At Da Ricardo’s we strive to bring you authentic dishes from around the world along with friendly service, fresh produce all at a reasonable price. We all know how much we love to celebrate with family and friends, so we now offer an upstairs function room available for parties, weddings and almost all types of functions that require a special celebration. Da Ricardo’s is situated in the Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne. It has brought something new and different to the suburb of Croydon South and its surrounding areas and in return our loyal regular customers along with the many new faces coming though have helped make it a huge success. Our aim is to make dining out an affordable experience that brings people together in a happy and comfortable environment. With such a unique atmosphere we have seen firsthand new friendships forged and many memories made. From weddings, birthday celebrations, conferences and so many other types of function, we are delighted to offer a range of options to suit your individual needs. Our upstairs function room can accommodate space for approx. 100-120 guests seated or 100-170 standing. Your guests will enjoy a mouth-watering selection of food and beverages. Ordered here for the first time, fast preparation and delivery, reasonably priced, the garlic bread was small and as a hard as a rock but the penne carbonara was beautiful

Nice family restaurant

Met here with a group of friends, very accommodating staff, good choices on the menu and we were very impressed that all guests at each table were served at the same time. It’s a family run restaurant, waiting staff were all efficient and well informed of the menu and the dishes when asked. Also very good portions served. A bit of a bonus was the purchase of a jar of beautiful pure honey from the family’s bee hives in the hills, processed in the hygienic conditions of the restaurant premises.

Birthday celebrations

We dined last night with family, haven’t been there before but service by staff was very attentive, good range of food choices and the owners were quite lovely, it was nice to have them come to our table personally and ask how everything was and have a bit of a chat when the meals rush was over. Our table all enjoyed their food, I had the salmon with salad, I had to get it cooked a little more only because I like it well done but they were very accommodating and cooked it a bit more for me without any drama which was fantatsic. We will be back very soon and bringing friends.

Worst meal ever

Dined in at this restaurant tonight. The service was below average. The food come out cold, the wine was flat and the coffee was burnt. No one asked how our meal was and the girl who took our payment didn’t even ask how our meal was even though she could see we had left most of our food uneaten. Will never dine here again.

The three of us went to this local, supposedly Italian, restaurant for dinner on a cold Winter night. The place itself is modern and clean, but it was unpleasantly cold and although we asked for the heater to be turned on, it stayed cold for the reminder of our stay. The menu is extensive and dishes are reasonably priced. However, the quality of food left much to be desired. My daughter's spagetti marinara was not cooked properly and boasted a solitary prawn, several small calamari rings and tiny prawns. Almost unedible. Although she left just about all seafood on the plate, no question was asked as to why. She was too timid to complain. My wife's dish was ricotta and spinach cannelloni. The pasta was far too dry to be enjoyed. Only my dish, mussels, was great and is recommended. I was a bit apprehensive about the origin of mussels as I never had such huge ones ( even the famous Portarlington ones are half the size) but I was reassured that they were Australian. The staff were efficient and friendly. The kitchen staff including the Chef were attired in civilian clothes ( no aprons) which somehow did not fit the image of proper and professional workplace. On my departure I was presented with the wrong bill which of course was rectified. I shared my views about the food with a woman in charge who simply said that she would pass my comments to the Chef. The atmoshere of this restaurant deserves Four stars. The food Two stars.

Went to our local tonight, go there once a month. The Garlic bread, which is normally good, was inedible. The waitress said she would take it off the bill. Went to pay, she said she had to check with the boss. Came back and said we had to pay even though we only had 2 bites , NOT OUR LOCAL GO TO ANYMORE

Disappointing

Spaghetti marinara with one prawn, one mussel, a couple of bits of calamari and some little shrimps for$24?? Grumpy unfriendly rude older lady who started clearing our table at 9.10pm telling us they close at 9pm and that it says so on the door! Okay then just be nicer and tell us earlier and serve our coffees so we have time to drink them before you close. You ruined our night

Excellent service and friendly atmosphere. The chef often comes around to talk to each table. There is a wide ranging menu and all the food is tasty.

Very nice place for dinner

Have not been here for a long time. Tried it again on the recommendation of a friend who is local Nice ambience, friendly staff, and importantly very good food . Will be coming back again!

