The building appears heritage, as does most of the street, and this one has been renovated in a manner that is modern yet respectful of its heritage. The glass frontage , white walls and high white painted pressed metal ceilings make for an airy and...light space, complemented by warm wooden furniture.
I really like the nod to the kiwi origins of the owners with Maori words painted on the walls.
The menu is not extensive but has lots of breakfast and lunch favourites. I had eggs Benedict with bacon on a muffin, and it was simply perfect ( I do consider myself an Eggs Benny expert) not least because I also like being able to order breakfast food for lunch.
My father in law had flounder with chips and salad, which included two large pieces of flounder. He is a keen fisherman and declared the fish to be very good indeed, and so generous a serve that he could not eat it all. Not to worry, they offered to package the second piece for him to take home for dinner if he wanted, which he did.
My partner had chicken parmigiana with chips and salad. He enjoyed it, though the chicken was smaller than the giant Parmas served in Melbourne. Given it was lunchtime that’s probably a good thing.
The service was prompt and cheerful, and each of our lunches was between $12-$15 .More
