Was lucky enough to enjoy a birthday surprise of lunch onboard the Q Train leaving from Queenscliff to Drysdale. Arrived at the station to be greeted with a glass of bubbles and canape. Time to take some pics on the red carpet before boarding the train. Served immediately with our first course and the journey began. Great service and a delicious 5 course degustation meal, with a well stocked bar made this a really enjoyable lunch. At Drysdale time to walk through the train and see the other carriages including a disco one. Then to hop off and wander the lovely old station. Would highly recommend this to anyone heading to the Bellarine Peninsular during their time in Victoria.

What an incredible experience we had today for a degustation lunch aboard The Q Train (Q Class as I don’t drink alcohol and First Class is paired wines).
Every part of the experience from start to finish was smooth and perfect, everything was organised for us so we could just sit back and relax including a ferry transfer on Port Phillip Ferries (10:40am from Docklands and 4:30pm return from Portarlington) and a transfer tour bus to take us to and from the ferry terminal and the Q Train.
We were welcomed with a drink and a small appetiser on arrival which was a lovely welcome surprise! We were then seated at our table where our first course of deliciousness was already waiting for us. We ate our entree courses while enjoying the beautiful scenery the train was winding through, it was picturesque and lovely!
There was a stop up along the way to get out and stretch our legs and walk around the station and then over the first main the train stopped for a bit over a beautiful scene of the water before pulling into the Queenscliff station. Here there was another opportunity to disembark before heading back again for our second main and dessert.
Our menu today was:
1. The Q Train Autumn Picnic (mini loaf of wattle-seed sourdough, Lardass butter, whey pickled vegetables, local chorizo, Manzanillo Grove olives)
2. Beetroot & Pear (nasturtium, Earl Grey dressing, Otway walnut)
3. Gin Cured Salmon (cucumber, horseradish cream and coastal herbs)
4. The Q Train Pork Belly (slow cooked Barongarook Pork, robuchon of parsnip, roast brussels, sticky five spice and apple glaze) (my absolute favourite dish)
5. Mount Moriac Beef (overnight braised beef, broccoli purée, Anna potato, Bellarine Brewing Co. Mussel stout glaze)
6. Drysdale Goats Yogurt Mousse (strawberry, rhubarb) (a very close runner-up favourite dish)
7. Mushroom Broth & Mineral Water (complimentary on arrival, also a lager or sparkling selection available)
8. Cherry Mocktail (a sweet cherry and strawberry treat) ($10)
9. Lemon Mocktail (a refreshing mix of lemon, agave and soda) ($10)
10. Hot Chocolate ($4)

If you want a fun trip with gourmet food, fine wines and excellent service then please do this trip. Each course is designed to perfection and you would not know you are eating food prepared on the train. The staff are outstanding in their customer service and a big thank you to Liam only his 3rd trip but none the less a consummate professional. Glad they rotate the menu every season as I can't wait to try the winter menu.

We journeyed on the first service after lockdown and travelled on the vintage steam locomotive from Queenscliff to Drysdale.
Arriving at the platform we were offered a complimentary glass of bubbles and an appetizer which was delightful.
We were escorted onto the train and shown our table in the dining carriage. As we were early we had the opportunity to check out the steam engine and capture some happy snaps.
All food was delicious and presented beautifully, using local produce.
There were a couple of stops along the way as we basked in the seaside scenery of the historic Bellarine railway line.
Staff were all friendly/helpful and happy to be back on the tracks.
This Q train journey combines a three hour degustation menu and the romance of travelling on a steam train.
Special thanks for our request to dine in the bar carriage.

Travelled on QTrain on mothers day with 3 friends and we were all very dissapointed with the food.
Every dish was gluten free (easier for the chef we we told)except the big piece of damper.
The small slice of beef and the mouthful of strange cheesecake desert tasted good and everything else was dissapointing and the rubber gnocci with venison mush stew was tasteless & disgusting and we noticed most people in our carriage did not eat it.
We paid $150 per person with 1 glass of wine included and with tiny amounts of food was well over priced.
We have enjoyed other degustation menus at other restaurants and were looking forward to this experience.
The train trip was relaxing.

Nostalgic steam train trip coupled with delicious and interesting degustation menu served by friendly, attentive staff. Such an enjoyable way to see the beautiful Bellarine Peninsula, unhurried with the sun setting on Swan Bay, passing native vegetation, paddocks and small towns with locals waving as the train passed by. Loved it.

Really enjoyed this day. Three hours on a (very) slow train from Drysdale to Queenscliffe and back. Great personal service. On arrival, we were immediately introduced to a young woman who would be one of our main waitpersons for the afternoon. She offered us a complementary drink, then showed us to our seats. Our first course was waiting. Attention to detail was great. One of our group has an aversion to onions. They had dishes without onion prepared for him. All of the staff were great, particularly the two young women who served us most. Great personalities. Helped make the trip fun. The scenery was a bit bland for half the trip, and there was nothing much to see at our Queenscliffe stop. To be fair though, the train would never leave on time if they let us loose in town. Anyway, it was all about the food and the company. Food was very good, and they had a great selection of local wines, ciders, and beers. Five courses over three hours. It was nice to slow down and just enjoy. Highly recommended.

Excellent from go to whoa - Ferry from Docklands to Portarlington then Charter Bus to Drysdale. You board the Q Train where you are met with a smile & glass of bubbles or local beer.
The service & food aboard the Q Train is exemplary - thanks Marie-Claire. The Degustation menu is flavoursome & plentiful & can be paired with a great selection of wine or beer depending on your chosen package.
Thanks for a wonderful time and making our wedding anniversaries so special.

We loved the whole experience of being on the Q Train to celebrate a friend's 60th. We went first class, dining in a private booth. The degustation menu was excellent, with local produce and matching wines; they also catered superbly for our vegan friend. The friendly atmosphere and superb service by Marie-Claire was second to none, all set in such a beautiful location on the Bellarine. Such a relaxing and enjoyable experience, highly recommended!

The entire experience was fabulous. We dined in first class private cabin with 5 delicious courses of beautiful food, together with matching wines/beers/mock tails. The girls catered for our every whim, and made the trip so much fun. Would certainly recommend this beautiful experience to tourists and locals alike….

We booked the First Class Cabin, departing from Docklands by ferry. No complaints about the ferry, bus shuttle or the train trip but unfortunately the food was very disappointing.
Warm rolls tasted straight out of a supermarket packet and not warmed through (still cold on the inside) the butter was smoked and tasted disgusting like a smoker had butted out their cigarette in it 🤢
The next two courses were ok, but not great.
Steak was beef from a crock pot covered in thick fat.
Pork Belly was soft and fatty not firm and melt in your mouth as it should be.
The dessert was inedible. Described as a Pumpkin pie, it was 2 spoons full in a glass of what tasted like maple syrup mousse drowned in cinnamon sugared pecans
Coffee was ordered and never served.
By contrast we went to Masons of Bendigo and enjoyed their degustation menu which was superb!
For close on $500 for the day it was terribly disappointing.
Lift your game!!

Amazing day out on the Q Train given to my hubby & I for a Christmas gift from our Children. Delicious 5 course lunch with matching wines in 1st Class Cabin, what more could anyone want. We had a very enjoyable day (with food allergies catered for) all courses were delicious & made with local ingredients & matched well with the local wines.
The staff were very friendly, we had such a beautiful day thank you so much.
