Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Booked on a busy night, they were unstaffed and stressed. It was the best meal I have had in a long time. The food was fresh, the flavours were incredible and the service (despite being under staffed) was unmatched. Shoutout to Sophie, who took time out to talk to us and always make sure we were well looked after. Sunset Sabi is my favourite restaurant in Sydney, it’s understated but with a small menu that packs a punch. Take all your Japanese lovers and out of Towners here to showcase some amazing food and hospitality.

Visited for a family get-together. Didn't book in advance which was a mistake as this restaurant gets very busy. However staff put themselves out to find us a table within 45 minutes and texted us when it became available. Very helpfuland courteous staff helped and guided us through the extensive menu choices. Useful for anyone that isn't familiar with Japanese cuisine. Every dish was a treat. Difficult to fault this establishment. Only downside is that is does get very busy especially Fridays and Saturdays and can be noisy.

The food and service was good. Some delicious dishes including the mushroom gyoza, very fresh sashimi and sushi rolls, beetroot dish etc. The ambience and decor needs more work and the music was too loud so we had to move as far away from the speakers so we could have a conversation.

I don't usually like to be negative. It was my birthday and we were pretty much trying everything on the menu. When we asked for the sauce seperate on the noodles the staff got shirty, no wonder, it was just soy sauce. This place has no finesse. We were still ordering and were 45mins in to our reservation (6:45 on Saturday) and we were told if we wanted dessert we had 15 minutes to finish up. Totally disgusting attitude. Some nice bits to eat in a noisy setting. There are much better places to eat.

To be fair to the chefs and 1 lively younger waiter, the disappointment was mostly down to the manager on duty….clearly didn’t want to be working last night. we might have walked out as happy as we walked in otherwise. The chicken karage came to us in 7 pieces, being a group of 4 we thought it odd but managed to cut a piece so it was kind of even. Then… What was supposed to be the Main chicken dish came in a serving of 6…so we made note amongst ourselves that they really needed to get their portions sorted, but happily had one each and shared the ‘spare’ with our partners. Then over strolled the ‘Manager’ who in an accusing manner asked “how many pieces of chicken did you get, 4 or 6??”….to which we answered 6. Rolling her eyes and in an exasperated tone said, “well you are going to have to just have your prawns and salad as your main because you’ve already got more food than you should have. It was unnecessary to point out their mistake, roll with it and don’t blame your work frustration on the customers. Her mood ruined an otherwise pleasant meal. Mistakes happen with food, that’s ok….but rude staff I won’t tolerate, as such I’ll never return. Shame.

I didn’t know what to expect here as I’m usually not a huge Japanese fan given I’m vegetarian and often it’s predominantly meat. But wow. So yum, so many delicious dishes from entrees to mains. Will be back for sure.

We were hoping the place lived up to the hype. We ordered 5 dishes as recommended, only one dish was any good (rolls), the rest were either bland, burnt or too salty. My wife is a good cook and loves good food, but even she was not happy. Service was good. Very noisy, not great for conversation. Prices are average, but portions are small. We will not be back.

Great and interesting food served quickly with friendly and courteous staff. Opted for the tasting plate which was an excellent choice. $400 for five people, which included cocktails and drinks. So not cheap but still reasonable.

Tried the special starter of scallops, the shitake mushroom tacos and definitely need to save room for dessert. The cocktail list is interesting and the one I had was a delicious combo of sweet and sour. Enjoyed every mouthful and the attentive service.

Nathan did his very best to ensure that our evening was special for our girl's 18th. The food was delicious and a wonderful fusion of flavours. The food came swiftly and it was suggested that we have the birthday dessert to share....all fabulous. Excellent service all round under difficult Covid circumstances, made the trip down from the Central coast worthwhile. Thank you to all the team at Sunset Sabi, we'll be back soon.

Great place on all fronts. Love it. Except...the music was way too loud. Very irritating. It's a restaurant, not a night club!! Every one's yelling at each other over the music to be heard. Easy fix....just turn the music down a little.

Have been here a couple of times recently. It is just has really good food – fresh and seriously great flavours. We all enjoyed everything we ordered, which was quite a lot. Wouldn’t know where to start, our general feeling is that no matter what you order you are going to enjoy it. It was mid week and it was quite busy, the service was fine, it had a good atmosphere. As an aside we also quite liked the music playlist they had.

Service was prompt and friendly but food a huge disappointment. Small portions of bland morsels with interesting titles. The overall effect was that we were processed for the purpose of maximum profit and minimum outlay from the establishment.

Friendliest staff I have encountered in years. The fabulous manager set the vibe and the super duper genuine and friendly gorgeous waitress set the tone for a great evening. Food was good too!

Great deco and vive. Very attentive and friendly staff. Best Japanese food in Sydney. The food is wonderful - fresh with an innovative menu and flavors. Good wine list.

A 40-minute ferry ride from Circular Quay will take you to the famous northern beach of Manly. The beaches here are perfect for learning to surf or spending the day sun-tanning. The walk from Spit Bridge to Manly is a great way to experience Sydney Harbour Bay and the Australian bush land. Along the foreshore, there are plenty of watering holes and wine bars with excellent cuisine. There are plenty of kid-friendly restaurants as well, especially along the family-oriented areas like Shelly Beach. An excellent way to experience Manly is to rent a bike and explore the dedicated bike paths and off road trails. The North Head National Park is another must-see. Located on the southern tip of Manly, North Head National Park offers great bushwalks and panoramic views of the city.
