If you are into something different that moves as far away from processed food, commercialised goods, pretentious atmosphere - you have to experience Moments and Memories! Everything is fresh and handcrafted. Owner Lyn goes above and beyond to accommodate. Have been there many times and it never disappoints. I'm sorry to read a few people don't appreciate what is on offer. I'm guessing they are the ones who enjoy pretend quick service (because it does not take long to heat frozen food; but a heck of a lot of time to make things fresh from scratch). And I'm guessing they're the ones who like pretentious service that goes along with it ...

Gorgeous tea house, most delicious food all made on site, generous servings with service that you don’t experience elsewhere, personalised and effort full. Food and drinks were extremely fresh, the softest scones and just as beautiful to look at. Be sure to book a table if possible so as not to be disappointed! This place is truly something to be admired for its attention to detail and freshness- I feel the prices are generous given the quality compared to other high /afternoon tea venues. A MUST visit.

My sister, daughters and grand daughter have just shared a wonderful afternoon “high tea” experience in Beechworth this afternoon. The food was delicious, all home made, so tasty and fresh, from the delicious spicy pumpkin dip while we sipped on a summer fruits iced tea through to the decadent dessert selection, with so many tea choices. From x8 savoury and x9 sweet to sample we waddled out of the shop, that is after we bought a few home made jams and chutneys to take home. The staff were helpful and happy to answer questions, the “cluttered” interesting china display adds ambience to the experience, with the table set beautifully in shades of pink. Unfortunately they will now be closed for the 6 weeks of COVID restrictions but we look forward to returning when they reopen Thank you

My daughter and l enjoyed the most delicious Devonshire tea today. Large warm Scones with jam and cream. The English breakfast tea was perfect. The cups and saucers and teapots are beautiful and old fashioned and just what u want to drink a good cup of tea out off. The ladies were all so lovely and friendly and really couldn’t do enough to make sure are time there was just perfect. Highly recommend coming here for Devonshire tea. They high tea looks very yummy and they serve other delights as well for breakfast and lunch.

We were 'welcomed' with a brusk warning about not just walking in and sitting down without sanitising our hands, which we weren't about to do. The waitress relaxed a little as she found us a table but then made some comments about how the virus is all China's fault. Really inappropriate. The scones which were advertised on a sign outside as "Victoria's best scones" were microwaved, as was my quiche. The chai teas were very weak and my friend thought 'powdery' which was also disappointing for a place that prides itself on its tea. My side salad included carrots, lettuce, kiwi fruit and mandarin and was just odd. The decor was ridiculously cluttered. We found it all quite amusing but will not go back.

Thank you for your review. I am sorry that you had what you thought was a less than plesant time in our tea room. I am very surprised by your review. As the owner I am shocked and disappointed. In these trying times of Covid-19 the Government has in place some very strick requirements in place. I am sorry that you thought that you were being singled out for some reason. We are trying a very bust to stay within the guide lines set down for us. This is to protect everyone who enters out tea room. (Not just you). We are not about to get a fine of $10000.00 as this would cost us our business. I am also sorry that you took offence to a off handed comment about where the Covid came from. (but facts are facts and it did come from China). Yes the scones were rehead in the micowave. They were made fresh in the morning. (it is impossible to make fresh scones per person as required during the day. Scones take 15 minutes to cook!) In the 9 years we have been operating we have NEVER once had a complaint about how we do our scones. Yes we do also rehead our impossible quiche (No pastry) in the micowave. (you will find that most places use a micowave to reheat food - even the best restrauants) The chai tea that you said was powdery is in fact made with loose leaf tea. (We do not have powder chai - We only make fresh chai tea). Had you spoken up and advised us there was something wrong with the tea, it would been replaced straight away.(in fact I am sure that you were told at the time the tea delivered it to your table that we would be happy to replace the chai as we had already noted it may have been a little weak) Yes we do make our salads with fruit in them. Once again we have NEVER had a complaint about having fuit in our salads. The decor may not appeal to you. (Most people love the decor - Just like stepting back into grandmother house is comment we get all the time) As the owner I am shock that you did not come to myself and advise me that you were unhappy with the service or the food. Had you done so we would have sorted it out straight away. Please remember that in the future if you have an issue with a business and their food or service at least give the owner/manger the chance to sort it for you at the time. We are unable to do so after the fact. To everyone who may read this reply. We are just trying to keep everyone safe and staying within the guide lines. Yes it does slow things down a lot for us, that in turn puts a huge strain on everyone. So yes you do have to wait to be seated. Yes we may have to clean tables first. Yes it may take longer for your food to come from the kitchen. We ask that you been understanding in these trying times. If you do find something wrong with the food or service please advise us in person at the time. We are only human!! We do try our very best to please everyone all the time. We understand that sometimes we fall short of the mark

From the ah-may-zing devonshire teas (with the freshest and fluffiest scones), to the delightful two course winter roast and dessert lunch, Lyn and the team never fail to deliver! The most challenging part of a meal is deciding on the tea! Service is always polite and prompt, servings are generous and flavoursome and the atmosphere of the Tea Room is utterly divine, with the old world music softly playing, the coordinated furnishings and decorative tea sets, as well as the china crockery. I have visited many times over the years and deliberately detour to Beechworth to simply indulge here. I have introduced family and friends to this place, several whom continue to visit and have shared this venue with their loved ones. Thanks again Lyn, we'll be seeing you again soon!

