Love Freds. Amazing cocktails, wonderful food from the bread to the entrees which are so perfectly balanced, we had the fregola with seafood and the tuna tartare to mains that melt in your mouth. The wine list is a bit pricey but something for all...and great advice from the Som. The apple sorbet as a palate cleanser was wonderful and the choclate tart that was a surprise and delight in your mouth... The service from the team was great. Thanks Freds!More

If you only had one meal left this is the place where you would go. Dear as poison, but worth every cent.

Went here a few years back with my hubby and a friend, and had a wonderful time. Came past again while a friend was visiting from interstate right before lockdown, and the service was lack lustre, but the food was good. I have a bad...habit of eating before I go out, so I didn't finish my plate, but believe me I enjoyed it. Boy George was eating at the restaurant, and our waitress seemed to be paying more attention to him. But, I guess we make these choices in life and for reasons unbeknown to me, people tend to flock to celebrities. We waited a while for our order to be taken, waited a while for our drinks, waited a while for the bread, and waited a while for our food. Would visit again, but I'm not running through the door.More

Fred’s was a favourite but we were underwhelmed on Saturday night. The staff weren’t up to scratch and when the waitress came over and said with a smile before you decide I have a few things to tell you? We thought great specials but then...she informs us of all the thing not available such as Fougasse bread but sourdough will be complementary. It’s not a huge menu and on a Saturday night you would think they could do better. At the end we had to wait quite a while for our coats clearly they had forgotten as the waitress was serving a table. Perhaps the good staff have moved on to their new venue?More

We made a point of going to Fred’s at the recommendation of someone who comes here often for business. We loved the set up of kitchen in the middle everything (great to watch them prepare dishes) and food was good. Drinks are pricey.

It’s rude to say ‘no’. So when it was suggested that Fred’s was the place for Dinner, I banished all concerns I had after reading online the somewhat limited/restricting menu and threw caution to the wind. And how glad I am that I did that...! The place itself has a really ‘fresh’ feel about it - from Danielle the Head chef through to the modern & natural dining environment through to the clever use of the in-season ingredients... The fancifully named sweet corn was in fact deliciously sweet & ‘moreish’, the lamb rack full of flavour and the fig leaf panna cotta a rare treat ! The bar downstairs is a stylish and fun place to start and conclude proceedings ! Super...More

Chef Danielle A. says she is committed to sustainable produce and this is obvious. It is stated that the dishes are designed to share but you can quite easily follow your own desires if you wish. The menu is small - on the night be...visited, there was just 6 entrees and 6 mains. The grilled marron was a delight to eat as was the tuna tartare - its description does not do it justice. For mains, the lamb rack, the butterflied quail and the John Dory were all dishes you would happily go back and have again. There is limited wine by the glass and pleasant $22 cocktails but otherwise prices are steep with mark ups around 300% on local wines. For example, rieslings - which I often seek were mainly Austrian, French or German at $100 to $ 600 but what Australia's were there such as the Jim Barry Florira Reisling which I can buy for $42 was marked at $123 - a bit rich unfortunately. We were visiting with friends from interstate so it was disappointing that our booking time was limited so much, but I must say, no attempt was made to hurry us up or get us to move on.More

After eating here in November 2019, we decided to eat here again on our return to Sydney area in December. We were not disappointed. Chef Danielle's open kitchen plan and her excellent bar, kitchen and server staff make for a superb dining experience.
