This was one of the best Thai meals I have eaten. The dishes are innovative, the ingredients are fresh and the service was amazing. The tea leaf salad was so, so good. I could not fault any element of this dining experience.

I have tried many Thai restaurants over the years and hands down Holy Basil has been the best so far. The flavours are so fresh and the quality of ingredients and presentation were outstanding. Which other venue could and would be willing to devote so much time to each customer, to ensure that each and every person leaves the restaurant feeling valued - and having eaten something truly delicious??? Duncan and his team easily individualised dishes and catered for...gf, df, vegan, nut-free and coconut-free diets within a banquet meal for 12 people. For this team, lack of dairy, gluten, nuts, meat and coconut does not mean lack of flavour or taste! The attention to detail was amazing, right down to the individually labelled doggy bags that the leftovers were sent home in. Nothing was too much for this team who created a special evening for the family. We will return again and again.More

The quality of the food we had was very average compared to other Thai restaurants we visit in the eastern suburbs. Our entree was Oysters Naam Jim and this was probably the best dish we had, but this doesn't say much. The Pad Siew Scallop...was very bland, lacking taste and scallops - there was only 3 in the dish. The Masaman Curry Duck was slightly better in taste, but again the quantity of meat was very small. We asked for the main courses to be served separately - not at the same time - but of course they turned up at the same time. Poor service. On leaving the restaurant, comments to the wait staff about the quality of the food were met with just lack of interest and concern. There are restaurants in this local area that serve far better Thai food and at a cheaper price. We definitely do not recommend this restaurant and would not go back again.More

We have eaten here a number of times and it never fails to impress. Everything we chose was great, beautiful king prawns, crunchy rice balls and corn fritters for entree, sensational crisp barramundi and a chicken and cashew dish for main, everything was great. The...staff were very attentive and not overbearing. We’ll be back for sure.More

Absolutely the best Thai food we’ve ever tasted. Wonderful flavours. A variety of dishes ordered, and they were all fabulous. Atmosphere was friendly and elegant. Would definitely recommend.

Four of us ate here and had a lovely meal. We chose the banquet as it was easier, rather than complicating things with multiple individual choices, and it worked perfectly. The food came out quickly and there was plenty of it, prawns, naan, vegan curry,...rice, chicken dish etc, can’t remember the names of everything, but it was all very good except the calamari dish which was a bit flat, think it was supposed to be salt & pepper style but was lost in myriad of salad. Desserts were nice, ambience and service really good. Note there’s 2 sittings due to covid numbers so you have to be out by a set time, would have been nice to linger but these are the times we live in. In all highly recommended and we will return.More

First time at Holy Basil but it will not be the last. Our wait staff were efficient and lovely, we ordered from an excellent menu and our meal arrived in good time. The fritters were hot, crispy and tasty, the tea leave salad so flavoursome...and the crab dumplings....oh heaven! Our main course arrived one by one which was lovely as it allowed us to absorb each taste sensation. Ginger and scallops....need I say more, they were a match made in heaven, the the best barramundi ever, lastly the calamari. Each dish had its own flavour. The serves are an excellent size and my friends and I left with full but comfortable tummies. Annotate recommend this fabulous restaurant more highly, this was the first visit but will not be the last. Thank you Duncan, you and your staff will see us again.More

My family had dinner at Holy Basil last night. Loved the new menu! I had the cashew curry and it was so delicious! My son is vegetarian and he was impressed with the choices. He had the ginger curry and was not disappointed! My husband...and daughter are gluten intolerant. They chose the barramundi red curry and the Pad Thai. Both dishes were full of flavour and just yum! Also loved the entree choices. The new bao buns are exceptional! Staff are always friendly and respectful. It’s our favourite restaurant, which is lucky because we live about 5 minutes away!More

Best Thai food in the eastern suburbs great new menu offering traditional flavors and seafood choices there is also plenty of vegan and gluten free options, however there are no chicken or meat options

This place is amazing, they had a large amount of gluten free options which is always a winner in my book. I love that they are different to the 'cookie-cutter' thai restaurants around the place in that they only use fish/seafood in their dishes; this...sets them apart and creates a uniqueness. I love the sustainability aspect of this restaurant too and wonder why it is not done in other places. This consideration of their impact on the environment shows in the respect they pay their food and customers. The only disappointment was that they were closed over the Christmas/New Year break as I wanted to come back again! Will definitely recommend to all my Melbourne friends and will visit again next time we are in Melbourne.More
