Oh I do love ribs and these were excellent. Served with nice fat chips and a fresh coleslaw, it was quite the meal and plenty of it. The kids menu was surprisingly varied and saw that the portion size was reasonable.the staff were lovely and extremely helpful as I tried to work out what to order - the choices were plentiful. This place has an lovely atmosphere and from of the posters, they have LIVE acts at various times. Looks like a place I’ll have to revisit and explore again. Notes: wheelchair accessible, kid friendly, good parking out the front, caters for dietaries.

The American Creswick is a great place to grab a meal. Dine in or their take away are both magnificent. Their take away meals taste just as good as if they served you at your own table. We love their chunky chips and ribs are divine. Finding the American in Creswick was one of the best things that come out of Victoria’s lockdowns.

Very delicious and substantial meals, we had the chicken tenderloins with bbq sauce. The chicken was perfectly cooked and very tender with a house made coating. I asked for a substitution of vegies and roast chat potatoes instead of fries and coleslaw. The vegetables were a serve of cauliflower cheese, a serve of green bean ratatouille and two perfectly toasted chat potatoes. My husbands coleslaw was fresh and light with a homemade dressing and perfectly cooked crunchy chips. I could not fault the meal and it was one of the nicest meals I have ever had!

Ambiance – Energetic feel in the place COVID 19 – They seemed to distance tables very well even though they were very busy. They seem to accept walk-in but I suspect they had room outside. Staff – Pleasant but not very attentive. I will put it down to the fact that they were packed on the night we dined. Unfortunately waited nearly an hour for our meal which was disappointing as we had booked our table in advance. If I was advised on arrival the wait time, we would have gone elsewhere. But I was told 20 min after ordering. Meal – Nothing to write home about, it was pub grub. Nice but I would not go again. Too many nicer places in the area. American Southern Fried Chicken – tasty but I wish they did not use “tenderloins” as it felt like a kids meal NY Burger – HUGE and very tasty Value for money but would not go again

We were welcomed on a wet cold night by attentive and friendly staff. Our fish was tasty and hot and the accompanying veggie selection was just what we needed. Sometimes when you’re travelling you want an unfussy homestyle meal and this was perfect.

We had our end of year work party at the American in Creswick. What an awesome time was had by all. We had pre dinner drinks and finger food on the balcony which was great with views and live entertainment. Dinner was in the Lindsay Room which is just beautiful with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Dinner was awesome - I myself had the fish and hubby had a steak. Everyone enjoyed their meals. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the American for all your functions.. Thanks again!

Plan your trip and book ahead - we were very happy to find the American Hotel open on a Wednesday evening and had a delicious dinner with very friendly and happy staff serving us. The restaurant was busy and full of locals. Unlike some of the other hotels in Creswick, this one has maintained all of it's historical charm and it's well worth a visit to return to the 1850's when looking through the bars and restaurant...all facilities are of course 21st Century! We drank a delicious Miles from Nowhere Cab Merlot from Margaret River - which went down really well with streak and a Thai beef salad.

My family and I Visited Creswick. We thought we would try the American Hotel. I was greatly surprised by the warmth of the place and friendly staff. The food was exceptional. We had the peppered calamari salad, the American burger and the pork spare ribs. Great atmosphere

Visited with another couple and ate in their hotel. Went on a Tuesday night. Three of us had the Southern Chicken and one had Buffalo Wings and all four enjoyed the meals. Both the chicken and wings were very tender, all the side veg’s were well cooked and the atmosphere was complementary to the venue. Couldn’t complain at all with the service, food and drink.

Our lunch at the American was a highlight of a weekend in Creswick. Three of us crossed our fingers and ordered the Fried Chicken. Will it be greasy & stodgy or crisp & tasty??? Woo Hoo - beautiful, crisp, moist and tender fried chicken in a perfect mix of herbs and spices, with a creamy (non greasy) coleslaw. This was the "bees knees" of fried chicken. Also, the service we received matched the food we loved.

Poor underwhelming meal unfortunately Lamb shank pot pie Saturday night special Nice presentation and tasty but I’m still hungry! My pie pot was full of gravy not much meat and 6 strings of broccoli as a side. No mash no chips. Entree size meal After a day in the garden was looking for a good feed I’m sorry. Service staff were great Will order something else next time though!

We were visiting the Ballarat region, staying in Creswick, and booked dinner at the American. Wow! We were so impressed! It was a cold, winter night and the hotel was wonderfully warm and inviting! We had made a booking, and were shown to our table by a family member of the owner. She was delightful, as were all the other staff we interacted with. And the food! Oh my goodness! My hamburger was absolutely DE-LICIOUS! It was juicy, tasty, and the best I’ve had in a very long time! And the chips (yes, I’m going to rave about them too) were so good! My husband had the chicken souvlaki. Generous portion, DELICIOUS (his words, not mine) which he said would rival any Greek meal he’d eaten in a restaurant! Service was amazingly quick! I wish we’d been able to fit in dessert because I had my eye on the Apple Crumble, but ‘there was no room left at the Inn’. Will definitely return!

We had dinner one night (vege stack and texan chicken burger) and we couldn't fault it. The place is a beautiful country pub and lots of rooms to eat and drink in. The service is very welcoming and professional at the same time. We thought that the service was fantastic and didn't know till we were leaving that they were 2 staff down due to sickness so they did an extremely amazing effort considering. The menu had great variety and plenty of drinks on offer as well. Really great place, value for money and what you'd expect from a Victorian country pub. Looking forward to going back.

Had our work break up over the weekend with drinks on the Forrest View Balcony and dinner in the Lindsey Room, the deck was spacious with lovely views of the forest behind the pub. Great atmosphere - the staff, food and service were all amazing. Would not hesitate to recommend the American Creswick for others looking to hold a function. We had a great night, thanks again!