Chose this place for breakfast as it was close to our hotel, what a little gem! We ordered the pancakes with bacon & eggs and they were home made and delicious, loved the freshly brewed tea and particularly loved looking at all the different teapots that were around the venue as we waited for our breakfast. The host was a delightful lady who was happy to have a chat around her serving. Thank you for a wonderful experience :-)

Such a lovely place, wonderfully set up with a great range of teas. The food was quite nice, but the reason we won’t be back is because the owner is a very gruff lady who really made you feel like everything you asked for was an inconvenience to her, the other staff were absolutely lovely, but honestly she just turned us off ever going there again.. horrible & no politeness should not be serving customers. I can see by other reviews that are not complimentary to her, result in her giving you a tongue lashing so I’m waiting for it. You are getting a reputation around Beechworth and word of mouth is everything!

Thank you for your review. I have to agree with you that we have a wonderful tea room which has taken many years of hard work and love, by myself and everyone concerned, to make it what it is today. This business is more than just an income to me. I am sorry that you took me as being gruff, that is never my intention when serving all our lovely customers. Maybe you took my being busy as being gruff. However I am not using that as an excuse. I have always prided myself supplying good service to everyone. Looks like in your opinion that I have dropped the ball this time. I am terribly sorry this has happened to you. I will endeavour to watch how I come across in the future. I am sorry to say that I can’t remember your group. Yes your 100% correct that word of mouth is everything and fortunately we receive far more good recommendations than bad ones. In 40 years of working in the hospitality industry I have only ever dropped the ball a few times. I have always run my business with the approach that the customers always come first and that they are always right. Thank you for reminding me of that. The past year of Covid has changed so many things in the way we have to run our business. It has put a huge strain on all businesses. I know I am always concerned about how we are keeping people safe and doing what is required to do so. The added worry maybe effecting how I come across. If this is the case I am sorry. I am not using this as an excuse, just offering a reason. Thank you for your understanding.

My partner and I went to The place and found it there be one of the most enjoyable experiences I’ve been to. The placesas it was set out with There hundreds of tea themed items and it was beautifully presented. The breakfast was top class with very large portions all the ingredients were freshly made and deliciously enjoyed. Great value for money and freshly brewed coffee and a vast assortment of potted teas made for a great experience. The owner Lyn and her staff j were so lovely and obliging with amazing customer service and very friendly. Nothing was too much trouble and I would highly recommend a visit. Top marks to the place.

I was visiting my friend in Wangaratta and was keen for a quintessential Victorian country experience. Moments and Memories Tea Tooms delivered this in spades! What a delightful place. As soon as you walk in you're immersed in an interior like a traditional English tea room - beautiful cups and saucers laid on clothes tables and very warm and welcoming staff. We enjoyed a delicious lunch of corn fritters with a huge, fresh salad, garlic bread on the side and dessert was the biggest piece of sponge cake with cream and jam I've ever had - perfectly baked. Tea was served in old style tea pots complete with strainer, milk and sugar on the side. The team rooms are large so there's plenty of room and they sell a lot of tea related merchandise. All in all a wonderful experience. Highly recommend!

Delicious gluten free lunch and teas are out of this world. Wonderful caring service, comfortable surrounds and really great food. We had the prawn and avocado toastie, and the gluten free pikelets with home made jam and cream. Lip smacking.

Mother's Day High Tea. Hardworking staff but overwhelmed on the occasion. Understaffed. Long delays. Guests with bookings for set times (like us) were being turned away at the door and told to return later (the baker was apparently late in delivering his contribution to the day). This was a special occasion from myself and my wife, visitors from interstate). We ended up eating the High Tea on our laps due to the tiny table we had been allocated, which put a bit of a damper on the occasion. To her credit, the manager acknowledged the situation and only charged us for one person. I was prepared to put it all behind me until I read the website reviews which revealed that this has all happened before. The staff shortage is chronic, as are the delays. The reviews also mention one member as being in a "permanent huff". She is still there, and still in a huff.

Thank you for taking the time to review our tea room. We are sorry that your visit to our tea room was not what you expected. On the day yes we had some issues, you were advised of this at the time and the reasons for the delay. Yes we are very short staffed and there is no way around this. Beechworh doesn't have a lot of rental properties available which equals no new workers coming to town. Yes we have used this excuse of not having staff before, because it is the truth! This is the suituation all over the country at the moment and has been since Covid. So using a previous bad review against us is in very poor taste in my opinion. You were also given the food at half price. I even offered you both high tea for free. Seems like no matter what I tried to do to correct your issues was never going to be good enough for you! As for your having to eat on your lap - I am not sure why you thought this was the case. All you had to do was move your chair a little closer to the larger of the 2 table which was set with china for the perpose of eating your high tea on. Yes there was limited space. Had you been really concerned about this you could of asked to be moved. We would have done this even though we were very busy. We go out of our way to make our customers feel more comfortable.

My husband and I went early in the day as we knew it would be busy, given the time of year and we didn’t have a booking. The staff were friendly and wonderful! Their communication and organisation with other people without a booking was fantastic! The scones were exactly like my nana makes. Delicious! Also the cinnamon toast is a must have! My husband had the pikelets with lemon curd and they were lovely and crunchy on the outside and soft and fluffy in the middle! I’m SO glad we came here today, it was an absolutely fantastic experience.

What a delight. The tea room is beautifully appointed with an old world ambience. Lyn the owner is very welcoming and friendly and the service is fantastic. It was lovely to look around the shop and buy a unique gift or selection of teas - I bought tea towels for presents. Hubby had bacon and eggs and I indulged in the scones. They were so delicious we had three different types. Although we stopped here coming back from holidays at Dinner Plains heading to Sydney, we will go to Beechworth for a holiday and have a high tea. Truly sublime. Treat yourself and stop here - it’s truly magical.
