Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A friend and I went out for lunch here on a Saturday. The menu wasn’t very diverse. It seemed like a whole lot of cereal-adjacent meals, smoothie bowls, and avocado toast, so I chose what sounded to be the most exciting and good value for...money - the pancakes. I also ordered the orange juice (referring to the colour, it wasn’t just orange, there was carrot, and other orange ingredients too). The orange juice was okay, it was orange, and it had carrot and what not. Exactly what it said on the tin. However, the blueberry pancakes will doubtlessly be a source of trauma that even a seasoned therapist would dread exploring. They were a war crime against my taste buds, and yes, this may be an exaggeration, but it is only very very slight. The plate looked lovely, a tower of some coconut derived ice cream, a stack of 4 pancakes, a little pot of maple syrup, a lovely arrangement of fruit and some lemon curd spread across the plate. However, looks may be deceiving. I have no idea how they made the pancakes, but from taste alone, it seems like they mixed some (vegan, gluten free) flour with glue, chucked some blueberries in and fried them. The texture was grainy and dry, and yet sticky. I barely managed to eat one, and ultimately just picked the blueberries out and ate them. The coconut ice cream was bizarrely grainy, and offered no respite from the horror that was the pancakes. The lemon curd was more like a bizarrely pulpy, vaguely zesty purée, and yes, it was grainy (that appears to be the word of the day). It’s what would happen if you took a stick blender to the worlds most flavourless lemon skin. Thankfully the maple syrup and fruit were okay! I really enjoyed the fruit! Now, I must make it clear: this review is not born out of a bias against vegan food. I’ve been to vegan cafes and restaurants that have left me walking out the door completely content and considering adopting a vegan diet. This, however, was not one of those places. Tragically enough, this is every “vegan food is flavourless and terrible” stereotype brought to life.More

Cute surrounds, so looked promising after a long drive. We were in town for an appointment so thought we’d stop for a cuppa and quick bite. Disappointed that there was no traditional tea to be had. Plenty of herbal options and coffee, but some of...us still enjoy a traditional brew. Then when I’d settled on Chai, was told there was no honey available to sweeten - only maple syrup. Yes, it was a Saturday afternoon, but after 40 minutes our simple food request still hadn’t arrived, and was told it would be another 10 at least. It’s great to be funky and have a cafe full of healthy, shiny people, but please don’t forget the basics!More

My partner, 1 year old and I are regulars here. The food is amazing AND healthy (even their mouth watering treats). Staff is always super friendly. Only downside I can think of is that during peak times it can be a bit squishy as it’s...a small place - they do however have a good outdoor area.More

Mr Black is a long time favourite for our family. They have a new menu - I tried blueberry buckwheat pancakes with lemon curd and coco whip and they did not disappoint. Paired with ginger snap latte, so good hands down my favourite beverage on...menu!! Cafe is small inside and can get very noisy and cramped when busy. Knowing this we try and go outside busy times or grab takeaway- bonus all of the menu can be made as takeaway. There is a new seating area outside but I’m yet to see it in action as it was built over winter and wasn’t being used the day we visited.More

Trendy food with great service. Mr black have loads of raw and vegan options with plant based menu items. It’s a small cafe so seating can be limited.

My 3 year old grandson loves Mr Black’s. He has an extremely healthy diet and the food here fits the bill. The Avocado Toast is absolutely delicious. Prices are a little on the high side for us but the food is well worth it and...we usually share a plate. Everything is very fresh and tasty. My grandson LOVES the cocowhip with fresh berries and it’s great to know he can enjoy a healthy treat.More

My family decided to have a brunch in “Mr Black “. Nice place. Very professional and friendly service. Juices are incredibly delicious. For me it was surprising how many dishes could be made without meat. I even didn’t believe at beginning that I will not...go to have a hamburger after it, but I was full. However to be honest it is not my type of food.More

This was my first visit. The positives were the friendly service and the generous portion sizes, but I’m afraid half of my meal went back to the kitchen. While there were several ingredients in the dish, the pumpkin dominated everything. I like pumpkin, but not...a stacked plate of it. I found the meal bland and monotonous. Afraid this venue won’t be added to my favourite local meeting places to catch up with the girls for lunch.More
