On a positive note the food was delicious but that's where it ends. For the price you pay you would expect the service to be better. Can go to our local pub for half the price and have better service. I was so looking forward to the night after not attending here for a few years. Was left standing in the tiny entrance on entry with no eye contact had an extra person join us an hour before booking so announced this on arrival (had already called ahead to add another person before this) and was told just pull a chair over and grab a setting from the table near by. It felt like the heater was on we were all hot. My husband was handed his meal by waitress who was holding the plate with a cloth napkin only to burn his fingers in a super hot plate when he took it from her. Some tea light candles and some background music wouldn't have gone astray. So many other food places to go won't be rushing back 🤨

We recently went out for dinner with a group of friends . Was so disappointed with our experience. Beware asking for the still water as it had an awful pipe taste and none of us could drink . We ordered a bottle of sparkling water but as with the beer that our friend ordered we had to ask again and then go to the bar to remind them . When our friends beer arrived it was a stubby which was plonked down in front of him , no glass and no stubby holder . The waiter made us feel that he wanted to close early and approx 9pm on a Friday night he informed us he needed to set our table for tomorrow so could we finish up in about 15 minutes please !! Whilst my meal was ok 1/2 my plate was chips and a separate bowl of salad . My husbands steak was a let down too tasted like a thin cheap cut but was quite expensive . One good positive was that the wine list was good and reasonably priced . We won’t be coming back and we won’t be recommending either so disappointing as the white table cloths and napkins make it look like you are in for a special night .

We've been here a few times. The food is great and it's reasonably priced. Sadly the the last two times the front of house experience has been pretty ordinary. - I booked on line and received a confirmation text. No record of our booking on arrival so I showed them the text. - No napkins on the table. Asked for some and got 3 small paper ones. Was told they had run out of the cloth ones everyone else had. - Ordered a bottle of wine off the list and it was just plonked on the table and not opened or poured. How do you justify a 50% mark up on wine if you're not going to serve it? Next time I'll just BYO the same bottle, open and pour my own, pay the $10 corkage and be $11 in front. - They have a U.S. type payment system with tip prompts on the screen. So instead of being presented with a bill and offering a tip if you choose, you are now presented with a bill and effectively asked for a tip which you have to decline in front of the staff. I was going to tip anyway but felt pressured to do so. - The wait staff were friendly but if I'm not going to get "restaurant service" and then be asked for a tip I might as well drop in at Dan Murphy's for the wine, stay home and order through Menulog. A reluctant 4 stars, 3 just seems a little harsh.

We ate in a group for dinner and were very impressed with the food. There are some very innovative touches to the dishes, and a range of culinary influences from European to Asian to Middle Eastern. You can also get more conventional dishes. There are some excellent vegetarian choices, too. Loved the desserts! Presentation was excellent, and service was very good and friendly. You can BYO for a modest corkage fee, and there is a carefully chosen wine list. The restaurant is spacious, with proper tablecloths and fresh flowers, and parking is easy. They also offer a special lunch deal. Very enjoyable and will return.

Went to Casalinga as one of our favourite restaurants to celebrate our anniversary, expecting a repeat of previous excellent experiences. We were very disappointed. Arriving on time, we eventually found our booking under a horrible misspelling. Seated immediately, it took nearly half an hour for someone to take our order. When our drinks came, one of the cocktails had not been chilled A waiter returned to our table saying they had run out of oysters but could only supply 2 of the ten ordered. We ordered another entree each. Then 6 oysters were delivered, plus our entrees, with one of our entrees showing up again shortly after. The restaurant was operating with three waitstaff for a maximum 28 patrons in these COVID times so should not have been too busy. A 9 o’clock (two hours after arriving) we inquired after our main course and were told they would be out soon. They eventually arrived and were just ok, despite both being from the specials board. Too long in the warmer perhaps. We suspect it was the chef’s night off, being replaced by a pub cook instead. The bruschetta was very ordinary being chewy and lacking freshness. We did get a free drink for the long wait, but that wasn’t the point. $213 of disappointment. Can any one recommend a decent fine dining restaurant in the Eastern suburbs?

We were really looking forward to coming here for dinner, but sadly it just missed the mark. There is quite good parking outside, and we were met warmly. We were in a little corner table for two. We were given menu's but it was a little while until the wait staff came to get our order. It is BYO ($7 corkage a bottle). When the food came, it was certainly generous in its portions, but both the entrees and the mains really lacked flavour. We had the Wagyu patties and duck spring rolls to start and the veal and saffron lingine (it was actually tagliatelli) for mains. It wasn't as though they tasted bad, there just was no zing, or excitment around the dishes. For a Saturday night, the restaurant also lacked atmosphere. We were disappointed, and most likely won't return.

We are very happy with Casalinga. The first contact was speaking to Andy about our options and how to to order for a group of people. Our family of 7 enjoyed the Grazing platter and several entrees to share. Then we all had a main meal. The food was hot and beautifully presented we just had to plate it. There was plenty of food we were all full by the end of the meal. All we had to do was organise the wine and drinks. We will do it again soon.

