner chef is delightful. Great menu choices available - red duck curry and chilli fried rice will take you to Bangkok.

Been here twice so far as we absolutely love this restaurant. We’re big fans of Thai food and the flavours, freshness and deliciousness is spot on! The jungle curry is definitely recommended if you like it hot, and you can’t go wrong with the pad...Thai or red duck curry. One of the best chicken satays we’ve had… satay sauce is so good! Try the Thai lemon ice tea… perfect match or BYO if you’re after a beer or wine. Service was fast, efficient and friendly. Do yourself a favour and try it!!More
