Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had 3 short stays in Healesville in the past 7-8 months and we visited Herd Bar & Grill on every trip. Once for dinner and twice for drinks and light meals. NEVER disappoints - great, friendly service, good atmosphere and delicious Thai inspired food....The salt & pepper squid and popcorn chicken are perfect with a few beers or some wine. On our first two visits we were within walking distance, the most recent time we Ubered. When planning to leave, we were advised by Toby (the owner) that Ubers were hard to come by in the evenings - he even offered to drop us off if we couldn't get one!More

I came here with my partner as a mini getaway from Melbourne. Toby is the owner with his wife and son, and Toby was so welcoming to us from the moment we walked in the door. Service was impeccable. The wine was delicious and from...local small winemakers also. The food was some of the best we’ve had in a long time. The trout from the starters menu is a must try! We can’t wait to return. Thanks Toby and family.More

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit! Loved the smoked Buxton trout betel leaf, and the steaks were the best we’ve had in a LONG time! Good service, good food, and a comfortable venue to hang out in for the evening.

We had a great night and would definitely come back. A very tightly knit family team - mum, dad and son were running the floor. One of our party works in hospitality and can be a hard marker but only positives coming from them! We...tried a range of starters/entrees - perfect for sharing/grazing. Steak on open grill appeared to be a specialty, two of us accepted the offer and were not disappointed. Finished with a very nice cheese platter. Local wines but not obvious choices (never knew great wine was made in Yea). Service all night was friendly and genuine and makes such a big difference.More

Top class - owner Toby was fantastic and Marley who looked after us was knowledgeable about the menu and got the balance of friendliness and discretion absolutely perfect. Food was to die for ( we did a load of small plates to try because they...all looked interesting on the menu … all were delicious .. rather than standard main courses ) and the accompanying locally produced wine list was perfect - can not recommend it enough - thank you Toby .. We had a wonderful night at Herd. Started off with friendly greetings from Toby the owner who explained that it is a family business. The restaurant is gorgeous and the food was amazing. I had the fish and it was the best fish dish I...have had in a long time. I really highly recommend this restaurant.More

Great place for a casual dinner. We ordered a range of plates from the grazing menu to share between the two of us and they were delicious. The food is locally sourced, as were the ciders that were recommended - we felt like we were...enjoying the goodness of Yarra Valley. Toby, one of the the family of owners, took the time to display genuine interest in our story, offer recommendations, seek feedback and enjoy a chat - this all add to a positive experience. Congratulations to the staff at Herd Bar & Grill.More

Herds was rated as the Number 1 restaurant in Healesville. It certainly lived up to this rating. The service was excellent and the food was fine dinning. The only disappointing aspect of the night was that we had taken the second seating at 800.pm and...requested a break between entrees and main to savor the occasion. Unfortunately this did not happen to which our waitress was most apologetic. It would appear that the kitchen were eager to get home and this governed the delivery of our mains.More

Smart casual is always preferred, however, we do also welcome the scruffy locals calling in after work for a few! and yes we do have an outdoor area, which caters to the smokers.
