Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The view even on a wet day was great. We were made to feel welcome with our dog. The food, we both had Pesto, Chili and seafood pasta, did not disappoint.

Fine dining experience, lovely country people, mostly home made, more than delicious, farm meats alao avaliable and fantastic pricing. A fantastic, unique cafe, that is well worth the trip. Set on a Lake, the scenery is incredibly peaceful and calming. The place was buzzing, so word is obviously out! Food was spot on and the service was terrific. Run by super friendly “country like”...people, serving delicious food made with love. Highly recommend, you will not be disappointed.More

Beautiful location overlooking the Lake. Friendly staff. The venue has seen better days. The outside needs some attention in the garden and also clean windows. Local dog just roaming about. Food was good but nothing special. Quick service

A group of four fishermen staying at Lake Purrumbete Cottages in a wonderful 1950s cottage, complete with period fittings (including an old gramaphone and laminex table). The Lake Edge Cafe is the focal point of the business and Lois and her team provide excellent food...and coffee in a beautiful setting. Highly recommend the coffee and flourless orange cake.More

Lake Edge Cafe is such a gorgeous little cafe. The staff are always so friendly and nothing is too much. It has a beautiful tranquil, relaxing and peaceful feel, I could sit there all day. Overlooking Lake Purrumbete makes for a delightful meal, coffee and...cake, or maybe a wine. The food is beautifully presented and is deliciously full of flavour, made with the freshest of local produce. The meals arrive so quickly by such accommodating staff always with a smile. I cannot praise this wonderful cafe enough, it’s always such a treat to go there.More

It’s no wonder many, many reviews here praise the staff at this gorgeous café – they are all amazing! So friendly, patiently telling us about every dish on the blackboard menu, quick with a smile and lots of good humour. It felt like dropping into...the cosy home of dear friends. And the food…oh boy! We saw the South Devon Burgers being delivered to the next table, just as we arrived, and it became a no-brainer for us – two burgers please! The beef is from cattle raised on the property, and so beautifully prepared; it’s the best burger I’ve eaten in a very long time. We loved that the café is licensed and we enjoyed a glass of wine with our lunch – all at very reasonable prices. The view is sublime – there’s definitely no false advertising in the name of this great eatery, it’s right at the edge of a glorious lake. I can’t wait to go back and work my way through the rest of the offerings. And we haven’t even so much as glanced at the cakes and desserts yet! I see many more visits in my future ;-)More

Such a hidden little gem in a beautiful location with views over the lake. Despite being a busy warm Saturday our party received a warm welcome by all staff from Lois at the front to Chris making the wonderful coffee and taking orders. Food was...beautiful, in season & wholesome and made with love you can only find in the country. Note : Make sure you book before going as it does get busy especially on summery days.More

Its tricky to find but what a location in a charming restored old schoolhouse. Plenty of room in or out. A small menu but each dish looked as if you could not go wrong. Our meals were excellent. Worth finding and experiencing.

One of the gems of the western districts. Country cooking, done right with a mix of classics and some international fare. Friendly staff and a superb location by a lake. Just off the main highway, don't miss the chance to drop in for lunch.
