Booked for two, we were seated int he middle of the very noisy main room of the restaurant which was jammed with tiny tables for two sitting cheek by jowl. We found ourselves shouting at each other to be heard over the conversations of other guests. We asked to be moved somewhere quieter and our only option was to sit on uncomfortable bar stools on a brass topped table which was cold and smelly if you touched it. Not a great start. Service was disappointingly slow and became inattentive as the night wore on, as though the staff were also weary... the share plated we ordered were surprisingly average and overpriced for what it was (, touch calamari, and particularly the cauliflower, which could have been so much more than a huge limp, sesame seed strewn lump). The duck was good, the wine was good, the location is nice, but the restaurant is too noisy, and it didn't feel special at all. The waiter realized at the end of the night but it was all a bit late.

We enjoyed a lovely park-side setting with set menu for 6, reasonably priced, and easily enough food for 8. We were stuffed after four tasty shared entrees and a delicious shared main course of 2 whole trout, baked chicken, wonderful shoulder of lamb, chips and tiny salad (very strong on protein but light on veges). But we managed to fit in the excellent sticky date pudding for dessert. Our gluten free person and fish averse person were well catered for, and social distancing of tables was well thought through. Thanks Chiswick!!

A nice meal but a bit perplexing. The fried chicken was shared, thankfully. Four decent sized pieces of fried chicken for an entree would have sent me straight to dessert. Then came the pork cutlet which was huge. Luckily they did doggy bags and I have the rest for tomorrow night’s dinner. While both meals were fresh and tasty neither had the X-factor which you look for at a quality restaurant. My wife’s Barra in a bag was also tasty but a bit mushy. Dessert was the highlight. The Mango mess was a delightful combination of textures and flavors.
Wines by the glass were very nice though the selection is limited. Service was very attentive and friendly and the ambience, including the temperature, was spot on.

Hi ffsquare, Thank you for your review. We really appreciate you taking the time to share with us your honest feedback. The Barra is cooked in Papillote which retain the moist, could have been why you found it too soft. We will definitely pass that on to our head chef. Very glad you enjoyed the Mango mess, one of our best seller! Thank you again and see you again shortly hopefully! Chiswick Management.

We are big fans of Matt Moran and his resataurants - especially Aria and Chiswick Woolhara in Sydney. This was our second visit to Chiswick and it was delicous. A great spot for a long, large group lunch but good for a special occasion of date lunch. Thanks to its location in Chiswick Gardens in leafy Woolhara it is hard to believe this is in the middle of a large city. Loved it.

I entertained important clients at Chiswick, expecting a delicious banquet meal and polished service.
The food dishes were very ordinary in taste and presentation.
The drink service was appalling - slow and un-attentive and the wine was out of reach so we could not even fill our own glasses.
In my opinion the wine list is uninspired - there are so many excellent wines in Australia and the wine list does not reflect what is available.

We were married in this restaurant (called Pruniers then) 50 years ago and decided to celebrate our 50th Anniversary there with friends and family. It was a joyous occasion, food fabulous, wines wonderful and service excellent. The l, I think his name was Franz was outstanding and ensured our choice of dishes and wines were a perfect combination. He was also attentive of the needs of five children and planned a great combination of dishes to delight everyone.
A great selection of wines.
A perfect celebration. We loved it.

This was too be a special lunch with friends and family from Interstate.
We started with a set menu which as explained was necessary due to supply issues post Covid.
The starter of Barramasalta was lovely and the cauliflower side dish exceptional but the whole trout, shoulder of lamb and roast chicken, salad and chips were so ordinary with nothing to distinguish them. We spent a lot on wines and in total we spent approx. $200 per head so it was disappointing that most dishes felt like a home cooked meal.
This was definitely not Chiswick's usual standard. I would ask a lot of questions before returning.

Eight adults and a 3 year old had a very enjoyable birthday lunch at this very pleasant restaurant. Because of our numbers we shared 4 entree dishes, 3 main courses and a dessert, accompanied of course by some splendid wines. The service was good and included packaging for us uneaten food to enjoy at another meal.

My wife and I dined here on a Saturday night as part of a large group of 16.
Consequently, the menu was fixed but this did not detract from our enjoyment of the evening.
The service was attentive but not overly so. Those among us who had particular dietary requirements were catered for exceptionally well.
The food, without exception, was delicious. The slow cooked lamb was a standout.
The wine list was extensive.
The atmosphere is very intimate, with the smell of freshly cooked bread permeating the restaurant.
Well worth a visit or more.

If you are reading these reviews because you are interested to try this restaurant, you should do it! You are not going to be disappointed. Everything from the ambience, the service and the food are all excellent. We were a group of 3, from the spring menu we ordered the lamb shoulder with a side of veg and chips (you need to get the chips!) to share. Lamb was falling off the bone, eggplant was nicely seasoned. But I walked away still thinking about the barra-masalata we had before the lamb. If you like the Greek version then you must try this one, MUST! My friends were so impressed they cannot wait to go back.

Hi Carol, thank you so much for taking the time to write us such an amazing review. We really appreciate the 5 stars! I think about the barra-masalata most days. It and the lamb are simply 2 MUST HAVE dishes here at Chiswick and we are so happy you enjoyed them as much as we do. We look forward to welcoming you and your friends back again very soon :)

Delectable fresh food (from the produce garden);a table next to the window overlooking the garden;a welcoming waitress who had the perfect combination of professionalism and friendliness. A perfect lunch! Thank you! (P.S. Loved the hand cream provided in the bathrooms. A nice touch!)

I was surprised to be at such a beautiful place and receive possibly the worst service I've ever had in my life. In general the service was bad, but then the waiter dropped the lamb and pesto on my white dress. This didn't upset me too much as accidents happen. It was the way the waiter handled the situation afterwards that left our table in shock. If he did say sorry nobody at the table heard it. My friend asked the waiter for some soda water to help clean the dress. His reply was "You don't need Soda water, it's only some Mint"and walked off, (to clarify it was oily pesto and lamb). Wow, just wow. If you spill something on a customer I think you can get them some soda water weather or not you think they need it and secondly on the topics of drinks it would of being nice to offer one as an apology.

12 of us shared the group menu for a ‘Fun and Friendships’ get together celebration.
We arrive at 5 for our 6pm reservation. This meant we could casually chat and have drinks in the bar . We were also treated to Sunday’s live music. A a nice start to the superb evening of food and service. No dietary requirement changes posed an issue for our host and the chef.
The food was all delicious, nicely presented, and there was plenty! I think we may have had a full chicken dish leftover... ☺️
The only point I’d make is that there’s a 10% surcharge for groups (might be if over 10ppl) , not uncommon nor unreasonable but noteworthy when you’re informing your party.. I didn’t - oops
Most of us had been a few times before, for some it was their first . I think We’ll certainly be back again ☺️ Chiswick never disappoints.

We (a group of six) enjoyed a terrific lunch on Friday - great menu to share and very accessible wine list. Particularly loved the popcorn prawns and Lark Hill Shiraz Viognier. Excellent cocktails too! Good vego options.

Excellent food and service. I shared lunch with a friend and our meal was delicious. We were particularly taken with the entrees , halloumi & apricot , grilled & drizzled with honey. Our second entree was stuffed zucchini flower, equally satisfying. We also shared a whole baked trout which was lovely and light, allowing us to indulge in a chocolate parfait desert.
