After having lunch across the road we noticed the best vanilla slice in victoria sign…. Signs are easily made… Service was blunt.. For $13 I expected a lot more… it seemed like it had been frozen and and defrosted in the display cabinet that was...just basically a holding cabinet for pre packed slices that cant be seen as they are in a tray with a paper bag… Kinda like a lucky dip… but its not lucky what you get… The first pic of the slice is how it was in the box ..More
Chips were great and plentiful. However, the "fish" as in fish and chips was almost non-existent. As Churchill would have put it, never have I paid so much for so little
With a constant stream of tradies going in and out we were willing to give it a try in spite of the harsh reviews and we are glad we did. I ordered a hamburger with the lot and sat outside while it was prepared. It...was a big hamburger with plenty of flavour and a thick patty that extended past the bun in places. I would be happy to eat here again.More
Old oil, too greasy and to see 2 boxes of fish fillets on the floor next to the refrigerator uncovered is just too much
The worst fish and chips in Victoria. Took 1 hour to make a lunch pack. Then when I started to eat it… It was raw. Strongly not recommend!!!
Don't bother stopping here for fish and chips. Keep driving past and you'll have a great day! On the other hand if you like old tasteless re-heated fish and pre frozen chips ( bright yellow showing their age) by all means place an order!
We went to Flinders today and thought let’s have fish and chips and sit outside. We ordered our food and the man taking the orders was very rude and not someone who should be the front of business. After I ordered I had a look...at the fresh fish on display and did not like what I saw! Not fresh at all it was dry and discoloured. Wish I had done that before I had ordered! The snapper, potato cakes and chips arrived and no surprise it was awful! The chips were bright yellow and coldish, the fish dry and horrible , just such a disappointment being by the water you expect more. People were flocking in there obviously their standards aren’t very high. My recommendation don’t bother!More
As someone else has written, we have travelled from Frankston many times over the past 15 years, and yesterday we bought fish and chips to sit up on the cliff top to eat. The smell of the fish was atrocious and with one mouthful we...realised the fish was off or poisonous. We couldn't even give it to the dog. 3 pieces of expensive fish thrown to the seagulls. So disappointing to see this shop deteriorate so much. We will never return. Wake up Flinders Fish and Chips staff/owners. You are letting everyone down including yourselves.More
I’ve been visiting this shop for over 25 years. I have seen this business change hands at least 3 times. The first two owners were clear professionals that understood the consumer and what they expect of a fish and chip shop. They were proud owners....The 2nd owner invented the vanilla slice but also made great burgers and stocked freshly caught fish and really put the shop on the peninsula map. The current owners have severely reduced the quality of product maybe to build profits but this has had the effect of reducing patronage and so starts the vicious circle of cutting costs to maintain profits. The burgers and souvlakis are the worst offenders - so noticeably worse while the fish and chips are just average. The burger patty is a tasteless puck that is clearly not fresh and sometimes not properly defrosted before it hits the grill! The souvlaki meat is mostly burnt gristle - everything seems to have transgressed to very cheap product. What keeps the shop going is by being the only fish and chip shop for 20kms. I hope the owners eventually realise the opportunity they are missing given they could easily increase patronage (or just revive pre-existing patronage) by providing a much better product even if they charged a little more. They need to get out and see what others are doing with burgers these days and understand the consumer much better. p.s. minor matter but hate being charged for using eftpos. The only place in Flinders which does this. Just factor it into your prices.More
$60 for a family pack…over cooked & soggy chips. Very disappointing. Won’t be returning any time soon
Bought flake and chips. Chips weren’t great and had a strange yellow color. Flake was inedible as it had a strong ammonia taste and smell , which means it’s off. Somethings happened to this shop as it used to be great .
They may have the largest vanilla slice. However they are small on service. Rude and arrogant. I ordered battered flake and also whiting. The result looked it had been boiled in hell!!. Never again! Where is the nearest Greek F and C shop?
Very disappointed! Hamburger with the lot and chips , both in the bin , would not recommend . Must have changed hands , used to be highly rated
Awful food, really over cooked - the chips were brown... and nothing had any flavor. Ordered 3 pieces of flake, medium chips, 2 prawns, 2 scallops, 2 potato cakes, a chiko roll and 2 dim sims. It was over $65 which is just crazy, and...when I got home, I realised they didn't even give us the dim sims. Won't be returning.More
