Our food from the Rice Den was delicious, fresh and made with (what tasted like) very high quality ingredients. One of our ordered item was left out of our take-away bag, but the staff were very helpful, so delivered the missing meal to our door free of charge. Highly recommend!

What an amazing place in the middle of the industrial St Leonard’s. Not only were the staff wonderful and helpful, then food was fresh and delicious. All of the flavours of Cantonese cuisine with a contemporary Australian vibe. The wonderful waitress suggested we try the Banquet and it was the best option to try a range of different things. The decor is beautiful and the atmosphere is cosy and bustling without being too noisy - a great place for a date. I can’t recommend this place more.

It's a long time since I've enjoyed discovering a restaurant so much. The first thing that struck me was that it looked good, which is unusual in suburbia. The next thing is that the menu is actually Cantonese and yet it's WAY better than your average local Chinese; this food is seriously good. It's perfectly fine to take Nan and Pop and the kids here as the menu is totally recognisable, nothing weird or scary; the difference is in the quality. We had duck san choy bow, chicken, prawn and shitake mushroom sui mai and prawn and pork wontons for entree (all good but the wontons were particularly heavenly) with a glass of Henschke pinto gris (oh yes, the wine list is also very good). Then we had duck fried rice and Szechuan lamb stir fry for mains (with a glass of red each). Also truly excellent. We hadn't intended to have any more but my husband succumbed to the temptation of a white chocolate mousse with strawberries so I just had to finish off with a cocktail. So glad we did and so glad to have found this lovely place. Thanks for an enjoyable evening, we'll be back soon with friends.

I ate at The Rice Den last week and without question it was the best food I have ever eaten at a restaurant. The duck pancakes were out of this world. The owner of the restaurant Roy came and spoke to us for ten minutes and explained the dish and the ingredients; so interesting, so friendly. What a nice guy! The service was first class as was the rest of the food. The bill was pretty reasonable too for the high standard of meal. This is certainly my go-to restaurant now..

We managed to get in without a booking but I think it would be wise to book. This is a busy place. We got a table outside, which was fine as they have heating. The service was friendly and food arrived promptly. The duck pancakes are very good. We also had the edamame and these were a tasty snack. I had the steamed barramundi with rice. This was cooked well and was very good. My daughter had the veggie Singapore noodles, again this was good. I would like to come with a larger group and get a wider selection of dishes. They all looked good. Inside looked busy and interesting. This is an upmarket Chinese and well worth the visit.

Well we were tired from moving a friend into an apartment and went for a walk to find food. Wow! We didn’t expect that quality of service and food in St Leonard’s. This was outstanding and we will be back. We visited after 8pm and got a table, staff couldn’t have been more helpful Well done to the staff

Came to St Leonards because of work. In the 5 days I was here, came to The Rice Den 4 times. Faultless! Amazing delicious food, excellent wine and attentive service. One of the best, relaxing restaurants I've had the pleasure of eating at. Highly recommend and will definitely be back when return.

Delicious modern Chinese food with good variety of vegetarian choices, excellent service, good portion sizes and reasonable pricing. Plenty of street parking nearby.

Really nice feed and a great cosy atmosphere. The service from our waitress was 5 star. TIP: Ask for recommendations from the menu by the staff!

What a hidden gem! I had been wanting to visit for ages and finally had the opportunity. We were thrilled from start to finish and cannot wait to return. Everything was easy from the online booking to ordering process. A cleean, modern and very well run business. Take away also doing a roaring trade. Top quality, fresh food, delightful service and delicious drinks. It was a bit noisy due to a large group but that is to be expected at this time of year. Parking at the door was an added bonus. I highly recommend the dumpling platter and duck san Choy bow along with the Great Wall cocktail! See you again soon!

Had 5 take away dishes ( larger plates) from here due to Sydney lockdown, even though a condensed menu all dishes were full of flavour, favourites were the sweet and sour pork with Lychee and satay chicken, would recommend.

My wife and I went to grab a drink after a long drive back to Sydney, to find that they had 2 customers who were having drinks but the restaurant was closing for dinner prep. My wife was busting to go to the toilet but was refused, I asked for the manager and he refuse because the landlord said “someone broke In last week” - what an appalling response and FFS, get some balls and make sound decisions people / what if it was your wife or family!

I'm sorry if you were disappointed. You didn't say that you were wanting to grab a drink, as we would have suggested a number of great bars and pubs in the area. We are a restaurant that is open for lunch and dinner only. When you arrived, we did have 2 customers who were finishing up from lunch. We are not a provider of public toilets. Our facilities are for our guests only and this is a strict requirement of our lease. This policy is common with many businesses, not just ours. I would also suggest that taking a less aggressive approach would allow us to be more helpful - it would be easier for us to understand what you really need and how we might better respond.

It's a well set up room, easy to park nearby after 6pm, friendly staff & attractively presented food. But unfortunately the food lacked "zing". Pepper, salt, garlic & other condiments would help to add flavour to the dishes.

Had a meal here with girlfriends... I chose the Barramundi which sounded amazing .. The fish was cooked/steamed to perfection but was presented unlike the pictures shown in a broth (which I would have questioned if I had seen these pics first!) I had 2 rather small fillets presented on a plate with just a small garnish of coriander and spring onion placed on top, the small dish accompanying (approx 1-2tablespoons) what should have been the broth was sparse and this cost $30 - then the steamed rice - $5 ... So $35 didn’t give me a feeling of value for money - unfortunate.... I wish I had taken a picture as it was certainly not like the other barramundi shown here... I guess I ‘lucked out’ on this occasion. 😏
