COFFEE STAINES is located in the heart of historic Beechworth, surrounded by some of the most beautiful food & wine. You will find us in the main street of Beechworth offering a Café specialising in all day breakfast and delicious café and take away food. In store we strive to provide a dining experience that is inclusive to everyone's different dietary requirements. We pride ourselves on catering for all dietary intolerances, allergies, celiac, vegetarian, vegan, low fodmap etc. We also provide event catering, drawing on our experience of delicious café and carvery cooking for the past two years and having the ability to service NE Victoria with our brand new, off grid, catering trailer. Is there anything more relaxing than sitting outside a cafe on the beautiful Beechworth streetscape, amongst so many heritage-listed buildings?
We had a nice ‘cuppa stop’ at Staines.
The medley of sandwiches was a highlight.
The banana muffin was, however, a disappointment, even when lightly heated. The staff had clearly passed on our feedback because one of the senior staff later came to our outside table with a cash refund in hand. She apologised that the muffin must have dried out in the refrigerated display, adding that she was ‘devastated’ upset because she takes pride in her home baked muffins. How nice to see such pride taken in food quality and service!
We were so impressed by the rest of the meal and by the service, that we came back later for takeaway sandwiches.

so impressed with the dietary options! we normally have a hard time because one of us is gluten free and one is vegan, but this is one of the best cafe’s i’ve been to in terms of being able to provide for both. large, customisable menu and the food is so good!

An early breakfast in Beechworth at Coffee Staines - welcoming us when another venue showed no interest in servicing us. Turned out for the best for us though - friendly service, great coffee and food. A thoroughly enjoyable experience.

Tinned soup served mildly warm and when asked to reheat lectured by the girl who said it was hot enough but pumpkin soup had not been reheated. Considering it was a cool day we were really looking forward to it but was very disappointed. Also asked for Gluten free toast which came out slightly warm and not toasted. Message to cafe gluten free bread needs more time in the toaster so it can be served toasted.

This is a tourist trap. $7 for a cup of tea!
We also had granola and avocado toast which was ok but for the money we expected something a bit more elaborate.
The tables outside are in the shade in the morning so sadly for them it's cold and not so pleasant. The staff was friendly but next time we would go elsewhere

Sorry you didn't enjoy your experience with us. The $7 for tea would have been for a pot of tea with hot water and milk on the side and is equivalent to two cups of tea which is great value.
In regards to the meal, sorry it wasn't to your expectations but we have countless compliments in regards to our meals but we accept the fact we can not please everyone.
Our tables outside are in the shade in the morning but I am sure you can appreciate we cannot avoid this but we do have overhead heating and provide blankets for each table incase customers are cold.
We hope you visit our beautiful town in the future.

Very disappointed in brekky - hollandaise was actually sweet - no sour/acidity and the scrambled eggs dry. Was up here 12 months ago and had a lovely roast beef roll for lunch so thought we’d try brekky. Staff are great but brekky was so sad. I actually felt I’ll half way through eating 🥲

We stopped in for brekky on a weekday and grabbed the last available table. Ordering was quick but service was a bit slow. There were 3-4 staff … behind the counter and serving and cooking … and everyone seemed to be doing a bit of everything. I’m no expert on hospitality, but perhaps having each person focus on one particular task (barista vs cook vs cashier vs table service) would have been a bit more efficient.
Food was good … we ordered bacon & eggs, and muesli and yogurt. The yogurt was thick, and plenty of it, but a side of milk would have helped cut through the dry muesli crunch. Coffee = yum.

Most foodie places closed on this Monday evening, stumbled across this cafe. What a gem. Had the small roast dinner. Was delicious. $14- was as much as I could eat. Excellent value for money.

We needed something like this amazing cafe/carvery here in Beechworth for a long while.
When Coffee Staines opened up, we were eager to try their fare.
Well, it never disappoints.
The food is amazing every single time.
From the roasts to the burgers to the egg/bacon roll, it's all scrumptious.
And the chips are to die for.
Cannot recommend this place enough, and we often recommend to our own guests.
Even better, they DELIVER!!!

If you are looking for a top notch coffee then Coffee Staines is for you. The staff are fantastic and they had a wide variety of breakfast and lunch options. Our four legged family member also enjoyed a pupachino 🐾☕️☕️

Thanks to Jamie for specially cooking us delicious takeaway fish and chips when he was just closing. He saw us turned away from closing cafe next door and offered to help us. He went above and beyond! Such generosity. Such tasty dinner. He saved us from starving tonight. Will be back.

Indulging in the build-your-own breakfast at this cafe was a delightful experience! With a number of ingredients to choose from, I crafted my perfect morning meal. The quality of what arrived was superb, and the staff were accommodating and friendly throughout. Add that to their divine coffee. It was the perfect start to my day. Thanks team

Lunch, was a joke. I asked for an egg and lettuce sandwich a a cup of tea. Out came a warm fried egg on lettuce in a sandwich! I’ve never had such a dreadful sandwich. The cup of tea had a teabag hanging out of it and was so strong, surely the teabag could have been on the saucer for myself to dip it according to how strong or weak I like my tea. Never again!

Second visit after a year away, glad to see it’s still going. Great food as usual, lovely gravy and roast vegetables.
We both had lamb which was a bit tough but I think that’s a reflection on the meat industry in general.
Looking forward to next visit.
