Took friends there, mediocre meal that was over priced and extremely disappointing ended up complaining especially regards the undercooked crumble and we came away not happy and would not bother to return if in Halls Gap again

I requested a soup, not on the menu, but the chef whipped up something “Oh so Nice” just what this weary traveller needed.
Great meal, plentiful homestyle cooking. My Parma included a lovely cauliflower cheese with the veggies. We sat on the verandah, with a commanding view of the Mt William range. Service was friendly and efficient. Definitely recommended.
I was disappointed not to be able to have kangaroo, emu etcc as advertised on their website menu but enjoyed the lamb shanks, the individual littler pavlova and the friendly service.
I thought we would be safe with a steak. I am one of those who like a steak well done but the steak I received was medium at best. It did not taste much like beef either which was a real shame. The chips obviously...out of a packet seemed to be a tad greasy and frazzled at the same time. The veggies were good. I think maybe the chef was on holiday. The service was good but just because your in the country doesn’t mean you can dish up what you like. Won’t be going back. My wife was off the same opinion as I.More
Ok while you won't find things like kangaroo and emu on the menu here and you will quickly realise that you just can't eat the locals. Buddy one of the local roos is friendly and entertaining and clearly very loved by the chef. The chef...was kind enough to allow us to give Buddy treats and was very clear on as innocent as he looks he's still a wild animal. Tanya and Jonny were friendly too. This is a great place to stay at. You're not just checked in here and made welcome but also made feel like family. Nothing was too much trouble for the chef, Tanya or Jonny and we had a lovely stay while here and were well informed of what is in the area and activities. Looking forward to next time. Honestly they could remake Skippy here but you have to witness it to see what I mean. Thanks again for amazing hospitality and EXCELLENT food.More
Fresh ingredients, great taste - highly recommend Michelle's risotto and pasta. The pavlova was presented differently and very delicious.
enjoyed a wonderful meal here with personable staff. Located a little way out of town, that worked for us. The attached motel is also recommended for a clean and comfy stay.
Really nice food. The waitress was brilliant. Understaffed and kept going. Very impressed. Ensure reservations for any restaurant in Halls Gap any night
Well, it was an experience. We realise times are tricky but to hear the waitress continue to say she doesn’t normally do this job, have trouble with table numbers and running around trying to keep things moving along was all a bit much. The meals...were basic, a very basic salad, parmi night, parmi was thin and crunchy. Chips overcooked. Drinks hardly cold. Most meal options weren’t available due to non delivery? On a positive, the views were amazing. But won’t be back.More
After waiting 40 minutes for my breakfast omelette, it was served cold. When I complained, it was returned to me after a quick microwave and with the toast rearranged to cover the area where I had already cut it! Slow service - not good but...it happens Meal served cold - not good but it can be fixed Deliberately lying to a customer - unacceptableMore
Sorry it was not what happened but at least we were opened. unfortunately half if not more in Halls Gap are unable to get staff but we tried to provide a service but are finding some customers not willing to accept our problems we face....More
We were staying at the Grampians Motel so made a logical place to go as other restaurants are about 3.5Km away. Service was good and the meals were good also
thanks
I booked for dinner as a special occasion for my partner’s 66th birthday as we were staying in Halls Gap for a few days. Warning bells went off from the booking phone call. Brad (the Manager I assume) showed absolutely no people skills during the...call and simply said be here between 6 and 6.15 pm, no Thankyou or any other friendly gesture. I should mention that I was a Motel/Caravan Park Manager for 20 odd years so know about customer service skills. When we arrived for dinner, again, Brad showed no people skills, no friendliness, smiles etc., simply told us to pick a table and gave us menus. However the waitress was lovely, friendly and smiling. Within a couple of minutes Brad was back to take our order, we hadn’t even had enough time to look through the menu properly…….he had absolutely no personality at all and bordered on rudeness. When the meals came, both our Eye Fillet steaks were very over cooked, nowhere near the medium rare we’d both ordered. The vegetables were nice though. I don’t like causing a fuss so we ate the meals but did mention to Brad at the end that the steaks were over cooked. ‘oh were they, I’ll tell the chef’ was his only comment…..he couldn’t have cared less. Whilst the food was very disappointing the worst part of the evening for me was definitely the Manager’s entire attitude to his guests. Nearly up there with Basil Fawlty! I would not recommend anyone to go to this venue if this is the type of food and service offered, I was both disappointed and embarrassed as it should have been a lovely night out. Live and learn they say!!More
We stayed in the motel connected to this restaurant so was an easy walk after a few drinks. Service was fantastic, meals came out quickly and delicious. The cob loaf was a nice but not at all what were pictured. I had the spicy prawn...pasta which was delicious however SO Spicy so if you think you can handle spice brace yourself. Partner has the pork which was delicious as well and we needed with a panna cotta which was the best one we’ve ever had. Would like to come back and try what else they have to offer!More
Great service from greeting to end. Food was delectable. I had the lamb rack and my partner had the lamb shanks and my son had mini dim sims and chips from kids menu followed by sticky date pudding and creme brûlée. Nights out are few...and far between these days so when you do get out it’s great to have a wonderful night. Thanks to all the staffMore
