Going by the majority of reviews, the meals would probably be nice. However, the shop front, windows, door etc looked very dirty so we didn’t dare try it.
Dropped into Lucy's for lunch. It is Asian cruise. We sat at a table outside under the veranda. Great day for it. We ordered a prawn, garlic and vegetables and a szechuan beef with a small special fried rice, plus 2 coffees - latte and...strong long black. We could smell our meal being cooked (we were the only ones there at that stage). If the meal was as good as it smelt we were going to be happy customers. The meal was as good as it smelt cooking. Partner had around 15 large prawns on her plate and the vegies were firm but not under cooked, and the szchuan beef had a lovely taste and mild to warm spicy taste to it. The coffees were spot on. I notice mixed reviews but from our experience we can recommend Lucy's.More
Great food, unique service and the best Asian dining for kms. The food is cooked fresh and is delicious. It’s a help yourself restaurant, by getting your own glasses and ordering at the counter. It’s not a 5 star restaurant nor does it pretend to...be but definitely worth going to when in Mallacoota.More
After reading the reviews, perhaps my expectations were too high. Homemade rice noodles.... Asian owner in a country town... rave reviews. I was not expecting Hong Kong, Melbourne or even Box Hill standards but I dreamed. Sadly my experience was poor. I rang to book...as I expected a busy night. Reservation was taken, but she didn’t ask me for my name or number. Not looking good. When I arrived I realised why. It was packed, there was a line 10 people deep at the counter, they were totally understaffed and overwhelmed. To their credit 4 of them were doing the work of 8 and kept a smile on their faces. We settled in and were patient. Sadly the food was very poor. The dim sum was low cost commercial grade straight from the freezer (maybe if you rarely eat this food you would not know the difference, but I do). The noodles were flavourless. They came with say 3cms of watery liquid in the bottom of the bowl. Not noodle soup, not noodles with sauce... something in between. The beef that came with “beef noodles” were cold slices of very dry, fat-less roasted piece of beef. Genuinely terrible. We ate about half and had to leave. I gave them a 2 star because they are clearly nice people trying their best given the spike in local tourism. On another note, numerous older locals who knew the owner by name, were not wearing masks (mandatory government restrictions were in place). Everyone else was wearing them as they entered, stood in the line, or got up to use the facilities. Not the locals. Insert political comment here.... bushfire recovery, help us recover, etc.More
Disappointed all around..Caois and unorganised service.. Waited ages to be seated.. Had to get my own menu and drinks.. Dumplings weren't great. Abalone and squid noodle dish was disappointing. It was tough and way too many noodles on the dish. Sat next to a dirty...window full of cob webs which was off putting and no air con or fan in alfresco area.More
First time dining at Lucy’s. The meals were great. Fresh, flavoursome food. We ate dumplings, beef and black bean, beef fillet with pepper sauce- delicious, garlic prawns also delicious. A bit a wait for food due to the crowd, but worth it.
Best food in town !! Food can sometimes take a minute but it’s definitely worth the wait. Food is cooked fresh. Best soy hot chocolates too and great coffee!! Definitely try out this place, you won’t be let down!
We’ve been coming up here for about 10 years, several visits per trip is a must. First dish anyone should try are her dumplings, they are oozing with freshness, she grows most of her own veggies and herbs. I have not tasted fresher tastier dumplings...ever. Other dishes that stand out are the rainbow beef, honey prawns, and calamari. Though anything you order you can’t go wrong. Mallacoota is a fabulous town only made better by Lucy’s.More
Yes we made another year after having to miss last year due to the disastrous bush fires. Same story Lucy continues to cook up a storm. Highly recommend the combination chow main and the salt and pepper white bait. So good
