Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Set in one of Lilydale's beautiful tree lined streets, Gracious Grace is right next door to the historic Athenaeum Theatre and Lilydale Museum. The outdoor area at the rear of the restaurant looks over a delightful treed area, excellent spot for a coffee or meal....The coffee is great and meals are delicious. Well worth a visit.More

Went here today for my Birthday with all my family, a group of 13. The staff were very accommodating for our group and very friendly. The food was amazing, the best hollandaise sauce ever. Thankyou

Overpriced, poor quality and slow service. I thought I’d try this place for breakfast after having driven past it a few times. What s disappointment. When I arrived there was almost nobody here and I ordered coffee and “baked eggs”. I’d never heard of baked...eggs before and now I know why. The staff asked me if I wanted the coffee and food together and I said yes. I waited 20 mins for the coffee and then another 25 mins for the food after that. When the food arrived, it was on some crappy wooden tray with cold, white buttered toast on a small plate. Next to the plate was a metal camping dish with beans, and these dried out egg things which tasted like eggs that had been fried and left in the frypan for an hour. It was horrible. No large plate, not nice flavour and greasy as a tub of sump oil. When the food was served I asked for another coffee. It never came. On the plus side, the staff were polite.More

Lovely food and both indoor and outdoor seating good, although the umbrellas outside don’t provide a lot of shade at certain tables

Makes really good coffees and super yummy gluten-free dairy-free cake, but the pieces just keep getting smaller and smaller over time to the point it's just highway robbery now 😔 Despite raising the issue and providing an opportunity to rectify the most recent occurrence, there...was zero care factor. Spend your money elsewhere with a business that isn't knowingly ripping you off!More

A table for 6 was booked for mid-afternoon on a weekday, but unfortunately, 4 people cancelled. This shouldn't have mattered, as the cafe was largely empty, with 4 other customers seated, one inside and 3 outside, . The manager seemed annoyed that there were cancellations...from our table, and my friend was currently seated alone (there was another lone woman seated elsewhere). When I arrived, there was 30 minutes left of service, and to keep it simple, I ordered an iced coffee. I was told it would have to be in a takeaway cup, and I asked if they were the same size as the normal glasses (they were). I haven't been there before, and was surprised that the iced coffee was quite plain, a tiny bit of icecream floating on top, and a little shaved chocolate (I assume) on top of that. The drink had no sweetener at all, and I mentioned it to my friend, who said she'd ask for some (there was no sweetener on the tables). She went to the counter and said there was no sweetener in the iced coffee and could she have some. Nothing more. The manager wasn't happy, and she brought a small container of what I think was maple syrup essence (not the real deal) and she complained as she brought it to the table, stating that I was supposed to ask when ordering. I explained that I hadn't been there before, and had no idea that I had to ask, and why didn't the server offer sweetener when I placed my order? No attitude from me, just a simple explanation and question in reply. The manager wasn't happy, mumbling as she left. My friend asked what the matter was, and the manager bizarrely said "I don't appreciate you treating myself or my staff like that." "Like what?" my friend asked. Literally, she had just asked for sweetener. When we left, there were still people seated outside, and the other inside woman had just left. My friend spoke again to the manager, and said, simply, "I don't know why you have an issue, we didn't speak badly to your staff, and you were quite rude." The manager wasn't happy. Seriously crabby. Will never go there again, with attitude like that. I will let my friends know of our experience. It was sad that we've recently felt okay about going out and eating in a public setting, and the "customer service" staff seemed intent on making us feel unwelcome.More

We visited for Sunday lunch and were seated on the terrace at the back of the restaurant which overlooked the park and was very pleasant. I wasn’t that impressed with the lunch/dinner menu but the breakfast menu was lovely. My order was the Eggs Benedict,...with montrose smoked ham hock, poached eggs and hollandaise sauce on sourdough – delicious with plenty of ham hock, soft eggs and two thick slices of toast. Others chose Mark’s big breakfast, 2 eggs (cooked your way), bacon, sausage, tomatoes, mushrooms, and pork belly – very generous and tasty but did not come with sauce or chutney. After requesting some a pot of home-made tomato relish was provided. The corn and zucchini fritters with chilli jam and fresh herbs were pronounced yummy and were a generous serve. The Tez burger, beef patty, bacon, cheese, lettuce, tomato, house pickles, American mustard and house made ketchup served on a fresh baked brioche bun and a basket of chips were ok but nothing special. Overall, the food was of an excellent quality but unfortunately the same can’t be said of the serving staff. The restaurant was not full due to Covid restrictions, but we had to ask for water, follow up on meal orders and ask for dishes to be cleared. On ordering a cup of tea we were asked did we want milk? Yes we replied – the tea arrived without milk and we had to make two requests before it arrived. Would we return – yes but would be hopeful of better service.More

I always enjoy a Sunday breakfast with friends. This Sunday was particularly cool for a summer's day with the temperature at about 12° - 13° when we arrived at Gracious Grace in Lilydale. We were still cold after we'd been seated at our table from...a breeze blowing through 2 doors that had been left open. The relief was immediate after we asked the staff to close the doors. Ordering is at the counter and the teas and coffees arrived quickly. I can't vouch for the tea, but the coffee was very nice. After a short wait, our meals arrived. I had the scrambled eggs and my friends had: a lemon and pistachio cake; Marks big breakfast and buttermilk pancakes. My scrambled eggs were quite nice and would score a 3 out of 5. The lemon and pistachio cake was very nice and scored 4 out of 5. Marks big breakfast, 3 out of 5. The buttermilk pancakes were very thick and not pleasant to eat, scoring 1.5 out of 5. The staff were cheerful and helpful. The selection of cakes on display looked very appetising. Knowing that there are some very good cafes in Lilydale, I think I would try somewhere else before going back to Gracious Grace.More

What a great place no only by sheer design and layout but also the service and the consumable offerings. Situated in a oak tree lined side street in a very edgy modern building this café has not disappointed, quite the opposite. I love their unusual,...very tasty savory and sweet delights. The outside terrace at the back is a hidden gem. There was generous indoor and outdoor seating, as I believe you can also book all or part of the venue for a private function. Parking is super easy and plentiful and the Lilydale train station would be a 5 minute walk tops. Well done and we will be back for sure.More

Lovely, bright & spacious café with all day breakfast & lunch menus including vegetarian options. The staff were friendly & very accommodating with our somewhat noisy group of 12. Orders are placed at the counter so great for avoiding split bill issues. Fully licenced with...a good variety wine list. Meals were served efficiently & we were all able to dine together. Meals were a generous serve & the barramundi salad was full of flavour. We were never rushed & spent the whole afternoon relaxing with coffees to finish.More
