Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Don’t eat the Burgers, I paid $16 for a lot burger, worse burger I’ve eaten actually I can’t even say that as I had two bites and then ripped it apart hoping there was something between the buns I could eat… but no! When someone...pays that much for a burger I would hope to get a mince home made Pattie maybe even something that even resembles a mince pattie.. but shockingly it had a Pattie that barely even rated as a piece of meat absolutely disgusting! If we hadn’t ordered and left to go on our travels again I would have walked back into the shop and made the cook eat it. My partner got some fish n chips it was nice enough but extremely oily like it hasn’t even been drained. Next time I’m in Beechworth it will be a Hard pass what a rip off place with horrible food.More

I was rather excited to try this 'fish bar' ... it has great reviews and WHAT a name! With it's illustrious name, I was expecting this to be something special. But ... it's a bit less than average when you walk in. Instead of capitalising...on it's small space with colour... it's all a bit beige. Nevertheless, it isn't known for ambience and it's mostly just a takeaway store. I ordered my burger and drink... service was okay. Value was interesting , I will attach a copy of the menu and let you make up your own mind. When I got back to the motel, I was hoping to enjoy my meal and settle in for the night. The burger was not good... I took a few bites and realised that it was not going to get better. I threw the burger in the bin, went to my car to find something I picked up from the Sweet Company earlier and had the unhealthiest dinner. I ate chocolate and drank what I had purchased from this store.More

It is what it is, nice fish and chips, tasted and not too oily. Friendly service although it did take a little bit more of a wait then we were expecting. Great value for money.

This was amazing, talk about a hidden gem! The potato cakes were fabulous and simply intended for our road trip home, but the mushrooms and spicy cauliflower certainly lifted this fish and chip shop above the rest! Highly recommended. (And even better, it was tastier...than some of the neighboring restaurant’s fare…)More

As I ventured down the well trodden streets of Beechworth, I had a hankering for some cholesterol raising delights.. My thirst so to speak, was well quenched with the delights on offer at "The aging frog fish and chip bar"... Myself and associates, ordered a...variety of items on offer.. The sardines, wow wee.. crispy, fresh and flavoursome..i had hallucinations of my time in a small village in the south of Italy, as a young boy..often taunted by my siblings and the community at large, but the sardines today, reminded me of my kind grandmothers cooking... Octopus tentacles.. a surprise to have on offer.. obviously beaten on a nearby rock for hours, to get tender, by dedicated staff..a practice I swear, was executed within ear shot of the store. A practice perfected on a fishing boat in the Mediterranean I presume, in a nearby cove.. crisp and tender.. Dim Sims..if you butcher these, a lashing is due at the local jail.. a new attraction is in the works there.. but not here. Unfortunately, marathon branded, but ok . Well cooked and crisp. Now, the piece Ter resistance (along those lines) the potato cakes. For the northerners, scallops. Thick slices of potato, tenderly poached in salt water with thyme and garlic, then gently and lovingly placed into fresh oil with a thin batter, at the approximate temperature, that could possibly dissolve a body if given the chance. The result, magnificent!!!! Thyme, potato and garlic flavours are present... Portions are generous.. The girl serving was pleasent and polite.. oil was present on my fingers, but no overly problematic.. To the ney Sayers, the price is right, the quality is good and the offerings are varied.. A welcome and appreciated addition to Beechworth..well done and I shall return..More

From the service to the food, it was a huge disappointment. The only redemption was the cauliflower bites which are a usual stand out. The burgers fell flat, to the point they were inedible, the nuggets tasted ‘funny’ and the potato cakes were served with...an unhealthy amount of grease on the side. After eating here many times, this was unfortunately the last time.More

A busy shop so a long wait for your food, but it’s worth it (wander up the street for a wine or a beer while you’re waiting). Chips are so tasty, I had the standard burger and it was great value at $10.
