Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Wow, a must do for the bucket list. Amazing food, fantastic hospitality, accommodation was perfect. I couldn’t fault the restaurant, staff were amazing, very attentive and most importantly friendly. Thankyou for an amazing weekend away.

The 18 course dinner and wine pairing was delicious, interesting and amazing. The restaurant is gorgeous, staff engaging. We learned they have an exquisite craft cocktail lounge upstairs. They also offer accommodation and we chose to stay out 2nd night. Everything beautiful and perfect.

This place is charming with a great wine and alcohol selection. The menu is Japanese inspired using local ingredients, 15 small plates are presented over the course of your meal, the only disappointment was the lamb rib, which was tough, the staff were knowledgeable and...professional, the venue is charming and well presented. Whilst the price may seem a little over the top it is well worth it.More

In a word Sensational….! As with all the other reviews that highly rate this restaurant I don’t have anything more to add, my wife and I loved the experience and we don’t do fine dinning often but this was brilliant. Highly recommend….Enjoy.

I had degustation menu with matching wine. Wife without wine accompaniment and chose couple of glasses of a house red. No problem with tweaking degustation menu to meet wife’s requirements of gluten free and pescatarian. We gave notice of dietary requirements when booking. A highly...professional offering from beginning to end. Staff demonstrated an excellent knowledge of food and wines and took reasonable time to explain what was on your plate. I appreciated fact that copy of printed menu was on table so we could do some reference checking. Variety was amazing. Stand outs for us were the cured trout, mushroom tofu, kingfish sashimi, poached chicken and Milawa duck. But all excellent. At age of 70 I tend to avoid degustation offers but with small serves and such variety on offer hard to pass up. If you are a younger more enthusiastic eater you will not leave the table wanting. Only thing I could have done without was the opening offer of a small share bowl of marinated soya beans. I don’t think it added anything to the offer. Well done. Would recommend. Reasonable value give the quality scope and quantity of the offering.More

This place impresses from the first moment you approach their historic building. Everything about the experience is tasteful and sensitive. The menu is fixed, but dietary requirements are catered for (ie FODMAP). One of our party advised ahead, and was sensitively accommodated. The cuisine is...high end Japanese, and everything is beautifully presented. The wines are well curated and cover all angles, without pretension. We had the wine pairings, and were well satisfied. We started with a bottle of bubbles first, before the pairings. It was a thoroughly enjoyable evening, with exquisite service from Amy, who made the evening both fun and educational. If you like fine dining, then Beechworth has the place to tempt you, and satisfy you, and at the same time stretch your experience. Don’t miss it.More

Degustation is not everyone's cup of tea but at provenance they get it right. From the first course of tiny soya beans in a delicious coating to almond nougat at the end every morsel is delicious and nothing is pretentious. The style is japanese bonito...box with beautiful ceramic bowls where you can mix and match. I loved it.Thank you.More

Can’t find words to describe how great this place is. The room was perfect and the restaurant was top shelf too. And it has the biggest spa bath I’ve ever experienced. Thanks to the staff for a wonderfully unforgettable experience.

My wife and I dined here for our anniversary. We had been to this restaurant nearly 20 years ago when it was The Bank and a lot has changed since then. The meal is a fixed tasting menu with a variety of Japanese-inspired dishes using...local ingredients. As usual with a tasting menu, many of the dishes were things I would never consider ordering a la carte, but those items often turned out to be the highlights. I generally avoid mushrooms and tofu but the mushroom tofu dish was fantastic! Every course included flavours that were new to me and every course was presented beautifully on a wooden tray, with elegant little bowls. Each dish is quite small, but after 18 of them (and 4 glasses of wine) we were stuffed - and quite glad that we were staying at their attached accommodation.More

The menu we had on our night was great but can be better. Every item tasted delicious but it was perhaps too chef oriented. To me, its about show casing the chef’s techniques and knowledge of flavours without giving too much consideration on what the...individual experience might be at the end of the evening. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening as we have travelled a fair bit before COVID and we appreciate how the chef was giving everything to put together what he thinks is the best. Based on some of the previous reviews however, it may be translated into arrogance instead, which is a shame. If you have been to Japan and enjoy your experience or if you haven’t but want to have a taste on what it may be like, this is the right place to be.More

Overrated Japanese fusion. Definitely not worth the time or effort. So disappointing that on every serving/course, there was a dish that was inedible. Avoid.
