Would thoroughly recommend , good food good service.The sashimi was a really good quality ,equivalent to any we ate in Japan. Have saki on tap . Took one bottle of wine for two people $10.00 corkage charge

Best Japanese meal

We were staying at the RACV at Inverloch for a couple of nights mid-week and decided to have lunch at Tomo's on the way there. What a great place. The exterior is not particularly attractive and the interior is pretty quirky but, who cares, the food was wonderful. A very comprehensive menu had us reeling from the choices but we eventually settled on the grilled eel (the best I've ever had and a sizeable serving), the blue swimmer crab in tempura, the grilled duck with mushrooms and cabbage and the lamb chops with wasabi mash and vegetables. Two bottles of Kirin, some warm sake and a bottle of Torbreck shiraz also went down very well. Service throughout was friendly and efficient despite the place being busy - particularly with a significant number of people dropping in for their takeaway lunch.

Authentic Japanese with wider variety of dishes than a lot of Japanese restaurants in Australia: felt more like being in Japan. Decor is pretty average but that's authentic too. Very good flavours. Scallop sashimi (which I see rarely on menus here) was a good as I had in JapanSuch a lovely experience!

Food good, service average, and way overpriced

It's a shame, because the food was nice, but it was overpriced, Japanese is my favourite and we dine at Japanese restaurants a lot and were a little surprised at the sizes for the cost. However I'm happy to pay for quality but the service didn't match it, I felt bad the poor girl serving us was lovely but clearly hadn't been trained properly, we had to ask for soy sauce for our sushi, but she was busy as the place is clearly understaffed and when you're paying the prices that we paid you'd expect more. Only the night before we dined at bayside ladynext door and their wait staff I praised as they thought of things before I even thought of it and clearly knew what they were doing. It's a real shame as it has so much potential. We left feeling disappointed

I found the food to be very basic with limited choices. All the sauces tasted the same: sauce on prawn dumplings tasted the same as that with the chicken teriyaki as that with the grilled chicken. Very salty. Meat was cooked very well. Very tender. Service was quick. Almost too quick.

We had the deep fried prawn dumpling-these were nice enough but the sauce had no taste. The sushi and sashimi were okay but didn’t taste as fresh as I hoped. The salmon with wasabi mash was a bland salmon but the mash had an interesting flavour. I wouldn’t go back.

Overcrowded. Lovely staff.

We had dinner here this week. Its very popular and the food is very good. Every table was full in a small space, probably not a good idea at the moment with Covid. It was also noisy. Maybe too many booked at 6 and 6.30. Everyone seemed to arrive at once. Our bill was very expensive for 4 people (over $300) and we had 1 diet coke, 2 beers and between us, 4 glasses of wine. I thought the one crepe bought for dessert was pretty simple for the cost. ($16 I think) Based on that I wouldnt rush to return there.

Good Japanese food

Surprised to find such good Japanese food in Inverloch. Service was good as well. As it was a special occasion - my friends' birthday we decided to go somewhere special and glad that we chose Tomo. Pretty high standard Japanese food as one of my friend goes to Japan quite frequently and just loved the food offered in Tomo.

Excellent Meal at Tomo

We had dinner with friends (who are regular holiday goers i Inverloch) at Tomo. Being a group of four, we were able to order a wide selection from the menu. The highlight was probably the sushi and sashimi. But, all the dishes were excellent. This should be your first port of call if you are eating out in Inverloch

Great Japanese find by the coast

We only found this restaurant on a review list as being good and as we were planning to stay at Inverloch for a week we decided to try it. It’s fairly small and was almost full when we arrived at 6:30. There seemed to be be quite a few locals or people who come down for the weekend. It was clearly popular. The food was very good. As we had a platter of sushi and sashimi you can always tell if it’s fresh. We were with another couple and we limited ourselves to the fish and vegetables menu. Everything is designed to share and we had a dish of soft shell crab and another of mixed prawn and vegetable tempura. We finished with a dish of tofu in their own sauce which came as a soup. At the bottom it was fiery with chilli. They had a good selection of wines and the service was very prompt. There is no BYO but thought the overall price was very reasonable. They are not open late so they keep things moving.

Really delicious, fresh Japanese food at this little restaurant. Good attentive service. Fresh sashimi, perfect fresh oysters, and great duck. What more to wish for on a rainy, summer night. Thank you Tomo.

Just beautiful food. We had a friend who had never had Japanese food. She tried everything and was so happy with her introduction. Will definitely be back. Staff were attentive. Highly recommend

Great Japanese food & service

Great Japanese food and friendly service. One of the few places open mid-week in inverloch, so make sure you book. Miso duck & yuzu lamb recommended.
