Loved the vegetarian degustation. What a taste journey. Unhurried service, attentive and nicely narrated. Will return to experience again.

Some things were fabulous and some things not so good. There’s no doubt it’s a fabulous setting. We had the $90 fixed menu (only choice was either plant based or alternative tasting menu). We both had the 4 course tasting menu. Breads with hummus and...dukkah came out - very tasty and moreish. The next course was mushroom tart - however what came out was half of a small circular mushroom tart (I wish I’d taken a pic) - which is the equivalent of ordering a bowl of chips and then feeling that the chef has taken a handful of chips out of the bowl for themselves. So, not good. Next course was Buxton trout in delicious Chardonnay and mustard sauce - that was very good. Next course was not so good - some pieces of kangaroo, cooked very rare, and served with a rich jus, but everything was hidden under a piece of wilted radicchio. After 2 mouthfuls, the radicchio and roo was quite tasteless and there was nothing new to experience on the plate, as there was no accompanying root vegetable. Odd, just odd. I didn’t persist with finishing it. All service staff were excellent, and I was asked if I would like the plant based alternative for main course, which was a nice gesture, but i declined. Then came dessert of a berry and jelly mix with a sorbet - absolutely exquisite mix of textures and tastes. Our lunch was a special occasion for my partner’s birthday - so they brought out a gorgeous piece of gateau with Happy Birthday beautifully piped on the serving plate. Then came a lovely selection of petit fours. We had a some lovely cocktails and wines and coffee was also very good. Our lunch was very well paced over 2 hours and never felt rushed. Staff were courteous, attentive and professional. However, overall it was a disappointing lunch for a restaurant with such a good reputation.More

Had some very close friends over from NZ, was keen to show case the Yarra Valley and chose here for lunch. Service was quite formal but friendly enough. I had a mushroom entree, kangaroo for main and a chocolate dessert, the last was the highlight....The best wine we had was the 2015 Reserve Pinot Noir. Value was good and would return.More

The chef in this restaurant has a very special idea about the menu. Food is of very good quality, presented in a very nice way, and tastes are fabulous. Be prepared for the fact that they only serve the set menu; no free choice.

My husband and I ate at TarraWarra with Simon, The Private Tour Guide in the Yarra Valley. The menu was creative and innovative as well as the wine options available. We enjoyed the Green Olive Risotto, Turmeric Quinoa with onions, Pistachio Hummus, Macadamia feta tomato...with basil oil. We have traveled throughout the world and compared our meal to the one we had at the Jules Verne at the Eiffel Tower in Paris. Mark Ebbels has created a masterpiece in this restaurant- go now and ENJOY!!!!More

I generally only put a review on TripAdvisor unless it is top notch experience, having dined at many winery restaurants. Well today was a culinary experience to die for plus the service is amazing (thanks Jade). There were six of us, and each had a...different choice, and all six of us could not fault the dishes. Complimented with some of the best Chardonnary and Pinot Noir synonymous with the Yarra Valley. We were celebrating three Sixtieth Birthdays and it made the day special for us. Thank you so much TarraWarra for a wonderful afternoon!More

We had lunch here last week. Service was top notch - helpful, prompt and friendly. Food was superb - it was innovative, delicious and not so much that you roll home afterwards. There was complimentary home made bread (yum) and hummus and other bits and...pieces, as well as mashed potato with miso. I had gin pig - wonderful - and others had the kangaroo which apparently was melt in the mouth delicious. Dessert was blood orange and chocolate which, I must say, was terrific, helped by the fact that it was lactose free, as is everything else on the menu apparently (except the cheese platter!) which you would not have known. The setting here of course looks out over the vineyards and is very uplifting. It cost $70 each for two courses. Very good value, particularly given the quality and the setting.More