Dinner with style

A wonderfully tasty and warm meal that hits the spot. Well priced too. The atmosphere is comfortable and it’s quiet enough that you can hold a conversation without bothering anyone or being bothered by anyone. The chairs are comfortable and the tables large enough for two or more. Parking is questionable so plan in advance. It’s light, fresh and I fully recommend this place. The huge fish tank is cool, too!

Never Again

Was looking forward to a lovely evening with my husband on Valentine's Day only to be very disappointed. Entree of frozen solid oysters was returned to kitchen to then have the chef tell us that's how they serve them? Frozen! Main meals were not that much better...flounder had a off/metallic taste and dry.Veal was over cooked and salad that came with it was just lettuce and tomato and cucumber...that's it.Will not be returning.

Hi, we've already replied to the many reviews across other platforms with our sincere apologies and explanation about the oysters to which we offered to correct the issue to which your partner refused. At no point did you let us know that you were unhappy with your mains. As we've said before, we understand that things like this would have affected your night but again we were more than happy to try and correct the issues had you given us the chance to.

Went to Da Ricardo’s for a girlfriends birthday, it was a large group around 30 people and we had booked well in advance. The service wasn’t good at all, different tables ordered at different times, so everyone recieved their orders at different times, it got even worse when the manager came out to my friend and accused her of not booking, the way he spoke to my friend was absolutely disgusting, we had proof as she had messaged them through Facebook, he then said he didn’t check Facebook but we had a reply from the restaurant. After this event the bills got put on all our tables so we would leave! I will never return to this restaurant, the wait 45 minute wait for food was just crazy when other people were getting their door fairly quickly! I feel sorry for the wait staff who did a really good job!

Sorry to hear about your experience. We just to clarify a few points. - All tables are served at different times. As the tables were ready to order at different times. Unless a set menu is organised. We make the food when ordered and go in order of their arrival in the kitchen. - We rang and messaged throughout the week to confirm with no reply. For any booking through social media this is a requirement. We didn't accuse them of not booking, we asked about (We spoke to them afterwards) - 95% of the people who attended were really lovely and well behaved. There were a few whose attitude and behaviour was terrible. ( One of those people asked for the bills ) - We did speak to the birthday girl afterwards. We are sorry that we won't see you again.

Great food from a great restraunt

To say that this is a good restaurant, would be an understatement. From the friendly greeting when you first walk in, to the relaxed atmosphere while you are there. Time permitting the owner and staff may join you for a chat, covering all subjects. A great selection of food, from the menu, which caters for all requirements. I have never been dis appointed since finding this fabulous place. If you live in the area, and want a great eat out, you have to look at Da Ricardos.

Would you like some hair with your dinner

Absolutely the worst restaurant we have ever been to. Hair in our main, no apology,still tried to make us pay. The cook is not qualified, the staff all crammed around their cctv saying they were looking for how WE put the hair in our food, Abysmal

We apologize for this experience but honestly we’ve had a couple of issues like this pop us in the past few weeks and after 13 years of having no previous issue like this, we’ve worked with our local council to ensure extra precautionary measures have also been taken. At this point, we would have been stunned as it’s a statistical improbability of having this issue arise again so whilst we do apologize if you felt feeling like there was an accusation. This wasn’t our intention. What is our intention is to find out why this is suddenly an issue. Our chef is 30+ years qualified and it’s because of this that we have taken such extreme measures to prevent this occurring. Just to clarify, we did have to call the police because you were verbally abusing young staff and quite intoxicated. You were asked to pay for you meal because you ordered a whole new meal, you did not get charged for the previous meal and we did attempt to apologize but you were so aggressive that you made staff visibly upset which is not tolerated no matter what the issue might be. Staff are there to serve customers to the best of their ability not be treated in the manner in which you did. We do sincerely apologize for the issues that you had. I would like to ask why you waited over amost two weeks before deciding to write your review. I do sincerely apologize for the issues that you had and we thank you for your feedback.

What a great local find! We had a delicious meal, service was great and the owners took the time to check several times if everything was okay. We had a great night out and will definitely be going back to work our way through their extensive menu!
