Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Afous exceeded expectations with both their amazing food and incredible hospitality. It was an exceptional experience from the moment we entered. Following a very kind (Moroccan) welcome, we ordered whilst soaking up the amazing view over Middle Harbour. A mixed dip entree was followed by Lamb Tajine (shared) of lamb shoulder, Bouillabaise and lentil fritters. The chocolate pate was a trific dessert! Service was prompt, polite...and the corkage for our quality wines, very modest. There is nothig to fault at Afous - and the proprietor Monar makes it an entertaining experience. Highyl recommended and will go again.More

The service was super attentive, the view beautiful and the food was high quality. We stumbled upon this restaurant and left full and happy. I wouldn’t normally choose tagine, but was tempted by the interesting description of the lamb tagine. It was simply amazing. Thanks...for having us!More

We were two couples who happened upon this wonderful restaurant on Christmas Day and it will not be forgotten. This was an incredible dining experience for all the senses. It felt like being welcomed home. From the moment you arrive you are greeted with smiles...and friendly banter. A cool, aromatic water was trickled into our open palms. It was a set menu and we wanted to try everything so we decided to get all four mains and four different entrees. So glad we did! Every plate was unique, beautifully presented with taste combinations that delighted every palate. Scallops in corn salsa, prawns in smoked paprika and white wine, marinated beef meatballs and an absolute must try is the b’stilla fingers - crispy little filo packets of chicken orange blossom bliss! We were already completely satisfied before the mains hit the table. Delicate fish tajine, chicken tajine with preserved lemon, towering lamb tajine and spiced lentil and potato fritters. Each one was more than generously portioned and perfectly prepared with love. And finally, a selection of sweet treats and fresh mint tea prepared with handfuls of fresh mint leaves. We will be back and we are so very grateful to have found our new favourite place that made this Christmas one to remember.More

What a wonderful spot for eclectic food in a casual setting. The owner and staff made us feel so welcome, and everyone of the tapas we tried was unique. The flavors were a melding of Spanish and Turkish which was somewhat unique. Thank you, Omar,...for a wonderful evening.More

It would be very hard to find an owner who is so passionate about making sure everyone in the restaurant is very happy. Every dish we had was outstanding. The little touches like the rosewater prior to dinner and the warm welcome received made this...a fantastic place with family and friends The slow roasted lamb was an absolute knockout. And the two vegetarians at the table had a terrific selection as wellMore

What a find! We were up on holidays and we’re looking for a restaurant near the marina that had gluten free options for our friend. Best decision ever. The owner is lovely - the food is wonderful. We went here for the second time, on a Saturday lunchtime, and booked well in advance so we could get a window seat and watch the world paddle, kayak and swim by. The greeting by Omar was very warm and friendly and we were indeed...seated by the window. The byo champagne we brought was opened and poured and we browsed the tightly packed menu (probably why the food is so good, they stick to what they know). We ordered the scallops, the prawns and za'atar to start with, all of them amazing and we had to ask for more bread to mop up the delicious garlic butter sauce the prawns came in. For main course we shared the boullabaisse and supplemented it with the cous cous. Again, the flavours were delicious and it had a nice spice to it and again, we mopped up all of that sauce with some delicious garlic bread. Feeling quite full, we did skip dessert but we couldn't leave without the peppermint tea as Omar's party trick to pour the tea is something to behold. The above all cam to around $150 and given this was our wedding anniversary, we left feeling it was worth every cent and dollar. Thank you to Oma, the team of amazing chefs he has there and the rest of the staff. It really is a little gem and a real flavour of North Africa.More