We have had 3 home delivered meals since May and have to say that Casalinga is now our favourite restaurant. Going there used to be great but their delivery service has been fantastic. The staff are terrific and the food has been really, really good. Delicious. Don't miss the Italian donut desert. Seafood pasta and fish dishes are great. 5 stars from us .

have been going there for over 30 years, 3rd time since November 2021. wait was average 25 minutes between courses, set menu that we weren't told about, lost our docket so had no idea what course we were up to then came out with the wrong course. Main meal was cold, really salty & pastry was very thick, pie filling was dry. Desert - forgot the ice cream & cream, Brule had no crack at all, then they blamed COVID for problems, sorry, COVID had nothing to do with bad service, cold food & forgetting. Our waitress was apologetic but the girl behind the bar just argued, no responsibility.

My partner and I love this restaurant. They, like everyone, are currently trying to adapt to lockdown. Their takeaway is terrifoc and we love their huge range of gluten free options, being coeliacs. Highly recommended.

Service is the worst I have ever experienced. We arrived at 7 pm and after waiting over an hour for Bruschetta we were told they had missed /lost our order. So we waited easily another 45mins for it to arrive. And for the main meal well it arrived at our table after 9.30pm. If you don't have the staff to service the customers don't book so many in. And the restaurant wasn't even full . We won't be returning to this place ever again. Oh and $10. For corkage per bottle of wine is a bit steep. Though they did take this off our bill in lieu of bad service.

I recently had the unfortunate experience of dining at Casalina in Croydon with a party of 12 for a birthday celebration, and it was nothing short of a disaster. The temperature inside the restaurant was absolutely freezing because their split system had broken down. To make matters worse, they had a tiny plug-in heater that also broke down. It's worth noting that the management had known about this issue for a week but were too stingy to hire some decent heaters to ensure their customers' comfort. As if the freezing temperatures weren't bad enough, they had the audacity to charge us $7 a head for bringing our own birthday cake. This was an outrageous fee and added insult to injury on what was supposed to be a joyous occasion. The only saving grace of the night was our poor waiter, who did an excellent job and kept apologizing for the owners' complete disregard for their customers. Despite the challenging conditions, the waiter remained professional and attentive, doing his best to make our experience bearable. I strongly advise against dining at there until they address their heating issues and reconsider their exorbitant cake-cutting fee. The management's lack of concern for their patrons' comfort and satisfaction is evident, and it's a shame that such a dedicated staff member has to bear the brunt of their negligence.

Heat broke down yes couldn't get tech in to fix until following monday, as for Cake fee will not change my staff don't work for free. We offer amazing cakes to be made to order for guests. we tell all customers of cake charge when they let us know. If you just rock up with a cake without communication fee applied.

Very disappointing as this used to be a top restaurant and dining experience for us. We went there for my husbands 60th Birthday and there was 19 of us booked ahead of time. We waited 2 hours for our meals unfortunately and one of our three grandchildren’s order was forgotten. We had the air conditioner on 18 degrees blowing cold air over us and couldn’t be given ant assistance. The poor waiter was so flustered and they seemed to be very understaffed. Fortunately our family and friends were very understanding and we made the most of our family get together. The meals were okay but not of past quality. I had the veal which was nice but only came with like a packet pasta and sauce which was very average. Drink service was terrible. I won’t go back there I think, maybe okay for a couple as some people came after and left before but definitely would not book for a special occasion.

We were so looking forward to trying this restaurant to support local businesses and was especially excited to try the $150 for 2 Ocean Platter as me and my partner adore seafood. Unfortunately when it arrived it was unimpressive to view and got even worse when I tried my first tiger prawn. As soon as I took the head off the smell of old gym socks hit me like a tonne of bricks. My partner checked his and they were the same. The salmon under it was grey and unappetising. Sadly, when we told our nice waiter he said he was only able to take $10 off the $150 platter. This was unconscionable as I was unable to stomach any of the rest of the food after tasting clearly off seafood. This wasn’t the worst part of our experience. After spending over $300 on the rest of the meal, the head chef was called over and after a cursory glance he shrugged his shoulders and said ‘one hundred then’ and walked off. I was told not to worry and I should be thankful he took a minute of his busy time to talk to us. I was so disappointed that our highly anticipated experience of this restaurant left us so disappointed and my partner with a rather sick stomach after only a bite of such bad seafood. My only hope is that the chef takes more care to ensure the freshness of his ingredients so no one else has to endure such a disappointing evening. We are sad to say we won’t be back.

went last year on valentines day, service was poor but food was good, have been there through the year & service & seafood platter was great. Went again for valentines unfortunately service was worse than last year, 9 tables in the room & everyone of them was asking where their meal was. 1 waiter had friends in the room so forget trying to ask him for anything, once desert was eventually served he spent the rest of the time chatting with his mates & getting them drinks, too bad if you wanted another drink or coffee. Felt sorry for other staff who had to take up the slack. looks like its back to Rosebank. fillet was over cooked & broccoli was cold, chicken was average no tomato or spinach? what happened?

The waiter that was the on in small let me us down and want be back. Was not aware of his service until it was to late. He didn't call anything away for next courses and back logged the kitchen all at once. So sorry this is not my standard. Staffing is such an issue in every sector of buisness at the moment.please Come back another time and I will give you 50 percent off.
