The atmosphere and food is great but customer service is terrible. The waiter and waitresses are arrogant, proud and rude. It’s a pity. There are many other more enjoyable friendly cafes/restaurants in Box Hill than this one.

Zero Mode is a popular restaurant so I was afraid that the food is overrated. However, this is not the case. I had Wagyu Mode and a matcha drink. They were amazing!! I also got the macarons. Expensive for only 6 of them but the...design was cute so I really liked them. Highly recommend!More
Unpleasant environment, expensive and rude staff. Rushed us when coffee was only half drunk, poorly laid out and uninspired design. Meant to part of an art house hotel!! Rubbish.
I went for a brunch with my family I hadn’t seen in a few years. I don’t consider myself a fussy eater but we ordered burger and waffles that had fried chicken in it and the batter was extremely dark and disgustingly oily. Not to...mention that the oil was clearly very old and was the only thing I could taste and smell in my whole meal. Not sure if the chef thinks this standard of food was acceptable but I hope not because I won’t be coming back and it’s not worth the price :(More
We booked ahead ($50 deposit) as it is a very popular restaurant on the ground floor of the Chen Building. Airy and clean lines, great buzz. The atmosphere is pumping and the place is busy but still friendly. The wait staff are efficient and the...food is an amazing array of Asian fusion dishes. We believe we have eaten the best lobster and crab rolls in our lives. The poke bowls is another level up. Really recommend the pork one. Of course, for dessert we had to try the Ferrero Rocher cream cake, with a great coffee. Delish 😋More
Had lunch with a friend recently, ordered the 1+beef burger which came with crispy chips, however the burger fell apart almost immediately due to the large amount of sauce! I also ordered a tropical popping pearl drink which was amazing! The perfect combination of sweet...orange and sourness of lemon with mango popping pearls, it is a must try. My friend ordered the chicken and waffle which was sweet and spicy together, a great flavour combo. I do recommend to book ahead as the cafe is quite small and some waiting might be required. Otherwise an overall pleasant and delicious lunch!More
Had lunch here with a small group in this asian environment. Very friendly staff. This is nothing like your average lunch: all very special dishes, both in presentation and taste. All very nice. This is a must-do, highly recommended!
Flavourful healthful artful food and great coffee. Modern relaxing space. Incredidbly helpful staff. Nothing was too much trouble. Travelling solo and I felt really looked after in Zero Mode.
Simply amazing food. So creative and clean . We have been for breakfast , lunch and dinner . Try the feed me deal. The combinations are so interesting and tasty. We keep coming back to this great find in box hill. You won’t be disappointed.... Friendly and helpful staff alsoMore
Drunken prawn and beer ramen are the best - delicious and unexpected! Great food and great decor and the staff was friendly too. Will come back and try some more
Eating at Zero Mode was the highlight of my stay at The Chen. I had a quick dinner which was innovative menu with some modern takes on popular Asian dishes. I had the Kaarage chicken which was beautifully Caramelised with a fun serving of fairy...floss. I also ordered the veggie salad which was mostly asparagus with some yummy flavours mixed in. A glass of house Shiraz and I was out within 30 minutes all for $30. I returned for breakfast and had fabulous scrambled eggs with sourdough + a side of avocado (with lime). It was a very generous serving which kept me full for much of the day. A great latte and very prompt service. All for $20. Great value, great taste.More
We were a bit underwhelmed when we arrived so dont be deterred by the modest decor. The food was simply amazing, the sushi was some of the best. I recommend this restaurant 100%
