Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

One of Sydney's better breakfast spots, excellent food and top value let down by variable service. Often have the mushroom stack at only $17.00, the value is incomparable. Tried something different though, had the scrambled omelette which was done just the way I like it, not too hard. But the service is off-putting, the waiters just swan around and ignore you

As a long time supporter and previously loyal customer of Fourth village providore and restaurant it saddens me to say that their quality and customer service have dropped off as quickly as their prices have risen in the last 6 months. Recently purchased cakes on two separate occasions, both stale, my piccolo coffee jumped from 2.80 to 4.00 overnight, no more barramundi served in the restaurant (thank goodness bistro Mosman still serving), serving sizes down and prices up, and arriving at 11.25 am on Sunday we were told without any care that breakfast had finished even though we had 5 minutes to spare. Too many strikes Fourth Village ... I can no longer recommend you and you have lost my custom. PS I’m not the only one groaning in about this in Mosman.

Fourth village takeaway was our best option to celebrate a family meal from our favourite local restaurant while in lockdown. When we got our order back home, we realised our favourite salad – the rocket with the amazing dressing – was missing. The restaurant was so apologetic – not only did they provide the salad and give us a refund, they threw in desert as well – their amazing cannolis. Many thanks, it made our evening.

We wanted to support a local business, but so disappointed with sloppy service, and overpriced oily food. Salad was soggy. Seafood was over cooked and prawn linguine had a grand total of 3 prawns. To add insult we were over charged - 3 glasses of wine instead of 2. As we had paid it was apparently not their policy to refund only to offer credit for the overcharge ... we don’t really want to take this up. We have been before and it used to be a great restaurant with atmosphere. Hopefully they get their mojo back.

Having frequented this establishment for at least the past 10 years we visited for lunch recently for the the first time in about 12 months. The first disappointment was when we were informed on arrival that 4th Village Providore was no longer a BYO establishment. Given the rather rustic ambience of this restaurant, paying exorbitant prices for wine is somewhat jarring ! The second disappointment was the limited lunchtime menu and the small size of the servings. The cost of lunch for four people was about double what we considered would have been reasonable. I'm sorry 4th Village Providore but you have lost our custom.

Not sure what the last couple of reviews are about. This place always impresses. If your not happy with the price (although they are more than reasonable) take your BYO and leave more space for the loyal followers to enjoy this Mosman institution. Really! who would even consider BYO when these hospitality venues have had such a difficult year. Hand made Duck ragu pasta, rolled Roman pork belly, stuffed zucchini flowers !!! Some of the best and most honest Italian food you will find. I’m so happy you finally re opened for lunch after what must have been a difficult year. I will keep coming back To the FourthVillage team, keep up the good work and don’t listen to the noise !

Friends had recommended this restaurant, so we thought we would try it for lunch. There is outdoor seating, but we chose to sit indoors. All of our meals were delicious and well presented. There is a nice wine list from which to choose. No cider. The beetroot risotto serving could have been a bit more generous. The wait staff tended to ignore us once our meals were placed on the table. We were not allowed to pay for our meals separately, which created a problem as no one had change. The waitress told us to split the bill which would have been very uneven. Many other restaurants allow one to pay for one's own meal. The retail section was tempting, but I did not have time to peruse it.

My husband and I visited this deli as it was listed in the top delis in Sydney. We were particularly after good quality olives and cheeses. We purchased some really good looking Kalamata Olives (so salty we could barely eat them) and the Mixed Olives (most of the varieties were so disgusting my husband and I had to spit them out and eat something else to get rid of the taste). The largest ones were fibrous and totally inedible. Never eaten olives as bad as these our whole life! I would expect that such a highly respected deli would sample its own produce before selling them to their unsuspecting customers. We bought a lot of other items here and are hoping that the quality will be better than the olives.

After going to Fourth Village for a couple of years we were very disappointed with our recent visit. No pizza on the menu anymore not to mention gelato! The children’s menu wasn’t even included and we had to ask for it even though we were sitting with two kids. The octopus was big, chewy and bland. Such a shame as the restaurant used to be packed and noisy every night with kids running in and out with their gelato and playing out on the grass. Don’t bother with it.

Booked a pre-concert meal. Arrived and were shown to a very small table very close to another pair of diners - we are talking 50cm between tables. We declined to be sat so close to another diner and pointed about 3 other free tables that were much further apart. MD said these were "all booked" (none had a reserved sign). I suggested outside despite light drizzle. Sat down at a free table and then after 5 minutes MD said this table was "also booked for a large party". Finally sat down at another small table that was more exposed, so I had to wear a rain jacket. Waitress who served her seemed very embarrassed by the behaviour of the MD. As we left the awning was then extended to our table was then protected from the rain. Really rude MD, seating far too close to be even remotely COVID safe. Will never be back.

If ever there is an example of a restaurant that has lost its soul its this one. We used to go for the wonderful pizza and gelato that they got rid of for some reason. We gave the benefit of the doubt came back after 2 years. The meals we had were very ordinary in taste and the 2 of us paid the same price for what it use to be for 3 people. It is so disappointing to see the decline of this place. It is clear they wanted to make it an up market Italian restaurant but in doing so removed the soul, the quality and atmosphere. Not returning after being a loyal customer from the beginning.

In a family group of 7, two of us 11000 miles from home in the UK, our family hosts chose this place to celebrate and they we NOT wrong. We had a great night in cracking informal surroundings. We'll go back and we'll explore the deli Provodore. The serving staff were excellent, friendly and showed just the right attentiveness. We felt so very welcome. Thank you to them all. The pasta dishes were beautifully cooked and presented. The Moreton Bay bug with tagliatelle pleased three of us and the papardelle with Ox Cheekk was scrumptious. Finally, worth a mention - the red wines were to die for and not expensive. Five out of Five from the UK jury!

Unfortunately on our recent visit the restaurant seems to have changed a great deal. Maybe it has been outsourced to another company. The staff were helpful and welcoming and tried very hard as they were under the pump. The menu is different and no longer offers the wood fired pizzas or such classics as the crispy calamari entree which is a pity. Our meals lacked the Italian flavours described-in the menu - in fact they just lacked flavour in general. Prices are high but I wouldn't go back even if they were half the price as the food does not deliver the Italian experience. Sad as it was such an authentic Italian oasis in Mosman but no linger!

Fabulous fresh Italian food to share with friends and family. The menu has a wide selection and the portions are large. Once you finished eating in the restaurant, visit the shop for dinner and desert options to take away.

Very few people dining at lunch was not a good sign at this previously bustling restaurant. One of us had salt and pepper squid, which was edible, but there wasn't enough mayonnaise and what there was tasted insipid. The other guest had prawn spaghetti, which she said was tasty. However, a few hours later, she had a terrible stomach upset. We won't be going back.
