We visited this cafe on recommendations on TripAdvisor, and were not disappointed. We had booked, which was not a bad idea, as all tables were occupied by 1pm. The building is quite plain, but the interior walls are enlivened by areas of foliage (real?) and...large, well executed murals. The chairs are comfortable, and the table large enough for us two. There are larger tables for groups as well. Service was prompt and friendly — we soon had water and menus (a bit tatty, but who cares). I ordered the all-day Big Breakfast, but my wife did something far more interesting, i.e., select the ingredients for her own lunch from a list of possibilities on the menu. The Big Breakfast was Big: poached eggs, bacon, spinach, mushrooms, tomatoes, chorizo, a hash brown, and two thick slices of sourdough toast, all well cooked and delicious. My wife added to her sourdough toast poached eggs, smoked salmon, smashed avocado, hummus and mushrooms. She had selected slightly more than she could manage, but she enjoyed it a lot. The toilets are both Unisex, and were clean. The mirror was not short-woman friendly, according to my wife. One thing that went a bit awry was the omission of eggs from my wife’s meal, which was rectified in the time it takes to poach and deliver two eggs. Otherwise, the service was as efficient as it was friendly. Along with a pot of tea each, the total bill was just under $60, good value, we thought.More
We visited for the first time on the Australia Day holiday. The greeting was friendly and we were seated and perusing the menus in seconds. We both ordered from the specials menu. I had the pulled pork with rosti and my wife had the smoked...salmon pinwheel (minus cheese). Both dishes were way bigger than our intended lunch; but they were so tasty we just couldn’t stop! Both dishes were less than $20 before the holiday 15% surcharge but who cared?More
Such a shame. The atmosphere in Zest cafe is great, relaxed and inviting with friendly staff. The coffee was really good, one of the best around. Though it was meant to be a large coffee, but came in an ordinary cup, a let down. I...ordered a serve of scones and got one ordinary little scone with enough name but spray cream! Crikey guys! NO! Real cream is a basic requirement, not spray can muck that melts to liquid very quickly. That was a real let down and the main reason I'd not return as it was just not good enough.More
The Puffing Billy mural is a striking centerpiece in the diningroom. We enjoyed excellent coffee and friendly service.
I visited this cafe today and the food not only looked beautiful but it tasted amazing. The coffee was also so good I ordered another one. I will definitely be visiting again.
What a great cafe! Right in main street is this eatery with fab homely food, great service and warm welcome as you come in out of the cold. We had takeaway on the run, but so wish we had time to sit and take in...the surrounds. With huge servings, we had plenty left over for a midnight supper. Highly recommend....More
Have been here a few times in the past few moons and it continues to provide a good quality service and food. The only disappointment with this visit was the avocado mash with toast and egg being a bit on the cool side. I could...have said something but decided not to and ate the meal without grumble. That was the only thing. I would have liked the meal to have been a bit warmer. But it was a great place to have a conversation and coffee was great. Apart from being a bit luke warm the meal itself was good eating.More
I was in Emerald for the Dawn Service in ANZAC day morning and decided that breakfast at a Cafe would be fitting. After speaking to a local friend he recommended Zest cafe noting the good food and great coffee, a suggestion that was definitely spot...on! I decided on the big breakfast (note: this cafe provides table service which is a nice touch that has been lost with the commercialisation of businesses these days) and a chai latte. The food was prepared promptly and came out nice and hot which was great on a cooler April morning. The eggs were cooked and flavoured perfectly, vegetables were all very flavoursome and obviously fresh and the bacon was great! The Chai latte was also nothing short of great, again brought out promptly and nice and hot. Overall Zest cafe earns 5/5 stars but if the scale would let me it’d be more! Highly recommend dropping in if you’re in the area for breakfast, lunch or even just a coffee with morning tea.More
I had the cheese toasty, which was a $9.00, nicely browned white bread, size was on the small side, but the let down was using fake American plastic cheese. Coffee was weak. Nice environment and staff were good.
Visited Zest Cafe today with family. Ordered two Cappuccinos, received one cappuccino and one latte (not what was orded). Both came out and were burnt. Very disappointing.
The new wall murals at Zest are quite stunning, reflecting the cafe's Emerald location........and give a great ambience. Coffee is reliably good and service definitely A++ Always worth a visit !
We picked up lunch to go (me, hubby and 9 yr old son) on a busy Saturday in January. The wait was about 15 minutes but the chicken avo sandwiches were very good and my son devoured the chicken strips and chips. We picked up...muffins the next morning and they were light and airy with great flavors. Highly recommend to anyone going or passing through Emerald.More
