Didn't encounter the bad service we had read about... the man was lovely. Food was ok.. fig salad looks good. Ploughmans lunch abit odd but reasonable value. Plenty of space for the kids to play in at the back. I would go back

Wow it's been a few years since I've been but the settlers arms at St. Albans has seen better days. Cleanliness, food, service and staff all need a refresh. How wonderful this historic place used to be. Not worth the trip!

What a lovely place. A scenic drive along a meandering river, with two ferry crossings set the scene. The old sandstone pub is in the most beautiful setting. The food is delicious and even though they were busy it was served in a reasonable time....More

We enjoyed the varied and reasonably priced delicious quality meals and relaxed in the spacious garden and explored the different historic rooms and bar inside. Whilst it's less than 2hrs north of Sydney it's like returning to the nineteenth century with its original sandstone building,spacious...More

My partner and I stayed here for a weekend. The staff have been super helpful - great advice for bike tracks etc. The pub is traditional and has a fab feeling about it. Loved the locals vibe too. Beer lines need a more regular clean...More

Arrive after 3pm on News Years Day- food service had ceased, no problem we decided to grab a cool drink. Grumpy old man behind counter, we were treated as if we were a major inconvenience. Toilets dirty & not working correctly, outdoor seating area tables...More

Almost inedible food, very expensive. One of my dining companions said that they had seen a cat going in and out of the kitchen. The 'bangers' were under cooked and looked and tasted like anaemic toothpaste, the 'home made pastie' contained scraps of celery suspended...More

Beautiful geographical location. Lovely old style building very poorly utilized/laid out. Rude incompetent staff. poor menu even poorer food. Expensive for simple food. Disgraceful way to manage any pub/eatery in 2016.

Three of us shared meals listening to the 3 piece rocking band. Good selection of beers on tap. Ploughmans lunch and fish and chips - meals were fine. Great beer garden with chooks and a peacock roaming around- a nice way to relax.

Description
Established in 1836, the Settlers Arm Inn is built from convict - hewn sandstone. Surrounded by mountains, it nestles alongside the Macdonald River within the tiny village of St. Albans, the heart of the Macdonald Valley, New South Wales. Of Georgian simplicity, the hotel became a stopover for Cobb and Co. stagecoaches traveling between Sydney and Newcastle in the nineteenth century. These days the inn is an alternative gateway to the Hunter Valley wine districts for visitors from the Central Coast as well as Sydney and its environs. Travelling time to St. Albans is approximately 1.5 hours by car from these areas. The Settlers Arms Inn is not only popular with day trippers but provides Accommodation comprising four doubles, all with en-suite. Australian Country - style cuisine is available seven day a week. Outdoor activities may involve tennis at the courts across the way, swimming and relaxing in our 12 metre saltwater pool, bike riding, golf at Wisemans Ferry, or just ambling along a country road. Entertainment is provided on Sundays in the rear garden with a jazz band, in the non-Summer months. Open fireplaces add warmth and atmosphere to dining and imbibing in the cooler months.
