We had high hopes for the L'Heritage because of its romantic location and the menu appealed to us but unfortunately the service experienced was truly lacking compared to what one would expect from a restaurant of this calibre and cost. We arrived for our 19.30...reservation (which was the latest time we could reserve) and from the moment we sat, we felt rushed and not appreciated. We were finished and bill paid by 20.45 which for a restaurant like this - too fast. The staff were pleasant but there was something about the service that just lacked. The food all tasted good, was it amazingly authentic French food that would draw me back, maybe, but when combined with the service experience, unlikely. What went wrong? - There was no bread offered, very few restaurants don't supply bread when you dine. I accept this may be one of those restaurants. - One of the menus had a different specials card, I accept that happens and we brushed that aside. - We asked for a bottle of sparking and still water. We have no problem with restaurants using filtered tap water systems which create their own supply in glass bottles they bring to the table. For this restaurant it is Purezza, I accept their is a cost involved but I think it is rude if you charge per bottle and arrogant when you take away both bottles when they aren't empty to replace with new ones and then charge for the new bottles as well, not a one time charge. Could I have raised it when I paid the bill - most certainly - but I shouldn't have to. You have already lost my custom at this point. - We ordered the Ceviche for a starter. Within a few minutes it was at our table. I accept that food is often prepared but to arrive at the table no more than a couple minutes after ordering gives one the feeling of being rushed. - Within a few minutes of us finishing our Ceviche, there was no question posed whether we were ready for the mains, they just started arriving. For the most part, the food was good. The french fries with the steak tartare were slightly overcooked and more rouille would most definitely added more flavour to the bouillabaisse. - While I accept that some restaurants pour their glassed wine at the bar, in such a cosy and romantic restaurant the experience would be so much more if the 2 glasses were brought to the table with the bottle, the bottle shown, then poured - not walked in and plonked down on the table with one of the customers being served their glass by leaning across the table in front of the others who are eating, instead of walking around. Truly disappointing service experience.More
