Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It’s a cold bleak day here in Clunes so we decided on the local pub for lunch. This was a fantastic idea, as we both enjoyed the Sunday Roast with all the trimmings. I washed my meal down with a Guinness on tap which was...delicious as well. Customer service is a high priority at The National from the moment we walked in to the moment we left. Definitely recommend this establishment if you’re in the region, but get in early they’re extremely popularMore

Almost a local (15 k away) but on a whim went back to the Nat for lunch today after a long absence. Surprised looking at recent reviews as we have never had a crook feed there so was apprehensive. Food was brilliant !!!! I had...the chicken & pumpkin lasagna, chips & salad. Hubby had the Barra, chips & salad. Small serve of lasagna but was beautiful and creamy and tasty along with nice hot chips and an obviously freshly made salad. 2 nice pieces of crispy battered Barra, chips & same salad and heaps of Tartare sauce. Enough room for 2 of the yummiest Banana fritters we have had for ages. Nice and crisp batter again without the burning hot banana, big scoop of creamy ice cream and maple syrup. Accompanying bottle of Pino Gris made the perfect lunch. Thank you again John & Jenny for great lunch.More

Should have stepped away when I saw The choice of beer on tap. But the waitress I had spoken to on the phone was friendly and helpful. We sat in the beer garden, nothing exciting but pleasant enough in the sun. Unfortunately that’s where it...ended. Our go to orders in a pub when there is nothing jumping out are a burger & a steak sandwich, unfortunately they are often average, and unfortunately for us these were below average. My disappointment with a steak sandwich usually starts when I see white sandwich loaf bread and this was backed up by over cooked & tough meat. To make things worse we’re the fluorescent yellow died frozen chips. Really, if you’re not hand cutting your own, there are plenty of frozen commercial options that are not offensive. Underwhelming burger too unfortunately.More

After hearing great reviews about the Sunday roast I was very disappointed, the meal was served up in a bowl lukewarm vegetables potatoes that were more than likely leftover from the week before certainly not roasted and I got an instant migraine after eating the...lamb that was covered in gravy I am thinking it had MSG in it also my partner's chicken parma was like a half of chicken plonked on the plate with burnt cheese on top and again lukewarm vegetables and chips, we are pensioners and we save our money up so we can go out and support our community and have a lovely meal so disappointing I noticed that the Criterion pub across the road was absolutely booming next time I will be spending my money elsewhereMore

After reading the previous reviews we were looking forward to a good country pub feed. No one in the group enjoyed their meal. The parmi was a processed chicken schnitzel and topped with shredded ham of which my husband only ate half. The chips were...highly processed too and cold, the open souvlaki had no flavour and we couldn’t even cut through bread. Surf and turf was minute steak topped with calamari and a sauce, hardly worth $30. Such a shame for a cute county pub.More

We were able to sit in the beer garden with our two small dogs. Host was very welcoming and had reserved a terrific little table for us down in the corner. Perfect. We both ordered a Parma. It was tender, juicy and came with terrific...chips and a lovely home made salad with about 6 veggies in it. First overnight in Clunes but it won’t be our last.More

We've always enjoyed the casual, friendly atmosphere at the Nash. Now, more than ever, we appreciate John and staff's service to the community. Evenings Thurs, Fri and Sat, yummy meals are available, take-away pick-up or even delivery. Pre-order for a delicious Sunday lunch roast. Very...reasonable prices ($20 for barramundi, chips and salad), no washing up and a boost to their keeping going....Just call, relax and enjoy!More

The menu caters for a variety of tastes. The price range for meals is $20 to $30. I had Baramundi and the wife had a seafood basket and both were good in quantity and taste. The steaks other had were great and the Lamb Shanks...could be eaten with just a fork! No one in our group of 18 were unsatisfied. I'm also told the deserts were great.More

I was drawn in by the menu posted on the wall that mentioned vegetable lasagna. I ordered it and was told it had all been eaten over the weekend. I asked about other vegetarian choices and was told there was lasagna, pizza, and they could...make me a pumpkin salad. So I had a steak sandwich and put off vegetarian eating for another day. The price was reasonable and the quality OK. It came in toast (other pubs use Turkish Bread), with lettuce, tomato, beetroot, cheese, bacon, fried onions, and egg. There was a great tomato chutney on the side with the chips.More
