I was here to buy a loaf of bread, but noticed all the savoury pastries in the warmer and that they could make sandwiches to order, too. I collected a salad roll and was impressed with the number of ingredients available and the budget price. Friendly people, too.

I do like the chance to choose exactly what I want in a sandwich and was impressed at the quality, freshness, size, and price here. I did notice that their website is the one for Daylesford Bakery, which is another of my favourites. There is some seating outside, but it is not monitored. Seven day operation is most welcome.

Little country bakery with space to sit inside. We stopped in our way to Geelong. The crossaints with ham and cheese (toasted) was enjoyed by the kids. The steak, bacon and cheese pie is very nice. The cheese and bacon is layered on the bottom, pastry was light and flaky.

My parents in their 80s went to the bakery today as a special treat and bought two pies for lunch. My mum says she paid $22 for two pies, hers was a curry pie. She said it was raw in the middle and she couldn't eat more than the crust. Very disappointing. I hate it when old people are treated badly.

Took a trip to Trentham on the way we stopped at Ballan bakery . After asking for two sandwiches for 2 year old toddlers ,the sales assistant was asked if she could squash the sliced eggs into the sandwich so the toddlers could manage eating them without
lots of egg going everywhere .
This seemed to be to much trouble as she chose not to acknowledge the request along with no response . The chicken sandwich was in huge chunks and most of that fell out everywhere . The very thin bread did not help . Instead of cutting the sandwiches in quarters they were cut in halves even though we mentioned they were for toddlers .
Whilst waiting we were asked to wait outside with the two toddlers so she could serve the next two people outside . We were horrified the temperature was 14 degrees l declined and she appeared annoyed and rude . What a disappointing experience . So on that note l would not recommend the bakery . Later on the way out of the store l apologized & explained to the next customers That we declined to wait outside with the two year olds in the cold and they appeared surprised at the earlier request and had no problem with waiting ..

Despite lining up outside due to Covid restrictions, was happy to wait as the service here is friendly. Despite it being after lunch time, they still had plenty of pies available.
Our pies were not only tasty & stayed together, they were hot which seems to be rare for some other bakeries. Pastry was light & ingredients contained no gristle at all.
There were a lot of people eating from this bakery & we can see why!

Popped in for male pastry staples: sausage roll, potato pie & Thai chicken.
All delicious and devoured on park bench across road.
Nice service in strange times.

Beautiful pies, nice and flaky pastry and a good amount of filling. These pies held together for a quick pie on the run and didn’t end up spilling meat all over the car.

If I could leave a score of zero I would.
Rubbish everywhere, tables filthy and the floor looks like it hasn’t been mopped in years.
Rude and disgusting service, coffee undrinkable and expensive.
Avoid this place if it’s the last place open in Ballan
Ps look for new staff

Came here on our way through for our getaway for some lunch and was not disappointed! The fresh salad rolls and sausage rolls we got were delicious! Would definitely recommend for a quick bite to eat or lunch!

Grabbed a pepper pie and a pasty as a grab and run, the pie filling wasn't too bad , good pepper flavor once I got past the tooth breaking crust, it was so dry and hard I just broke it off and through it away... then the pasty and it's filling of bland, blended up grey past with the texture of ... gritty dry mashed potato with zero flavor.....
Never to return......

This place is notorious for being rude. My partner went this morning to buy a loaf of bread and was refused entry because it was 7.27am and told they don’t open til 7.30. Then they refused to open til 7.40.
Food is average at best and the service is feral.

Not too bad never got bread rolls after 1 always sell out pies are ok this place is very small and very outdated but ballan is a beautiful town just the shops are very average

We needed lunch and a bakery is always good when you need to eat and run. I had the pumpkin and feta pie which was very tasty and my fiance had a meat pie which he also liked. A lemon meringue pie was for seconds. The staff were friendly and it made the experience much nicer. All in all, a tasty feed for both of us.
