Best in Mansfield

Pre covid-19, not too long after The Fields opened, we were there on a Saturday evening. The place was full and the food, service, staff knowledge of menu, wine suggestions to accompany food choices. In a word "faultless". Three months later after they had survived doing take away meals, they re-opened adhering to the government seating restrictions, a Thursday evening dinner and again the same as our very first dinner...fantastic, if not even a touch better. The entire restaurant exterior has been renovated to allow an enclosed weatherproof area. The place in the evening with such well placed lighting and table layout just makes it so appealing.

Delicious and different

This is a new bar and eatery in Mansfield. The menu offers small dishes and some mains. As a group of three we ordered 4 small dishes - Prawn dumplings, Chickpea and Parmesan chips, chicken wings and charred greens. This was a fabulous combination being spicy, creamy and a blast in the mouth. The Canberra Sangiovese was the perfect wine. One person did not like spicy food but it was easy to wipe off the sauce and then everyone was very happy. We followed up by sharing two slices of the Basque cheesecake. Sharing was a good recommendation from the waitress as it was very rich but oh so delicious. Fabulous service. I noticed that mains took longer to arrive whereas our meal came pretty quickly and the place was packed, inside and out.

Fabulous gastronomic experience

Mansfield has a new kid on the block and Its so worth a visit!! A welcome and much needed addition to the local dining scene. Friendly service in a beautiful, laid-back setting, a bit of Brunswick/Fitzroy in the country (love it) this place does not disappoint. Serving up dishes from lunch time right through to dinner, so great for an early dinnner or after work drinks and nibbles. The menu is designed to be shared with small, medium and large dishes to pick from, the menu has a modern Japanese and Moroccan flavour which we loved and have missed since moving from Melbourne. The lamb, melted in your mouth and was delicious, as were the chickpea & parmesan chips, fried dumplings, cauliflower and tahini dish and baked cheese cake, all just divine - we can not fault the food or service. We will definitely be back to work our way through the menu, we can see this being our local go too, for after work drinks or a lazy Sunday sessions. A must when in Mansfield.

High quality tasty food with a beautiful setting

I visited this beautiful brand new restaurant for lunch with my friend when I stayed the night in Mansfield. I did not know what to order because everything seemed amazing, so Bonnie and her team took me through the menu and served me and my friend the kimchi fries, BBQ corn, spicy chicken wings, asian greens & the prawn dumplings. Every dish was incredibly delicious! They have the flavour combinations on point. The staff are very welcoming and knowledgeable. If you are vegan or vegetarian there are plenty of choices for you. Also if you have dogs you'll be pleased to know this restaurant is dog friendly! It's definitely a good find in Mansfield and not one to miss! Cannot recommend more.

Trendy, modern, foodie experience

This elegant and upmarket restaurant offered us a memorial dining experience from delicious cocktails to exquisitely prepared dishes. The beautiful hand glazed plates were warmed and care was taken to use quality glasses and cutlery. We sat in the al fresco area as it was a warm summer evening and enjoyed the ambiance. Staff were well trained and attentive and the food was absolutely delicious. The quality and style of the food, service and dining experience was comparable to an upmarket establishment in Melbourne. The Beef Cheek rendang, baked cauliflower, and crispy chicken were spot on, while my Midsummer cocktail was very satisfying. Definitely worth another visit.

If in Mansfield you MUST experience The Fields food!

The Tapas Menu is to die for, fresh quality seafood on offer as well as their popular Fried Chicken & Dumplings, Pork Belly Boa Buns plus too much food options to mention, Burgers galore as well as a large arrange of Vegetarian food - plenty of varity to cater to everyones tastes. Wine/Drinks/Cocktail list extensive. Attentive wait staff and their "summer club" area is a hit with last minute eat ideas. Well done guys, we loved the whole atmosphere and will be back!

A lucky find!

We arrived in Mansfield on a busy Saturday a little unsure that we'd be able to find a place to sit in for lunch. The first place we walked past was The Fields so we decided to see if there were any tables. Luckily there was, but after us we saw a lot of people get sent away. We all ordered burgers, whilst it wasn't on the menu they did a kids cheeseburger which my daughter loved. All of us made slight adjustments to our order eg. no pickles and it was not a problem at all. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. As well as the burgers we had a serve of chips, everything was really tasty. I'd go back to Mansfield just to eat here again. Next time though I'd be a little more adventurous as the other menu items looked delicious!

Took some out of town friends

Took some out of town friends for dinner last night and while the food was delicious as usual, the service was lacking. I know that everyone in Mansfield is looking for staff and we are in difficult times, but maybe the concentration on the cocktails is too much. We ordered drinks and later ordered food,the ladies drinks arrived then our food and we had to ask twice for the men’s drinks . We had to ask twice for our desserts. Will be back for the delicious food but you need to improve on the service.

Food so tasty and service top notch

It was a very busy Saturday night for this new player on the Mansfield food scene but they did so well. The braised lamb is amazing and we shared some dishes so tastes of the pork lettuce cups and cured trout were so good we will just have to come back. Not being able to book a table for less than 6 is something that the operators will need to consider as it is not a great first impression but if you are prepared to take the risk of having to wait for a table, it is worth it.

Have been 3 times in the last 2 weeks - lunch & dinner and have not been disappointed each visit . Asian infused ,great flavour ,very fresh ,good variety to choose from on the menu,Crispy prawn dumpling to die for(chilli on the side 2nd time around ) , loved the calamari and the crispy chicken is a definite winner Cocktails really good - good variety Service ( 3 times ) was fabulous by all the staff 👍👍 Great to have the quality of food in Mansfield to enjoy . Congratulations guys - great work

The food was absolutely brilliant. There were so many items on the menu that we wanted to try and our waiter was able to assist with portion sizes and recommendations. Cocktails we also a star attraction. Can not recommend highly enough and can not wait to go again. Thank you so much.

Delicious & Hyggeligt!

Bonnie and her team guided us through the menu and we were completely blown away, it was soooo good! My partner is a chef and he can't stop talking about the whipped cod roe (even weeks later!) For me, the stand out was the sticky eggplant 'san choy bow', the eggplant was cooked to absolute perfection, a crispy shell coated in a sticky glaze, which contrasted perfectly with the soft, gooey centre. It oozed deliciousness (and also down my chin, thank goodness for the complimentary hand wipes!). Needless to say, we all left feeling extremely satisfied! If you are lucky enough to live locally, or are passing through, you must try this place - it is too good to miss out!

MUST VISIT!

The chef is a genius! Like seriously - every single dish that comes out of The Fields is one of the tastiest, freshest, most creative things you’ve ever eaten. Kimchi fries. Yum. Mushroom Jamaican Jerk Burger. Yum. Dumplings with Sambal. Yum. Don’t hesitate to go to this place.

Go There Now!

By far one of the best places you can eat in the region and worth a drive up from Melbourne too. From the best fried chicken you ever ate to the charred greens and the little cats sandwiches are just mind blowing. Who would have thought a place like this would be in Mansfield and the coffee is pro. Staff were friendly, good to have a laugh with and the music was just what we like. Highly recommend what ever is on special but you have to stay connected to the instagram account for it.mn.

Lived Up to our Expectations.

Enjoying food we wouldn't cook ourselves, "The Fields" seemed a good option. Great choice. Having had a main course lunch we opted for four smaller shared plates. Just the right amount, tasty and nicely presented. The drinks menu offered a selection of cocktails, wines, beers, spirits as well as non alcoholic choices. The staff were all efficient, willing to answer questions about the menu and appeared to be enjoying serving their customers. A great option for eating out in Mansfield that we'd like to revisit.
