We went to the Kookaburra hotel based on other reviews and it did not let us down. Carly was a delight, from the moment we walked in she was on point, friendly, efficient and very helpful. All the staff are really lovely. From the other...recommendations we had the Seafood Barramundi and it was excellent. We tried, on Carly's recommendation, a local Chardonnay and it went with the Barra beautifully. All in all a fabulous dining experience, thank you.More

What a delightful find. Went for dinner our first night in Halls Gap and enjoyed it so much we rebooked for another evening. Would have gone again but their day off is Monday. Menu offers both pub food but also some delicious alternatives. We enjoyed...the Seafood Barramundi fillet (and so it seemed half the pub) as well as the pub porterhouse and duck risotto. Couldn’t have asked for better meals and friendly service.More

Lovely little country pub where we felt welcome from the moment we stepped in. There was a woodfire and a great bar with a fair selection of 'regular' and craft beers as well as a good selection of wines. The menu was typical pub fare...and was well cooked and presented. The staff was friendly and happy to have a yak and, even though there was pretty much a full house of diners, the service was spot on. We only dropped in for a drink but stayed because of what we found inside. I like a good pub, this is one of them.More

We dine here annually and have always enjoyed our dinner. The new owners have brought a fun energy and vibe to the venue. Our waitress welcomed us warmly and all staff were friendly and hospitable. The new menu was interesting and varied and delicious. Well...done Kooka Crew.More

We sat eating our lovely meals, warm and cosy on a rainy evening and couldn’t help but notice how well the staff here went about their business. Not once did they stop for a chat or wait for something to do, they just got in...and did what needed doing and without making us feel as though we had to rush our meal and get out. In many places now you feel as though you’re imposing on a conversation when you ask staff a question, met with almost a snarl but not at the Kookaburra Hotel. Everyone was friendly and cheery in demeanour and all looked to be having fun. The food was lovely, matching each description on the menu perfectly and the desserts were even better. Had a very pleasant evening at the kookaburra. They provide table service which was friendly, the menu has something for everyone. The food was great, full of flavor and a very large meal.

Doesn't look like much from the outside but don't be put off. Inside it has the look and feel of a pub for food, but the food quality is definitely a notch above just "pub". We enjoyed our meals (but watch out for a rather...industrial "sortbet").More

The outside did not grab us when walking past but local intel said v good so we checked it out for a drink after much walking in the Grampions. Very good inside and drinks to be had. Again local intel said high quality dining so...we checked the menu and booked a next night dinner. Thank you to who we now know was the owner for reserving us a great seat when they get so busy. Now the next night dinner - so happy and thank you for the great and friendly service to Carlee (good wine knowledge on top) and Jewels both confident in helping us make best choices. We have been coming to this restaurant nearly every year for about 8 years as part of our annual Halls Gap holiday. We really enjoyed our time here this year with delicious food and welcoming staff. Good luck to all involved and thanks.
