We enjoyed our first takeway from Merne last Saturday. From the on time delivery from Mandy everything was fantastic. It was just as good as being served in the restaurant. You could not do this at home. And there was plenty - just managed to finish the lovely chocolate cheesecake. It also gave us the chance to get some great wines from our cellar to match the quality of the food - a ten year old riesling and a fifteen year old shiraz. I would recommend anyone to order and make the most of the covid-19 lockdown.

We had a delightful 'post covid' dinner at Merne tonight, our first visit. The set menu was so beautifully planned and balanced and there was some opportunity for choice. This is the type of food I love to go out for - complex combinations, based on local, seasonal produce - congratulations to Caleb at Merne, very impressive and good value for money!

In these times of CoVid our dining experience has been limited to local takeaways, one of these recently being from Merne. Delivery time was as promised and we very much enjoyed an evening meal from a set menu. I particularly enjoyed the smoked trout entree, one of three entree dishes for shared grazing. We were pleased with our choice of mains too - a vegetarian dish and the slow cooked brisket. The dessert of a brownie with mandarin, halva, passion fruit and marshmallow was a nice finish to our meal 😀

A most delightful and delicious lunch with flavours in every dish of the new summer menu that exude flavour and texture ...the chef and kitchen team have an amazing skill of showcasing a range of local ingredients in the fresh, truly tasty and stunning presentation.
Complemented with some local Oakdene bubbles, and a Chianti from the extensive local and imported wine list, we give Merne full marks once again and highly recommend.

We were a group of 10 requiring a variety of dietary needs, including coeliac, to be catered for. Calib was exceptional in his advice & assistance & answered all my emails promptly.
The meal was delicious, plentiful & well paced. Accompanying wines were perfectly matched & showcased the local Bellarine varieties.
I have no hesitation in recommending Merne for lunch or dinner & look forward to returning.

Took our company customer service team out for a well deserved fine dining experience and we were all so impressed with our experience. It surpassed what we expected, especially at the very economical price point for fine dining.
We had the 4 course option and each dish was just fantastic and the dessert was something we all raved about this morning at work - 3 days after.
Staff were so easy to deal with, had excellent local knowledge in regards to the ingredients used and the local wines. Matched the wines really well and we were simply blown away with this "hidden gem".
Definitely booking again soon.

This restaurant was a great surprise during Covid19, with their online home delivery service. Everything was well organised and delivered on time. The food was well presented, tasted delicious and fuss free. There was more than enough food for 2 adults with the 3 course menu. You get to choose your Main dishes which we shared. Highly recommend supporting this local restaurant. Thankyou Caleb and team Merne.

Enjoyed a fabulous (take away) dinner from our favourite local restaurant Merne Restaurant. Olives, Wagyu Bresaola, Ricotta and tomatoes for entree, Beef brisket ad Roast Parsnips for mains and Chocolate Cheesecake for dessert. You don't have to miss out on enjoying first class restaurant food during current restrictions. But looking forward when we can eat-in again. A real treat. Thanks Chef Josh and Host Caleb😀🍽

Merne is where Loam used to be. There is no lighthouse, it's not on the coast. You can see water in the far distance but don't go expecting to be near water !.
The staff are exceptionally professional and friendly. We chose the four course menu at $105 PH. It seemed a lot more that four courses and I thought it was exceptionally good value. The wine list is excellent and not overpriced and although there is not a matched wine offering they are happy to suggest wine pairings and offer half a glass if you like. My favourite dish was the kangaroo ( not something I would normally eat). Presentation was beautiful and every dish delicious. Highly recommended.

Visited for lunch yesterday. Staff were welcoming and attentive. We opted for the ‘two course’ option but this was so much more than two courses. First course consisted of house grown olives and bread and three more dishes. We opted for the trout and slow cooked lamb shoulder as our shared mains, each served with a side. Both were outstanding, so beautifully prepared and presented. We were bursting but had to try the dessert (we shared two between the four of us) of orange and olive oil cake, a beautiful chocolate mousse, biscuit and tangy sorbet. All of this with amazing views of the olive grove and the land and water beyond. We will definitely be back.

Having previously enjoyed our dining at the restaurant, tonight we ordered 'Merne at your doorstep' takeaway, and it was superb! The restaurant quality of each course was fabulous to have at home, the attention to detail in each sophisticated dish something I simply cannot achieve. What a lovely way to spend a Saturday night in lockdown - amazing variety and so much to eat gave dinner a real sense of occasion. Great value for money and prompt delivery, thanks team Merne!

Tonight we had our meal delivered to Barwon Heads. It was first class. Delicious, innovative , interesting food. It was such a treat to have a very special meal delivered in these very strange Covid times we are experiencing. There was plenty of food, and everything was a cut above your normal take away meal. We were very happy to support this local enterprise.
Well done Team Merne, we will certainly spread the word.

We ordered for 3 persons on Sat night with 3 mains that we shared and the other dishes scaled up to suit. It was delivered on time and each course was delicious. Just had to reheat the mains a little and 'plate up' - a great alternative during the Covid era. The food was just as good as our dining in experience at Merne and the ambience well..homely !! thanks Caleb and team

This is our third visit to this wonderful place, and once again the experience was fantastic. Only a few kilometres from the heart of Portarlington, off the Queenscliff road and hidden amongst an olive grove, the setting is low key and relaxed. The staff are pleasant, welcoming and well informed.
Choose from two set degustation options, we had the four courses and as has been the case previously, enjoyed all aspects. Presentation, design and flavours were perfect. The wine menu supports the best of the Bellarine's vineyards as well as an exciting selection of craft beers.
You can expect to pay significantly more for an experience like this in Melbourne. Go for a celebration with friends or just a good value treat.

So pleased to have come across this hidden gem when planning a special birthday lunch. I could not fault anything about the atmosphere,service, cuisine and wine. Staff were very friendly and attentive, the food was so delicious - a wonderful combination of flavours. The grazing/share style was so enjoyable as we got to experience a range of dishes over the course of the afternoon. We were advised that it was the first day of a new menu and we felt that the chef had "hit the mark" with his selections. Definitely a restaurant I am recommending to my friends and one that I would love to enjoy again.
