Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Nice pub, staff were lovely, I had the chicken schnitzel with chips and salad, probably the smallest schnitzel at a pub I have ever had and at $27 the most expensive extra $3 for mushroom sauce and it was nothing to write home about. However...my husband had the beef burger and loved it. Maybe I just ordered wrong! Very expensive for a pub!More

Despite some poor reviews we found the staff were very helpful, welcoming and accommodating. The decor matched the old world character and the photos were an interesting review of the history of the town. Diners could eat inside or out. Our meals arrived promptly and...were delicious, especially the crumbing on real chicken breasts and crispy chips. The desserts sounded very tempting but we were too full.More

The meal was lovely, quickly brought out. Same for Hospitality staff as they were rude due to I’ll servicing my drink but also my meal. Maybe better signage on where to line up. We had been to several other business on this day and all...staff interaction was 5* .More

The serving staff are very welcoming and professional but the food and decor are a real let down. The decor is overwhelming - too, too, too many photos, cluttering every wall and too high and too many to appreciate. The food for some of our...party was OK. However the spaghetti dish was doused in lemon. My steak was only 75% edible (25% gristle) and cheap, ineffective steak knives don’t help. We know times are hard, but the cost of replacing the standard “chips and salad” with “mash and vege” (available on other dishes is charged at an exorbitant rate. The room was very comfortable on a Beechworth night and we had booked. Little thought seemed to have been given to placing booked customers at the better tables. We were booked at the table right near the door. Small issue normally but Beechworth in winter ……and people coming to and fro around your table.More

The interior decor of historic photos makes this pub very memorable. Lots of history and Kelly gang information on display. Add in delightful food and pleasant service and it becomes a worthwhile visit. Would happily go here again.

Fine old pub in central Beechworth with an attractive dining area - lots of historic photos, newspaper reports and advertisements on the walls. On a Monday evening in April it was very popular and I was lucky to get a table. Excellent fish and chips,...sticky date pudding and a wide choice of wines by he glass. The Bobby Burns Shiraz as especially good.More

We have stopped here for drinks on a previous visit and had a great chat with some locals. Today we came for early dinner The dining room is a delight. Original decor and wonderful photo gallery. I had the chicken parmigiana. This is my go...to pub meal and lately I have had some shockers, so I do not say this lightly, best ever! Hubby had the Nepalese Chicken Curry. We have been together for over 40 years and he has never ordered a pub curry. He said it was very good, tasty. So if you happen to find yourself in Beechworth I highly recommend the NicholasMore
