Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Beautiful selection of home made pastries and good coffee. Great service from the husband and wife team, the home grown blueberry Danish was just amazing. Cash only business and good on them.

Great coffee, highly recommend the quiches for a easy breakfast on the go. The vanilla slice here is the best you will ever have. Cash only, but you will not be disappointed by stopping by. Highly recommended

We call here every time we go up the mountain camping or a summer lunch at The General. The best vanilla slice ever and all other pastries etc are ‘bellissimo’! Have also had the sourdough bread on a previous trip, its superb. Today I wanted...vanilla slice (6) which wasn’t ready when we stopped but organised to collect on our way back down after lunch. They even called The General to say they would leave them at the PO for us so we didn’t have to rush back…how nice is that! Remember, they close early though so don’t get there after 2pm.More

Don’t want to sound like a toff but the pastries here are as good as anything I’ve eaten in France. I had vanilla slice to die for and my buddies had tarts. Do yourself a favour.

WOW, WOW, WOW! Lemon curd tart - pastry was absolutely perfect, fine with a crunch to savour. I shared the strawberry tart made with the sweetest locally grown produce. Husband had the vanilla slice filled with luscious creamy custard. AMAZING bakery, tucked up in the...hills. Loved it!More

Called on a wet, windy and cold day for a coffee and morning tea. Excellent pastry choices, great coffee (Six Pence - local roast) and left with sourdough bread. The bread was so good we called again on our way through a couple of days...later to stock. The lady baker is of Swiss heritage and is a great artist - this would be the best sourdough bread I have ever had. Worth the call although it doesn't look much from the outside. Highly recommended,More

Treat yourself to an exceptional chocolate croissant, hand made on-site with high quality batons of semi sweet dark chocolate. Pair it with a terrific coffee. If you’ve got the time, browse the bakery’s unique collection of local Alpine artefacts. Friendly owners with excellent local knowledge....Cash only, and can be quite busy, but definitely worth the wait.More

A wonderful country bakery with great pies, vanilla slices and good coffee! All the items were fresh and of good quality, prices were ok, not the cheapest but really good food.

Perfect coffees with Sixpence coffee from the Roastery in Bright. We've eaten a lot of pies over the years but this chicken carbonara was possibly the best ever - both the pastry and the filing. Worth more than five stars.

The owners are a lovely, friendly couple who open their bakery for breakfast at 8am. Their pies, quiches and pasties are baked on site and their freshness makes it such a treat to have breakfast, sitting outside and enjoying the tranquillity of Harrietville at that...time of the morning. Their coffees are good too and it was noted that tradies on their way to work would stop to pick up a coffee and pie.More

A true blue European bakery in the heart of a Victorian alpine region is a highlight in Harrietville. A daily visit has become a regular sojourn - the range is limited but exceptional. The pastry chef - who is Swiss and spent many years training...- bakes pretzels that are firm on the outside and soft - but a little chewy - on the inside. The vanilla slice, croissants and pain au chocolat and lemon curd tart were also scrumptious. The food is seasonal - so the lemon in the tart is grown on the bakers property and made only when lemons are available. The berry tarts are only made during the regions local berry season. This bakery was a lovely way to start the day!More

Stopped for morning tea on way to Mt Hotham, wait until 10am as the vanilla slice will be ready then, it is a must, could be contender for best in Aust. Pastry is still crisp & great filling. Also pick up a chuncky beef pie,...pastry as only a Swiss Pastry Chef can do! Oh & the coffee is great too. If you are staying in Bright it is worth the drive to Harrietville.More
